I just ordered my first tri shorts and tri jersey !  OH MY GAWD not cheap are they ?

I got a tri tank (this one in the yellow color ......  http://tinyurl.com/ajm4z3  )

and then a pair of black tri shorts with a yellow seam.  Now, will they fit ?.....WHO KNOWS

Also got another bra in the hopes I can find one that will hold these guns down and not drown me in the  process.  The last chance bra that I have is so constricting.....I'm afriad if I swim in it I will panick and want it off......BAD BAD BAD SCENE IF THAT HAPPENED !!! LOL

Dh and I have not been to a bike shop yet, wanted to go Monday but with it being a holiday the one I called is not open.  I may just go with the bike I have for my first tri, and get different tires for it.   'cause the $$ I just spent on tri clothes will freak dh out a bit.  So $$$ being what it is I may opt for the goodies this round and hold off on the bike........ we'll see

wow you will be one styling mama! there are lots of great sites for shopping make sure you look at the BT classifieds..(under forums) they have new and used items they are selling for cheap! I have bought many items...such as garmin (which just broke) , a wetsuit...you will do fine on what you have been riding...just make sure to get in as many rides as possible...but to taper the few days before the race....when do you race?

have you tried Enell? It's what I swear by, but it's also pretty constricting. It keeps me from having back aches from running.

Edited to add I love that tri top! It also matches my bike.

I want to buy myself a nice pair of bike shorts when I lose 4 more lbs. I wasn't able to fit into many (any?) girl bike shorts before, so I have almost always worn men's.

I had a pretty awesome Valentine's Day. I got a laptop!

Spouse said it was to thank me for taking care of him after his surgery. Also, (shhh) ... my 30th birthday is coming up.

I'm really excited! My desktop was like 10 years old, and this is really slick.

The shopping experience, however, took from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. because we had to drive several stores quite a ways away to get the Presidents Day special. (Plus, my spouse luuuuuuvs to shop, a little bit to my torture.) We ate a hearty homemade breakfast before we left, and I packed two snacks and a salad for lunch. It worked perfect - spouse got the greasy, fried food from Chick-Fil-A, and I ate my tuna salad on baby spinach.

Oh, here's what I need some top secret, mentor group help with! Spouse also got me some chocolates, and based on my body's reaction to them, I believe they have gluten. I can't eat gluten for medical reasons, and very bad stuff happens when I eat it.

How can I get rid of them without hurting my spouse's feelings? I was thinking I could sneak them off to work, or possibly sneak some into the garbage every day, but I wouldn't want him to find them and feel upset because I know he meant well.

argh. had to take a short break. i'm making teddy bears for some kids (ok, they're MY kidsSmile) and i'm having ISSUE after ISSUE!! first i did them inside out, then i only made 2 of the pieces i needed (and two more pieces i DIDN'T need) THEN when i was putting front to back, i put the back on BACKWARDS!! you'd think i've never MADE these bears before! normally, i'm not kidding, they take me about half an hour. start to finish. i was making them for the kids to wake up to in the morning. so far, i'm still on the FIRST one, and i'm sitting here with my good frined "seam ripper" oh yeah, good times.
sorry. had to vent (and stretch my back a little) for anyone who doesn't sew, that made no sense. again. i heartily apologize.

Good morning!  Welcome back Jennifer.  How was the skiing?  Susie, congrats on the laptop!  And Alyssa, I hope those bears finally came together for you.

I got up early (for a Sunday), ready for a long run with Torture Dan.  But it's raining again!  What's that all about?  This is Florida, the land of sunshine.  And it was so beautiful all week long!  I'm not a fan of running in the rain, so I'm going to hang out for awhile and hope that it passes (but it's not supposed to until much later).  Fortunately I have tomorrow off, so maybe I'll flip flop and do my long run tomorrow and get a bike ride in later today.

I hope everyone has a great day!

I didn't get on yesterday, so I'm going to keep the Valentine's Day talk going today.  We got married back in 1984 (yes, I'm getting OLD!), so this year we will celebrate our 25th anniversary.  And we had a very romantic Valentine's Day -- not!  We brought sandwiches to my Mom's house and set up DSL for her.  Isn't that special?

I took a class once and I screwed up a simple skirt.....and you are having issues with complicated bears! oh my! way over my head!!!!! now if you need help with beading, crocheting, stained glass making, jewelry making...then Julie will come to the rescue....but sewing...sorry darling....you are on your own!

so did you get them done? and if so, pictures?

WOW...a new laptop! woo hoo....what a guy....he is a keeper! and good for him for being a concientious shopper and trying to make sure to get the best one for you! but I am with you 8 hours is a long time! haha

as for the chocolates....I would tell him that I am taking it to work....then put them in the kitchen at your work place or in an co-workers office that you very seldomly visit!....

Like you said if he were to find them in the trash...that would be upsetting.....but you may want to talk with him, too and gently tell him that you love him, but he needs to be careful on what he purchases for you...that instead of the sweets...you would prefer some energy bars and some new running socks........my dh was and is the same way...he is a whole whopping 150 lbs wet! and when I was pregnant and trying really hard to stay away from fats and processed foods...he was noooooo help what so ever....I finally had to tell him...I love you to death...but you have to realize that we have different body types and you are still more active then I and so, you have to stop asking me daily if I want some cookies...ice cream...candy....chips.....soda.....and so now he doesnt...and if i hear him in the kitchen on those few times I do want some, I will then ask him....he feels rude making some for himself and not me....but this is an agreeement that I had to make....I am a sucker for cookies, cake, ice cream, soda....and darn those chip makers...just like Lays says....you just cant eat one! I have been able to hold down cravings this way....and am less apt to jump to that bowl of ice cream.....hope you are able to get them out...dont be tempted! you will only be mad at yourself after you eat them. Like I am after last nights HOT OUT OF THE OVEN...PEANUT BUTTER/CHOCOLATE CHIP cookies....and I was totally bad and had three....and they were not small! there went my run yesterday!!!! in fact that is why I am up so early....heading out for a run....felt guilty most of the night! ;(.

YEAH on the computer !  I think it would just be easy to toss one chocolate or two down the ol garbage disposal each day. Unless you would rather not waste them, in that case I'd do as you said, take them to work.

Susie, congrats on the new computer! What did you get?

WRT the chocolates, I always take the stuff like that I don't want to work and leave it in the kitchen for others to enjoy. I hate to throw food away.

No training for me today (right now I'm sitting at the rink while my daughter skates and then I'm supposed to rush home so I can go to a college luncheon with my son) but I'll try to get in some stretching, yoga, or Pilates to keep my peachy streak going. Tomorrow, I'm off and I ride!

Hi all, I have just been reading so many stories of athletes who are hurt while running/biking/swimming......  and if you are not awake when help arrives, it's a great idea to have medical i.d and family contact info.......

So the above link is a great way to have that info on you while you train.  I have one kinda like that but it's a bit different , I have  my name, contact info of family and that I have graves disease and the meds I take......... Oh and it's waterproof so I can swim in it.

Anyway, just want you all to be safe and if you do not have something like this, I figured it would be good to share with all of you.
