Champion 8766 Evergreen, Colorado | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread MRDAVIDALEXANDER - 2012-10-28 7:12 PM I am leaving early am Thursday from Boston. It looks like Boston won't be as bad as I thought since the storms peak is Monday/Tuesday. However, will it have ripple affects on flights till Thursday? Or do they keep flights the same and its only people cancelled Monday/Tuesday flights that have to figure out alternative plans? I don't know if I should try to leave earlier or not? They keep flights the same and the people with the cancelled flights have to fit in somewhere else. In other words, they won't cancel YOUR Thursday seat to put someone on who had a flight on Monday. They will try to fit those people from Monday into whatever spare seats are available on your plane. The only "ripple affect" you should see is really really really full flights. FWIW, that's why when there was that huge Christmas blizzard in the Denver area a few years back a lot of people just cancelled their plans. I think the blizzard hit the 21st or 22nd...by the time the people on those cancelled flights could get to their destinations (2-4 days later) they would have had to turn around and come straight back. |

Weather forecast for PCB next Saturday is Beautiful! Sunny, 56 degrees at 6 am, high of 75, 68 at 6 pm and 62 at Midnight. Winds - 3-5 mph all. day. long. I cannot think of a nicer day to do an Iron Man. Packing today. after a nap perhaps. I'm just not used to not having a 6 hour ride on Saturday. I fly down there Tuesday. Anyone up for a morning swim on Wednesday? I am getting there Tuesday night so I would be up for a swim Wednesday. Cool, how about same time, same place: Boardwalk beach hotel, on the boardwalk (beach side of hotel), meet at 8:00. You've seen my picture (avitar) I'll wear my BT shirt, but it may be chilly and covered up. Everyone who's in town on Wed, Thurs, Fri are welcome to these swims. Friends and family as well. Of course it's swim at your own risk.
I will be up for swims on Thursday and Friday... I am arriving late on Tuesday so I may chose to sleep in and then swim a little later in the day Wednesday. - I just need to get into the ocean and work out the goggles and salt water/fish phobia and I am good to go!

Oh, the fish phobia thing. Me too. That's why I like the group swim. Gives me something to think about and people to visit with, takes my mind off the things that probably aren't there, but my mind thinks are. Safe travels |

Veteran 593 Mandeville | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Some of you might remember that I made a little photo video of my 2010 IM race (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzGjS33lf-Y&feature=plcp) and things have kinda snowballed since then where I seem to make one now for alot of big races we do. Anyway we have a group of 6 of us from our group doing IMFLA so I made a little pre race video with some pics of us all since the day we volunteered last November. They don't want to see it until Friday night, but since none of them lurk or post here, I thought I would share it. |

I don't see real time tracking on the app site. It says they just use the data collected from ironman live. Screen shots on the site show the same. Also, it looks like some folks tried using it at longhorn yesterday and it did not work. The reviews written today look more like they were written by the developer. Can you verify the app you are referring to was developed by big island software... Real time tracking via iphone would be cool |

IronTrac is written byBig Island Software. All it does is crawl the Ironman site. If Ironman delays splits, then IronTrac will be delayed. Find Friends is written by Apple (I think). Has nothing to do with Ironman. It's just an app where you can send friend requests. You can then track other friends that accepted you (They have to have the app too). It is real time tracking because it shows where you are on the map. I have used during the RnR New Orleans marathon. |

Member 50 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I bolted from Philly Sunday morning and am now all settled in PCB! So glad I got out when I did, just hoping my husband can get down here in time. On Saturday night he rescheduled his Wed flight to Thurs to up his chances of getting out w/o any issues. Hopefully things are working better by then. Delta was offering the chance to change your flights for free due to the weather so look into your carrier if need be. They also changed my ticket to a one way home and credited me back $170. The wait time was ridiculous, but it was worth it. Question...I was a little shocked when we arrived into town. We came in on 98 and turned left onto Thomas Drive. I guess I wasn't expecting so much traffic. Is the whole course really crowded with cars? We are going to drive part of it later this week. |

The fish aren't so bad but on several IM swims there I can recall lots of pretty jellies...ever watch Spongebob?? It is pretty ethereal so don't fret! :D Edited by Mimir98 2012-10-29 11:17 PM |
