I think Jack knows of an opening at a nice club.  How do you feel about tuna sandwiches?

wurkit_gurl - 2009-01-16 4:21 PM So in telling peeps I'm looking - just word of mouth on the sly, or email?

be direct.  if it were me, i'd email my whole church.

Yeah, I would email the choir.

I just wasn't sure if it was tacky or not to do so. But desperate times...

yeah, just start with "hey guys, it's chrissy.  unfortunately, i was laid off today because the company decided they no longer needed someone in my position (or whatever).  i've attached my resume and i'm asking if you know anyone that may have any opportunities in ___ ___ or ____ type positions, could you forward this along to them.  thanks so much for your time and your prayers."

short, succinct, not asking for pity or whatever.  nobody will be offended.  avoid emailing anyone else that's been laid off or has had a spouse laid off...that may be tacky

Hmm...I don't KNOW if anyone has been laid off. Crap. I know of my other friends who is employed (at least I think!! No one has said that they've been canned).

You'd know, if they had they'd have probably sent out a mass email.

Any computer geeks out there? I'm trying to get a bunch of old info (allegedly music I've downloaded over the past, 8-9 years) off of a hard drive I have in an external hard drive enclosure.  I don't think the drive is bad, but 2 different computers won't pick it up and I've tried it in 2 different enclosures.  Any ideas?

I'd make sure that you are using a USB 2.0 connection.. thats the only thing i can think that might make it not connect... also make sure the external hard drive is plugged in :D

I'm starting to wonder if the HD is bad.  It's crashed my new Win Vista machine twice now.

I've done it both ways.  Right now trying to plug it in while the computer is already running. It used to be able to do that.
