I keep telling the wife to get lasik.  She just doesn't do it.  Maybe there's a fear/aprehension that she's not telling me about.

I've worn glasses since I was 8 years old!
I got my Dad's eyes, he was legally blind (-11 and -13) before having permanent lenses implanted.

But whenever I think about Lasik, I equate that to buying a new bike. And I'd MUCH rather have a new bike than new eyes. Priorities!

My husband just got Lasik done and he loves it, sadly he now sees better than I do.

I had Lasik done about 8 years ago.  Two years after dropping $3,100, I bought new glasses.

I wish I had bought the bike.

I had Lasik, 10 years ago.  I was legally blind with a -7.25 in both eyes.  I see ok, but 20/40-60, ten years later but eligilbe for a free touch-up.

Why is 6 hours sleep so completely better than 4? Ehhh...doesn't matter.
I am rejuvenated!

That being said...busy in here. (Notice I didn't say getting busy in here? That might encourage a whole 'nother Tuesday.)

And that is bad why?

Well, I've heard that staring at a computer screen for hours is bad for your eyes. Just trying to look out for fellow TANners.

I already work in front of 3 monitors so I'm screwed either way. So far at 35 I still have 20/20 though.

I'm still begging for a 2nd monitor. And, somehow, I still have 20/20 vision, but i think they were easy on me at my last vision test!

Getting a 2nd monitor was the best thing, ever, for work... I can't even imagine not having two now.

I want two!!!!

Mr James.

Why, Good morning Cheri...

Top? Again? ugh. I'm a failure.

Yes Maam, AGAIN!

You gonna steal my top spot all day? Good good.

Now that you are here, you have reclaimed King of the Hill position.

Well looky there. I did. Yay. I'm on top. (Hurts my knees)

Time to change positions.

Variety is the spice of life.  Or so I have been told.

The sooner you learn this the happier you can be!

my knees hurt too, and doc says the bottom is safer for the next 6 months.

For which participant?

Yeah. I mean for the money and not being permanent I just can't justify it right now.
My contact routine is not really imposing on my life either... I wear the 2 or 4-week (who knows) disposable ones, just plop them in some solution at night. No biggie.

I'm envious. To have a dedicated internets monitor would be great. Instead, I have to share a monitor between web and email. The other screen is pretty much Visual Studio 100% of the time.

Subject: RE: TAN #183: TANic Panic ... an impending BACON shortage?!

The "fun" ending to my night.  After a long day, little sleep, I was cranky already.  I hear a loud "clink" from the kitchen and the wife yells  "oh, I'm sorry"...

I'm like WHAT.  She says she chiped my FAVORITE coffee mug.  Some might say "so whay".  But for some odd reason, I was REALLY attached to that mug.  I saw it on a vacation with her to Disney and of all the crap in the shops, it was the one think I liked.  Everything about it was perfect.  The look, size, shape, and the fact that there was some special significance to it.  I used it all the time and just babied it.  Hand wash, dry, etc.

I knew I was at my limit from the day, and didn't want to say anything.  So I basically just turned and walked upstairs and went to bed.  Didn't say a word.

Then she comes up and starts yelling that she didn't do it on purpose, and she's sorry, and it's just a small chip (not really, I could see it from the next room), I could still use it, fix it, glue it.  Then stomps out saying she can just buy me a new one.  Meanwhile, I barely said a word and she was getting mad at ME...

It's odd on so many levels.  That a coffee mug could be one of my most favorite possessions.  That she breaks it, and get's mad at ME for not saying anything and just going to bed...

Maybe she needed me to get mad and the silent treatment was worse?

Anyway, she came up later and THEN was sincere about her appology.  And a new one (thankfully they still make them) is on 13 bucks plus shipping.  Still sad to see the original go though.  Cuz THAT'S the one we got together.

Any of you just have some basically worthless item that means the world to you?

But seriously, windows 7 supports dual monitors so easily.  Just plug and play and now running dual 20"ers.  Not as nice as my friends set up with his mac and dual 27" apple monitors, but I don't need that kind of power - he does editing.

Priorities!

I am very nearsighted (-6 diopters) and 60 years old.  At this point, I need two pairs of bifocals.  I have a regular pair for driving and normal activities.  The upper part of the lense has far distance correction (-6) and reading correction on the lower (net -3.5).  I have a pair of computer glasses in which the upper part is set for 29" vision which works out to -4.75 on the upper and net -3.5 on the lower.  It makes a world of difference.  If I want microscope magnification, I can still take the glasses off and focus up to the end of my nose.

No one correction is good for me so I don't think Lasik would be very helpful any longer.

My husband just got Lasik done and he loves it, sadly he now sees better than I do.

I had Lasik done about 8 years ago.  Two years after dropping $3,100, I bought new glasses.

I wish I had bought the bike.

That's the getting old part, imagine how much worse it would be without the lasik.

cgregg - 2012-10-03 11:28 AM Got Lasik two years ago... some of the best money I've ever spent. I hated the thought of wearing contacts, and simply not having to look through scratched lenses is totally worth it to me. Funnily, I still have some of the old mannerisms from when I had glasses. I'll still occasionally try to push the non-existent glasses up on my nose, or reach to take them off when I've got something in my eye.

Aw come on, admit it, you miss being able to use your glasses as an excuse to surreptitiously flip people off.

jford2309 - 2012-10-03 9:17 AM Morning TAN

Mr James.

Why, Good morning Cheri...

Top? Again? ugh. I'm a failure.

Yes Maam, AGAIN!

You gonna steal my top spot all day? Good good.

Now that you are here, you have reclaimed King of the Hill position.

Well looky there. I did. Yay. I'm on top. (Hurts my knees)

Time to change positions.

Variety is the spice of life.  Or so I have been told.

The sooner you learn this the happier you can be!

my knees hurt too, and doc says the bottom is safer for the next 6 months.

For which participant?

I just had back surgery at the end of May.  Doc says "monkey sex is out" for a full year, my back needs support......sigh.

A year??? Rough.

Lots of time to refine the more subtle techniques. Trying to find a bright side.

4agoodlife - 2012-10-03 7:08 AM Yay! It's morning

I have one on the left that is my internal database search (also it's my TAN and FB monitor), center is my CRM database and case entry, and my right is my Case history/trends search and work website.

I had a 20" one not getting any use...  A shame...

But seriously, windows 7 supports dual monitors so easily.  Just plug and play and now running dual 20"ers.  Not as nice as my friends set up with his mac and dual 27" apple monitors, but I don't need that kind of power - he does editing.

I've got a 28" and a 24" at home, it's just easier to look at when running a high resolution... and, gaming on the 28" kinda rocks.
Was relatively cheap, too, on NewEgg... under $300 which is ridiculously cheap for a monitor that size.

cgregg - 2012-10-03 11:28 AM Got Lasik two years ago... some of the best money I've ever spent.

Wait. We're supposed to be surreptitious when we do that?

Yeah, she kinda lost me on that one, too

You have no idea, no running, no aero, no lifting, no fun stuff, no fun positions, and no sleeping on my stomach....good chance I will be completely depressed by 2013.

But trying hard to do other things I normally don't, dine out, drink wine, go to movies, watch shows, read more books, and sould search of what i want to be when I grow-up.
