Girl Passing on Left - 2009-02-13 12:08 PM

what de????????? someone ate my cookies????? thanks for doing that! I look forward to them! I am just getting back from working out at the gym......going for a run on the beach with the dog and then taking a bubble bath and heading to Bakos for the weekend.....I ran almost three miles yesterday and my knee feels fabulous! I think I need to run on softer surfaces....cuz the beach was really working....I also went on a 15 or so mile bike ride with the dh last night before we had to take off for the Maritime Museum for his dinner event.....so, I am baaaaaaaaaack! woot woot! hope everyone has a great Friday....

seems like we have a few teammates that are not holding up to their promise of checking in with the team three times a week.....hope it is because you are training like madmen and women! that is right????

have a great friday/ and a better weekend!

train well guys/gals!

Guilty. No excuses, not much training, either. I just realized that I can't go to my lunch swim because I have a lunch meeting today! My husband keeps telling me I have a "synchronization" problem with my various calendars (I keep 3 electronic and 2 paper calendars because the one I want is never on me when I want it). These are the things that prove him right, darn it! Well, I'll try to force myself to go after work, but I sure do hate swimming in the dark! At least no one can see my stubble in the dark, right?

Have a happy Valentine's day everyone - I'll be watching the Prologue of the Tour of California and drinking a glass of nice red wine with whatever dinner I decide to make for my valentines! After I do my bike ride, probably on the trainer, yech. Maybe I'll watch The Wedding Singer, too!

I'm shooting over to the logs now to throw some inspires around and get the gossip!
Trish

speaking of Tour of California and the truly important matters, I can't help but like the Astana team kit as much as I try to stop myself. It's almost a perfect match to my actual bike. I think the blue on the jersey is a tiny bit off, though, but the shorts are spot on.

Welcome Suzie.  I'll second Lyssa's and Scott's comments.  This is the best mentor group and Julie is a fabulous mentor.

I think it is going to be a while before I can outswim the 70 year old lady I met at the pool a couple months back.

Guilty!   I will try harder - promise.   Had a pretty good week training.  Yesterday was a day off (stretching only) and I needed one.  Today is looking like another day off.  The wind is incredibly strong and the gusts are dangerous.   Looks like we already lost one small fir tree (2.5 meters tall) - I'm afraid to look out the window after hearing some of the latest wind blasts.

 Have a great weekend everyone.

Doesnt the tour pass by you? I know it is in Sacramento today...but I could have sworn it goes down past Davis??? if so, are you going to be there on the sidelines? it is a blast to go watch. I watched many legs last year and the time trials in Palo Alto were incredible....plus, on Monday I will be sitting somewhere near Skyline and Tunitas Creek or possibly La Honda road....to see them scream past us....more likely Tunitas as they will be climbing there....La Honda is downhill back to the beach and would rather be able to see some faces on the uphill then streaks of light going by on the down!

It is a beautiful day on the central coast of California...I just took a short walk on the beach...grabbed a cup of coffee...went out to see how big the pool is and how warm it was since it was supposed to be heated.......and very disappointed to report it is cold and a u shaped smaller pool...so no swimmy for me~ So, I have my weights for my arms and ankles and will instead head to the gym here at the hotel....then this afternoon my dh and I are planning on riding a few hours.....looks as though we will follow the coastal trail....not sure what that entails....just wanted you guys to know that I am thinking of you and am trying to FOCUS! haha

its HUMP DAY!..........go out and have a great rest of the week....and remember the word of the day/week/month is FOCUS!!!!! do better then me, ok???? ;0

Sweet!!  I love it.  Julie is our Mr. Miyagi!  Focus, GPOL-mentor-group san!

LOL - - yup thats right! Mr. Miyagi...haha!!!

Happy V-day,

We don't have anything planned at all but next Sunday is our anniversary and we'll do something romantic then.

Anyhoo, I had a good run this morning, went a bit further and did it at a pretty good pace. I'm still trying to figure out how to get my weekly run mileage up to where I will need it to be to comfortable do a 10k.

you will do fine girl! just keep plugging along! come race day you will find that extra mile in you! I used to only run 3 miles at the most but would compete in 10Ks on a regular basisi....and would finish them..maybe not look the freshest in town when crossing that finish line but I have every faith that you will do just fine...just keep doing what you are doing....when is your first 10K race?

At the moment, my only 10k will be as part of my first oly tri in September but I'm thinking that I should plan a stand-alone 10k race some time before that. Yeah, I know I've got a looong time to get there but the running hasn't come all that easily to me

I think that you just need to not stress over it...just keep plugging away at your runs...you seem to do just fine...did I tell you that my sister just ran in a marathon and the olympic runner they had a guest speaker...told them that he has won most of his races with the theory of running forty seconds walking 20 for the first 20 miles of the race...thus saving his energy for the last six miles....and then he would pick off all the runners who were just barely making it from running the entire race...he said he podiumed almost every race! so, I am now doubting if I should be running the entire thing or try his theory!??! sounds much more doable!

once you get into the race....you will be fine...something about having all those other runners around you and the spectators that gives you inner strength and before you know it you are hitting that finish line....we just need to get you to like to run as much as you like to bike...then there will be NOOOOOOOOOOOOO stopping you!

happy valentines day everyone! romantics that we are, we're doing--nothing!! LOL dh is going to work. the kids were up all night, so i JUST got out of bed. my kids have to do their school work today, and the laundry needs catching up. reading all that seems sorta sad, but like nicole, we have an anniversary coming up, and we'll make a bigger deal out of that.
it seems peculiar, but we will have been married eleven years! when did i get that old? oh wait, i know--i married real young, LOL
when's your anniversary everyone else, and how many years?!? and i think it's time to see some PICS!!!

Michele and I met in February of 2004 and she moved in with me in January of 2005. We had a commitment ceremony in July of 2005. We often celebrate our anniversary twice, once in February for when we met and once in July for when we had our ceremony. Here's a picture from our ceremony:

Happy Friday the 13th ........  I'm off to swim today, with the gal who laps me twice while I am swimming full out freestyle and she is doing that plus sidestroke........ ugh

One of my happiest moments in swimming was when the 68-year-old could no longer lap me.

Susie, I love you already !   We'll get there, just maybe a bit slower till we figure it all out ! I'm told I have "great form".....however unless I'm in some type of form pageant i doubt it will make much difference in winning ! lol (Plus they can't see the flailing my arm does underwater ) !lol

I imagine I'll be BOP as I was in the first and only 5k I ever ran......... I was dead last of the runners and just in front of the walkers ! lol.......... next year I plan to do the same run and show myself that time and work will make you better.  That run will be Thanksgiving day !

So anyway, glad you are part of the group......... WELCOME !
