wurkit_gurl - 2009-01-16 10:03 AM And now, I am going to go get lunch. And possibly something delicious. And not my usual yogurt and cucumber slices.

That actually sounds yummy to me.  I lof cucs and yogurt.  Not every day, but it sounds good.  I was eating raw carrots every day for a while, and grew to dislike them.  But if they are dipped in some hummus, yum.

i want to buy a food processor JUST so i can make my own hummus.  that is just silly.  where would i put a hummus processor?

Get a really small one.  Like this:

small food processor link

I basically only use mine for hummus and guac.

I LOVE my food processor. I have the kind that has a big bowl and a small bowl and I do make my own bean dip on occasion

Just called one of the temp agencies and got an appointment for Wednesday.

YAH!! Now......suggest books for me to buy/read regarding Literature please.......

Oh jeez, um, where do I begin??! There's lots and lots out there. You want actual lit, or theory or critical/scholarly works? What subjects? Latino? Any subject? I'm not too up on my Latino literature - I've just read some Borges, Marquez, the standards, ya know.

Random question - would it be bad form to let friends know that I am looking for something? In case anyone knows of anything or hears of anything? Or woudl that make people feel obligated?

TriAya - 2009-01-16 12:15 PM Why does "misspell" have two s's, but "threshold" has only one h?

pronunciation....mis-'spell

Pronunciation: 'thresh-?hold, 'thre-?shold

maybe this helps... .or not :D

Not bad form at all--very wise, in fact! Let anyone and everyone know you're looking for a job. Keep a resume handy at all times, too. You just never know who you're going to run into.

Yeah, I would email the choir.

I just wasn't sure if it was tacky or not to do so. But desperate times...

yeah, just start with "hey guys, it's chrissy.  unfortunately, i was laid off today because the company decided they no longer needed someone in my position (or whatever).  i've attached my resume and i'm asking if you know anyone that may have any opportunities in ___ ___ or ____ type positions, could you forward this along to them.  thanks so much for your time and your prayers."

short, succinct, not asking for pity or whatever.  nobody will be offended.  avoid emailing anyone else that's been laid off or has had a spouse laid off...that may be tacky

Hmm...I don't KNOW if anyone has been laid off. Crap. I know of my other friends who is employed (at least I think!! No one has said that they've been canned).
