It's been kind of sneaking up on me, but today I'm EXCITED !

Weather forecast for PCB next Saturday is Beautiful!  Sunny, 56 degrees at 6 am,  high of 75,  68 at 6 pm and 62 at Midnight.  Winds - 3-5 mph all. day. long.  I cannot think of a nicer day to do an Iron Man.

Packing today.  after a nap perhaps.  I'm just not used to not having a 6 hour ride on Saturday. Tongue out

I fly down there Tuesday.  Anyone up for a morning swim on Wednesday?

I am getting there Tuesday night so I would be up for a swim Wednesday.

Just read this on CNN:

At least four states in its path, as well as the nation's capital, have declared states of emergency, and some airlines have announced they will allow passengers to change existing flights to and from Atlantic coast cities free of charge.

If you are flying down, check the airline, you might be able to switch.

Thanks.  I think Delta is one of those airlines.  But to when is the question.  I'm concerned that registration ends on Thursday afternoon and if the entire East coast is trying to change flights to avoid the storm's impact, then it's possible that we might miss registration.  Do you think IMFL will re-open registration on Friday morning because of travel issues for folks who live on the East Coast?

Man, I've done all this training and prepared for a year or so for this race and then Mother Nature decides to flex her muscles....couldn't you wait until after the race???

Athelete Guide has emergency contact info on page 6. Opens up on Wednesday. Seems like it woud be a good idea to call if it still looks dicey by then.

3000 yard swim followed by 3 hours on the trainer. No wind here in TN just cold and yucky. Got through half of the Two Towers and most of Return of the King! Got a 9 mile run tomorrow and then just tune ups until race day! Woohoo!

Cool, how about same time, same place:  Boardwalk beach hotel, on the boardwalk (beach side of hotel), meet at 8:00.  You've seen my picture (avitar) I'll wear my BT shirt, but it may be chilly and covered up.  Everyone who's in town on Wed, Thurs, Fri are welcome to these swims.  Friends and family as well.

Of course it's swim at your own risk.

I arrive Tuesday but won't have access to my wetsuit until Weds afternoon as it is with by bike and tri bag  which are in route to FL.  I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday and Friday.

Safe travels to everyone and here's hoping that the storm doesn't cause major travel issues for  those on the east coast.

For those in the north east, here's what I just sent to the RD.  I'll let you know if/when I receive a response.

I'm sure you've already received this question, however are there any plans to allow participants traveling from the north east to check in late (on Friday) if flights are cancelled / delayed due to Hurricane Sandy?  I am scheduled to fly out of Hartford on Wednesday and it appears that there is good chance the flight may be cancelled or delayed a day or more.  Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for your email.  I sent one too.  Hopefully alot of us did.  I'm scheduled to leave out of Westchester/While Plains airport on Wednesday and think it's a good bet that my flight will be delayed.

Not much wind/rain here yet, but it's apparently going to start for real later tonite.  Stay safe everyone.

Driving is the last option, but unfortunately, I'm considering it.  I would rather have a poor finish time because I'm tired from driving than a DNS.

I'm thinking about it as well.  Its about a 22 hour drive for me.  Going to see how things play out over the next 24-48 hours.

I'm doing the same thing.  If I drive, probably leaving Tuesday sometime.

Seems like we should rent a bus and make a few stops in the CT/NY/NJ area so we can all get there safe and in time.

I am leaving early am Thursday from Boston. It looks like Boston won't be as bad as I thought since the storms peak is Monday/Tuesday. However, will it have ripple affects on flights till Thursday? Or do they keep flights the same and its only people cancelled Monday/Tuesday flights that have to figure out alternative plans? I don't know if I should try to leave earlier or not?

Both malls in Panama City Beach have trick or treating for the kids. I took ours to Pier Park Mall a couple years ago and they had a great time.

I saw that pier park was suppose to have trick or treating and that's what we were thinking of doing. If any other BT's would like to meet up or join I think that would be fun. My family is staying at the Shores of Panama.

Also a heads up for those that have kids. IM sent out an email this weekend with a few coupons on it. The Wonder Works coupon is 20% off. My kids love that place so we will be taking advantage of that. There is also the Gulf World coupon and it has 30% off the price of swimming with the dolphins. That a big discount, my wife booked this for my little girl. That is what she wanted for her birthday. She turns eight on race day ; )

Depends on where your plane is coming from, the airline you're flying and how long filights were cancelled for.  Even if the weather id fine on Thursday morning (which it should be) there can be issues.  My biggest concern is that there are predicted wind gusts of 30-40 mph through Thursday because of the hard turn the storm is taking and planes wont be allowed off of the ground in that kind of wind.

How is the neighboorhood the run course goes through for bringing little ones trick or treating.  My three year old is a shark, my wife is a lifeguard and I am a shark attack victim and my cure is candy.

I think we are planing on taking our kids (7 and 4) to Pier Park.  My wife is planning everything and I believe she said we are going to Seaside early afternoon for something they are putting on and then heading to Pier Park.

Also staying at the Shores of Panama with trick-or-treating kids.  Looking at going to the mall with the kids for a little while.  Would also be fun to get a list of Shores people so the kids could trick-or-treat at the condo as well.   Maybe plan a time for "condo trick-or-treating"?
