Denise2003 - 2008-09-09 10:31 AM I paid $350 for a miniature chair that I can't even sit in.

Interesting. I know people that have pianos in there house for decoration.

The piano in my parents' house is for decoration now. But it used to be mine I just don't have anywhere to put it here, so it lives there I miss it. It's nothing special - just an upright, not a baby grand or anything.

If I had a HUGE house, and a spare room. I would get a baby grand... I can sort of play though. I'm not sure how much I would play with all my other activities. Could be good if there are kids, no? I would also get the kind that can play by themselves, you know, for parties...

I would love to have a baby grand.  I miss playing so much.  Right now I'm looking at getting an electric piano so that I have something to play that fits in my apartment.

I've sort of considered that. But no extra cash right now. Trying to figure out how to be more useful to the worship band (which includes learning guitar), so if I join, I'm not just stuck singing harmony cuz my piano skills are rusty and I haven't mastered the guitar yet. We don't have any good singers, so it would behoove me to learn/polish up those instruments. Maybe next year, I can join. I know that sounds egotistical, but seriously - the other young adult group at the mega-church has a ton of really good singers (their bands are awesome). Ours, not so much. Or at least, the good singers aren't joining the worship band because they kind of suck.

This is a little off of the subject, but my best friend was here this weekend from Florida and we went to Best Buy to get his parents a GPS for their car.  While we were waiting we were messing around in the instrument room and we found a fog maker for very cheap - like $40 - that would make 1500 SqFt of fog per minute after a 5 minute warm-up.  So he gets this idea that he is going to buy one and then use it at home when he is playing Guitar Hero, just to freak his wife out.  So he buys it (it's really small and he left it in the bag and took it back in his luggage).  So, I get a call from his wife this morning, and she is furious at me.  I ask her what's up, totally blind sided, and he blamed it on me, saying that I had one and talked him into it, and since it was on clearance, he couldn;t take it back.  All of this was pretty much a fabrication.  So I took the bullet for him and now she blames me.  I am still going to be their baby's godfather - but she is not pleased.  Makes me laugh.

so wait... he comes up with an idea that he knows will p!$$ off his wife... does it, and then rolls on you?  and YOU TAKE IT?!?!!?!?

JD you are either a great friend or a dipsh!T....

So, If I throw a November Joint B-day party for the wife and I (we were born 1 day apart) AND combine it with a "I finished an IM" party (if I do).  Is that too much about "me"?

I don't want a party to that screams "look at me", but I want to throw a big end of year rager.....

Only if you were to invite misscullen, then it would be "all about me" (just using an old statement I saw).

Too big of a "Yay You" party in my mind... Make it more about her and relish in your own glory.

My wife and I are 7 days apart. She is very supportive of me and my sport. But I still wouldn't want to take away from her day.

I guess it doesn't matter now.  The wife just called me to let me know she is buying a vacation package for a two, for a two week vacation in Europe in November...  Nice.

But I still want to throw a party...

Well, you can invite us still on the cruise and cough up for the tickets - we won't mind!

I like the stutter piece there, too - "for a two, for a two".  Two, two, two mints in one.

I'm such a smartazz.

added an extra "a".  It was meant a trip for two, not for "a" two... oh well...

There is nothing more frustrating than trying to get through to someone who just won't listen when you try to tell them something that will help them.

Yes, there is. It's being the person you're trying to help.

Agreed

Yeah, but it's so fun to sit back and watch the aftermath.  I love a good "I told you so..."

ETA:  But since it's a doc. that made the post, maybe they are not listening to something that could help their health.  then it's not as fun to sit back and watch.  I'm not that cruel...

I see. Was it something from off the registry or did it just remind you of your friend?

Not from the registry. They had their registry on Amazon with pretty much 2 items on it, gift certificates and a wireless router. The bride went to architect school, so I think something artsy would be appropriate.

What are some easy ways to lower cholesterol?  I'm kind of on the high side of the acceptable scale.

The doc said diet and excercise.  Well, I think I excercise enough, so what about diet?  Just low fat stuff?  I thought I kind of did that already...
