I would hate to run more too.  If they cancelled the swim and made it a Bike/Run, what does the announcer say when you cross the finish line, "Joe Athlete, you are an Ironman minus the swim!"   Or "Ironman 138.2" Don't remember seeing those stickers for sale....

Mr Steve

Now that is funny!

Lets hope not the waves were 2-4 rollers for the Gulfcoast 1/2 IM in May. The swim went without a problem. My biggest issue was the 1st 100 and last 100 yards as the wave were breaking in the shallow water. When it was deep they were just rollers. If it is windy it will blow the tops off of them and make it sloppy. If there is any wind pray for it to be from the north. It will protect the beach on the swim and give you a tail wind on the way back on the bike.

I see that I am not the only one with the “what ifs”. Now that training has tapered I seem to have more time to think about all those things that that I have not had time to until now. It will make for a long drive south this weekend.

I got my shirt and I sure needed a happy. My regular bike shop closed so I had to take my bike to my 2nd choice to have its IM ck up. Since the very expensive ck up, they found things they thot should be replaced, I have had to take it back twice. I am sooo nervous. I do NOT want a mechanical problem on the bike. My guts are in a knot!! I am riding on Fri to double ck everything. Then my old mechanic sd he would look at it a final time next Sat. He sd he could get parts if he had too. Man, I hope that isn't an issue, AGAIN!!

My husband just called to share Southwest Airlines will be flying into Panama City Beach's new terminal starting next year. Wow that makes it so much easier for us to get there next year plus bikes are only $50 each way!

This year I'm flying to someplace in Alabama and have a 250+ mile drive to get there.

Awesome!!!

I'm on two flights to get into PCB and three, yes three connecting flights to get out of PCB in order to not miss any class. Sounds like it should be easier next year.

I'm starting to get nervous about swimming in the gulf. Are there going to be lots of waves? Any advice?

Do not worry about it. I have done this swim sevrea times and I have always been faster than any lake swim I have ever done. Remember the saltwater is more buoyant. I love it and would rather swim in the gulf than a lake anyday.

The only time my shoes are off is when I'm asleep. I dislocated one of my toes last year before a race. Klutz is my middle name! It is too close to the race to take a chance on doing it again. If I even tap it on something else it dislocates again.

RI 70.3 this year had an optional swim b/c of the conditions. There was an announcement stating any athlete who didn't feel comfortable swimming could opt out and still be able to do the bike and run. The RD let the 6 people who didn't swim head out on their bikes as the last folks from the last wave were coming in.

The night before the NYC tri this summer I sliced the end of my big toe almost off on a marble bathroom floor that rose about a 1/2 above the hallway floor in our hotel.  I bandaged it up with waterproof bandages for the race the next morning. The patch job lasted until I jumped into the Hudson (YUCK)  I finished the race and ran straight into the medical tent to get the cut irrigated and cleaned.

It ended up being one of my best races this year so maybe the wound brought me some good fortune!

Had my last long workout this past weekend 112 bike/6 run brick and as I was cruising along at 27mph about 95 miles in with a nice tailwind some lady on a cell phone coming the opposite way decided she wanted to turn left in front of me. I slammed my brakes and popped an endo that the BMX crowd would be proud of and squeaked by her barely missing getting demolished. I let her know how I felt about the situation in a not so nice manner.

Hello taper .. how I've missed you .. be safe out there everyone!

Bib numbers coming tomorrow I can feel it!

Good morning iron men and women, - 10 days and change - updated forecast for Nov. 7th (High 76/Low 60) mostly cloudy - Current water temp at PCB 72.7 degrees I think I am going to have to go with the consensus on this one and say today is bib day. Ironman's policy states that they will release the numbers about two weeks prior to the race. We are well under that now so I think it is time for them to step up to the plate. Happy Taper Tuesday.

Two things...

Can someone let me know who I need to email about the shirts? I want to get mine and I have no idea who to pay. I ordered them and don't want to leave someone hanging.

What is everyone's nutrition plan for race day?
