The hubby did very well on my birthday gift.  Remember my bike computer fell off during my last race?  Well he replaced it with a Garmin 305 Edge!!!   I am excited!!!

That sounds great. I'll bet your wanting to get out and try it.

I am considering doing a January full mary (first one). Anyone have any advice as to how to bump up the running while maintaining bike and swim fitness? I mean without going splat. I could just do minimal run fitness for the mary and go like 3 runs a week, short, medium and long with emphasis on getting that darn long over 14 miles. I may need to cut back on the swim or drop it as the water temp drops below 50 in the lake, for a month or 2 until my home stuff is done. Man construction stuff goes slow in really rural areas.

Anyway I run slowly, but have averaged 87 miles a month for the year. I know I will have to up that, but feel ok up to about 13-14 miles once a week for the long runs. Time and daylight will be increasingly difficult during the winter months. Anyway open to suggestions.

I've heard of people following a mary training program from BT and then adding the biking on the "light" run days.  Since you are going to be delayed on your swimming you could do it that way. Then alternate swimming with the biking on light days, or turn some of the runs into bricks.

Some of the plans I looked at had cross (something other than running) and strength days built in.  You could use those days to ride and swim and then just follow the plan.  I think Hal Higdon was one of the names mentioned in another forum and I found my half-marathon plan on www.runnersworld.com

woo hoo, got my first workout since the crash in today.  Still have a cold so lots of hacking while running but still got it in.  Plus I am visiting family in Minnesota, brr... it was 30 something this morning when we got up.

yeah my wife is doing a running plan in conjunction with her tri plan, just substitute the run days with your marathon plans.  She is doing Baltimore marathon next weekend.

Still not 100 percent post him.

Brrr 45 F air, 55 F water, 10-20 mph wind, rain = lovely OWS swim 1.7 miles or whatever. My feet were numb for 1 hour after I finished. That lake is not getting any warmer.

Looks like maybe drop the swim and run.

Those handle bars work as alerons right? That is a really cool looking design on those alone. Grats on getting it put together by yourself.

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU YOUNG SKYWALKER!!!   Very nice job assembling her.

Just got back from my Army 10 miler race in DC.  Farthest I've ever run.  First 3 miles were tough, I got another cramp in my upper abs and diaphragm (I must figure out why that keeps happening). Miles 3-7 were fantastic, mile 7 was getting tired, 8 was a killer and 9 at least was the last mile so I knew it was over!   Beautiful course.  We started and finished at the Pentagon and then ran around the Smithsonian Mall, the Capital building, the monuments, and the Potomac.  And it was very organized for 26,000 people.  My hip flexers were/are so sore that on mile 8 walking didn't feel any better than running (if you can call what I was doing for that mile running).  My husband was such a sweety and he stayed with me the whole time.  For the last .5 miles he took my hand and we crossed the finish line together.

I  hope everyone had a great weekend.

What a great way to finish the race Tracy. Looks like you have yourself a good man.

Steve at what speed does your bike switch into hyperspace?

Got out yesterday and everything is so different... Positioning, handling, gearing, etc... The bike felt great, and HANDLED well,  I just have to get used to things!  Felt awesome climbing hills as well!  Which is good, because that is all we have around here!

Great news Steve - Glad to see it rode so nice!  I definitely like the stealth look of it vs. all stickered up!

Congrats Tracey!  Excellent race - that would be fun to run through Washington.

Ok so last week's run felt pretty good and today is a short 1 hour run. So I decide to just start strong and see how well I hold it.... 7.3 miles in an hour. Wow 8:14 min mile or some such, where did that come from?

Like I am usualy happy with anything close to 10 min mile for anything over 6 miles. Myabe it was a fluke. Wouldn't it be neat if it really was just magic, you build vollume for 1 year and then an angel comes down and bops you on the head and says, "for dedication and many dog slow miles I grant you 2 min/mile off your one hour run times."

Anyway, we see if it holds for later this week 8).

Baowolf - 2008-10-06 7:50 PM Ok so last week's run felt pretty good and today is a short 1 hour run.

Many people would find this remark "arrogant."  A SHORT 1 HR. RUN??? GREAT JOB!  All the hard work is paying off!  Congrats!
