I just got laid off.

I am home now.

It's not because of performance, since the Pres's admin said that both she and the CFO would give me a reference if I needed it. So I guess they didn't hate me.

Sorry!! Well, now you have time to look for another job?? I know you hated this one so maybe something better is around the corner?!

are you getting any sort of severance, any cushion to get by till you find something?

One week (hah) and the rest of my PTO, which was about 44 hours. So two weeks. Not very much.

Quick question.  What would you be looking for?

I have a couple good friends out in that area.  I can at least ask them if they know anything.

At this point, anything that is relatively close by so I don't have to spend a fortune in commutiing - so that leaves out DC. Nortern VIrginia is quite large, so finding something I can drive to shouldn't be a problem. EVen a crappy admin job at a large corporatino that isn't going to sink any time soon is fine for the moment

Just texted friend #1.  I need to home to get the contact and in touch with friend #2.  He's probably the better bet, anyway.

You might have to be his mistress.  Hope you don't have a problem with that

I KID!!!!!

Clearly, I'm back.  I even had a healthy lunch that I didn't think was depriving myself (rice, chicken, and berry applesauce).

And, I talked to my cousin.  She's going with the two MOH thing because she wanted me to be her MOH all along anyway and didn't think it would work.  But, she's realized that it's her wedding and she can do what she wants (SO THERE crazy friend  )

wurkit_gurl - 2009-01-16 10:03 AM And now, I am going to go get lunch. And possibly something delicious. And not my usual yogurt and cucumber slices.

That actually sounds yummy to me.  I lof cucs and yogurt.  Not every day, but it sounds good.  I was eating raw carrots every day for a while, and grew to dislike them.  But if they are dipped in some hummus, yum.

i want to buy a food processor JUST so i can make my own hummus.  that is just silly.  where would i put a hummus processor?

Get a really small one.  Like this:

small food processor link

I basically only use mine for hummus and guac.

I LOVE my food processor. I have the kind that has a big bowl and a small bowl and I do make my own bean dip on occasion

Just called one of the temp agencies and got an appointment for Wednesday.

Yes--healthy lunchy yummy!

Weddings nowadays can be totally fun and creative--two MOH, cool, sometimes MOH is Man of Honor, etc.

good work.  It will make you feel better to get on it.  When I was laid off, made a bunch of calls right away, ended up getting a lead in about a week.  Before I even started sending out letters and such.  Friend of a friend, etc....
