I am VERY excited about the BMX cycling, this is the first olympic games to feature bicycle motocross and I think this is going to be lots of fun to watch. This will be my number 1 thing to watch.

Aside from that, I'm sure I will be watching the swim events, the other cycling events, gymnastics (also a favorite), the track and field events, and of course triathlon.

The Summer Olympics are one of my most favorite things in the world. I love it all! For two weeks, every four years, ever since I was a kid, I become a hermit .

Nobody's pumped for badmitton??? Come on people!!! That's a sport that requires iron will determination, stamina, and a sense of humor...

My wife likes the trampoline.  Do they have that this year?  I wish I could fence, I'd probably do alright with the pentathlon.

This is the first time the US may have a decent showing in badminton, but I am sure we'll concede to China. Not sure if the trampoline is still there; it was only introduced in 2000, so I am going to say YES.

Thanks guys!  (I wish I had some curls to towel.  My hair is super strait. )

I've been on the phone with Garmin for two hours today!!  My Forerunner quit talking to the computer program.  It is all fixed now, however, my bike rides are gone.  My ride on Sunday got corrupted somehow and then fowled up the whole program.  Sunday was the day that I bonked during my bike ride, too.  I kinda wanted to see the data.  I did manage to upload the info to BT.  Check it out on Sunday.  My heartrate was all over the place.  Too bad it isn't as detailed as the Garmin program.

Hope everyone is doing good today!  Cheers!

Good news at last! I've been cleared by my insurance to get an MRI... sigh of relief... now I can start worrying about other stuff like either something really bad being wrong or nothing wrong and get on the bad side of the insurance company... well at least I'll finally find out and stop guessing....

While I'm posting, happy birthday Owl Girl!!

Thanks for commenting on my bonk, Lauren.  I've been super tired lately and I think it finally caught up with me over the weekend.  I'm sure that is what caused the problems.  My HR is never that high when I run!  This little break has been good for me.

On a side note.  Our new fridge has arrived!!!!  It is so pretty and black and BIG!!!!!  And it has pull out shelves so things don't get lost in the back!!!!  Weeeeee!!!!  I'm so excited!!!!!

happy birthday tracy!!!

i just got back 2 minutes ago from my very spontaneous and very quick trip to california!  i went to my 10 year high school reunion, and spent 2 days with my gpa and family.  it was nice.  but i had 3 hour layovers both flights in atlanta!  so i've had a couple of looooooong days lately.  now i'm back with my hubby and can't wait for the olympics!

i like the basics: swimming, running, gymnastics.  some diving too.  of course, i would also love to catch the triathlon races.

Big Black Fridge??? That's not much of a birthday present.  Something to be excited about though definitely.  Happy for you!

Tracy, The guidance I got about a HR spike just recently was about electrolytes.  I dunno how much it truly factors, but I hear that's the line.  I also heard that Bonking isn't terrible for you.  It forces you into a position where your body starts using fat for fuel which isn't as efficient as glycogen so you can't go as hard or fast, but you can keep going. It's just bad when it happens in a race because you want to keep going as fast as possible.

Pre-Mohawk hair is growing-in nicely...

By the way, great website below if you're in the mood to blow-off work for a little while.  Some good videos.

Bonking is bad for you. And, no offense, but I highly doubt that Tracy truly "bonked." With a true bonk, you can't even keep yourself on two feet to get yourself into the house or safety, etc. But, I don't know the details of what happened out there. That said, there is NOTHING good about bonking. It doesn't force your body into anything (at least nothing it will learn from), and it takes a long time to recover from. Bonk, like really bonk, a few weeks before an 'A' race, and you're probably screwed. Getting yourself into a position at all in which you get dizziness, sweats, etc., is not good. AVOID IT AT ALL COST!!!!!!!!!!

I hate layovers. Grr. I typically feel like time stands still on a plane, and so adding a layover to the trip just makes it seem that much longer. Plus, my first flight usually always runs late, and then I end up being all stressed about catching my next flight. At least with a 3-hr layover you didn't haev to worry about that .

I hope you had fun at the reunion!

Can't wait for all the Olympic conversations we'll be having.

Yeah, it was a bonk.  I had to stop.  I just about fell off my bike while unclipping.  My husband rode home and got the truck to come pick me and my bike up.  I was all tingly and crying and frustrated.  I want to go for a run really bad but I'm still exhausted.  I may run on the treadmill so I don't have to worry about being far from home.

Yuck, that sounds awful! Yeah, definitely take it easy. Recovering from that can be as tough as recovering from a really long race, etc. Really listen to your body. Sorry you had to go thru it .
