Yes, it was Auburn when they had the Olympic distance. That bike was freaking brutal, especially after coming out of the water 2nd to DFL. And crashing on the bike within the first mile. And then running in 100F. Can you tell, I am still traumatized? Well...not really. I kept at it. and here we are 4 seasons later and aiming for my first IM! That was not even on my radar after that race. Not even a little bit. Four years? what took so long? SO why did we post these pictures anyway? Because John is bored during his taper and Jarrett is not making him do laundry. |

REALLY??? Sponges are all that's required to become a B cup? Why didn't it work for me??? No races here. Best travel item: Trader Joe's 70% cacao chocolate bars (buy the 3-pack near check-out)... Just in case you can't find dessert, and/or for the late-afternoon pick-me-up. That, and fleece -- no matter what the temp, you never know when you might need something warm and fuzzy. who is that guy next to shea? |

Mine seem ok on very smooth roads but very slow and bumpy on rough road surfaces... probably just my poor cycling Conti GatorSkins - for a training tire, tough as nails, high mileage, while providing a soft supple ride. I am very impressed with these tires. |

I am very impressed with these tires. It's what I ride too. I know it gives up some rolling resistance (just ask RP), but I gladly trade off the 3W for a tire that so far has been bomb proof for me. PS. I hope I didn't just jinx myself. |

Master 1952 Guelph, Ontario | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN fast, furious, and closed I may have to rethink this triathlon coaching I took a newbie tri client out yesterday and proceeded to show him how to fall off your bike. I was pedaling hard up a hill and had to downshift. I didn't take any pressure off the pedals and my chain jumped off the sproket. As I was going quite slow at the time and due to the sudden free wheeling pedal I didn't have time to unclip and I went over and almost took him out. No damage and had a good laugh about it. |

Extreme Veteran 333 | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN fast, furious, and closed jfought - 2011-05-05 11:11 AM Newbie wetsuit quetsion: If I rent a wetsuit for my first race, which of the following reactions will I have: 1) Holy crap this wetsuit is so buoyant I could swim forever. SWEET! or 2) Damn, I thought they said this wetsuit will make it easier. I feel like I've been duped.
My 2 cents: Although the wetsuit makes me more bouyant and therefore faster, I have never had the feeling during a race that the swim was particularly fast. To the contrary, lacking a background and long history in swimming, I have always had the perception that "Holy cow, this swim is taking a long time." (That feeling was exacerbated in a race last year when I lost my earplugs and got swimmer's vertigo and was just hoping to survive the swim. But that is a story for another time.) In my (albeit limited) experience, I do not think I have done enough open water swimming at the race distance to be able to say "Without a wetsuit in light of the current and wave conditions, I would swim this in 30:35. But with the wetsuit I swam it in 27:42" Without that ability to compare, I always think the swim is darn long no matter the actual distance. And, although the rational side of my brain thinks that I must have gone faster with the wetsuit on, the emotional side says that that the rational side is just plain crazy. |
