RJohnson1979 - 2011-05-04 2:58 PM I'm curious about what everyone has on tap for training this weekend??? Getting to be that time of training when we start going lonnnnnnnnnng!

5hr ride on Sat and a 15km run on Sun. I finished my long run of the week today because I wanted some more time in between my long run and my HM on the 15th. The 5 hr ride might be split between inside/outside depending on the weather...

Oh looooooooonggggg rides...

Although I am extremely excited to race placid, I'm dieing to race a tri in general! June 5th is my first of the season and that still seems like an eternity!

Nick, are you doing Keuka? Looks like the lake is going to be pretty chilly. At least they fixed up 54A, so that will help a little.

John... nice looking ride, enjoy!!!

Did a modified tri today, 46 minute swim, 3 hour bike, 1 hour run. Didn't push the pace and felt somewhat easy, quite happy with that. Planning a 5 hour ride and 1 hour run on Saturday, Sunday is Mother's Day so plan to treat the mother of my 2 children to a nice day and maybe squeeze in a swim.

Yup I'll be at Keuka doing the olympic, yourself?  It will be chilly water indeed, but it'll just make us swim faster because we wanna get out, right?   According to ScoreThis they are claiming the repaving will potentially lead to some course records.  I wonder if it will make that much of a difference, 54A was pretty rough before though.

Nothing long for me this weekend, I'm enjoying a recovery week! I do have a 1000y swim test though and on Sunday for mother's day my mom and I are running as a "team" in a local 4-mile race.  Lowest combine time wins!

My looong workouts are coming though!

Perrrdy bike!!  And 808s coming? Did you spend all your savings on two buys?   Sounds like you've got a fantastic set-up for IMLP!

Olympic here too. It's the only race where I actually sign up as a Clydesdale. I figure I weight more than enough to make it worth my while to play that game once in a great while.

To round out my birthday (I turn 45 on May 6 - I age up this year!) my wife is taking me out for Thai and beer! For a tri geek like myself it doesn't get much better than this.

Happy early birthday IronBubba. My birthday is also May 6th, as of right now I am planning on celebrating with a swim and a bike. But if I finish early enough I might be able to get out for dinner too.

A few of my friends laughed at me for doing a Mini Sprint a couple of weeks ago, and I was like hey - I haven't done a Triathlon in 10-months!!  That's 10-months too long!

As silly/crazy as it sounds, my main focus now and has been for my 70.3 race June 5th.  That is and has been my main motivator.  Once I complete that race and Recover, then I can fully focus on Lake Placid.

I'm booked solid with Family obligations this weekend, so I'm taking off from work tomorrow to get an 80-mile Ride in.  Saturday morning I am planing a 12-mile medium-Long Run.  This is as long as I 'll ride from now till after my 70.3 June 5th.  As soon as I'm recovered from that, it'll be Century Ride time   which will probably start the weekend of June 11th.

1/2 IM done last weekend so this will be the first long training weekend. Fri/Sat - 2 day 220 mile Tour de Skyline with 25k of climbing and then a long run on Sunday. First big week of the year for me with many more to come.

Really schweeet ride!! Congrats on the new steed.  In 3 1/2 years when I turn 40 (if I'm still in this sport - hopefully) I plan to buy myself a new bike for my birthday, and right now it's a toss up between a P4 and Trek Speed Concept.  AWESOME RIDE!!  Congrats

105mile ride from GW to Harriman Loop - round there a couple times and back. Nice and Hilly. Taking Sunday off, I feel like I have been training too hard and all I think about is the IM ~ plus both hamstrings are bothering me.

Going to Placid for the long w/e in May and torn between two options - thoughts and suggestions welcome:

1 - Do the bike loop twice (so 112mile non stop)

2- Do the bike loop once and run loop once

I'm leaning towards 1… Running is running right, and there is probably more to "learn" about the 112mile ride...

Happy Birthday Birthday People... Hopefully you get to unwrap some new tri gear.

Oh - anyone doing Rev 3 HIM in CT 5th June? Previous times look long. Maybe it just cause it is early in the season but I think it is cause it is brutal.

IMLPeeps have a big training weekend. I like it! I'm headin out (as soon as the sun peeks out) for a 4hr bike 45 min run brick on Saturday followed by an hour bike 1.5hr run on Sunday. "Tapering" but not really for my second tri of the season and first Half Ironman ever next Saturday - Kinetic Half Ironman in Lake Anna, Virginia. Can't wait!

I've got a super busy weekend planned!  I'm taking a bus down to DC tonight for my friend's bridal shower.  So tomorrow morning I'll tackle my 2 hour run with 4x800 pickups in DC somewhere... have a mimosa (or three) at the bridal shower.... and get BACK on the bus to NYC late tomorrow night.  Sunday I have a 4 1/2 hour ride with a 45 minute T-run... then my folks are driving up to have dinner with me in the city for Mother's Day.  Phew - I'm tired just typing that out!

I'll be riding 4+ hours on Saturday in the Essex County and 1 hr run on Sunday...Have a Jerseyman Half coming up in two weeks. Yeeehhhhaaaaa!

Has anyone tried Carb-Pro mix??? I am planning on using it on my bike ride tomorrow...hopefully I'll get a boost out of that.

Also, placed an order for this book, should be very interesting http://www.amazon.com/Im-Here-Win-Champions-Performance/dp/1455502677

I use carbo-pro for all my training and racing. Just converted this year and I barely use anything else for my calories while training except to get used to what's on course at each race. Not a single complaint, stuff works great.

Oh nice! Where are you staying? For a 2 hour run I like to run along the canal tow path from Georgetown out west. Its flat, shady, pretty, not crowded, soft turf, and theres a boathouse to stop at for gatorade or water if you need.

Or you could do rock creek park path / trails if you want hills.

Otherwise you could always run the bridges, National Mall, Hains Point area! Hope you have fun here!!!
