I'm getting concerned about how much I am giving up in life for IM training and what I will have to give up going forward. It's like life is on pause until June. Not that I'm not okay with that sacrifice. I am. I am just a little nervous about it.ATXtri - 2008-11-04 8:40 AM Hi Tan. I feel like I'm in a bit of a funk. Help. big man bewb hug..... BAJINGO OLE! Well, I have 3 young sons - I'm sacrificing a LOT of time not being with them. There's a perspective. You're sacrificing travel, wages, not spending time on the boobtube (heh heh, I said "boob", heh heh), some social life activities. Anything else? I find just training for regular triathlons (not IM distance) is a pretty big drain on a social life. Even following the training plan for the Oly here on BT, it had many days of double work-outs. And when you live in a place where you have to drive somewhere else to run or bike, it eats up time. I have to say no to a lot of things. Esp. when I've already got a weeknight or two eaten up by other things I do, like choir. I feel that in the spring, choir and bible study are going to be missed on occasion to get in training.

Yikes - well, fortunately, I don't let it get in the way of my job. But yeah, part of the reason why I've been single for the past 2 years (or at least the last year and a half of those 2 years) is because of triathlons. You spend your time alone, so you don't meet people. |

I've never eat candy, then I randomly buy a box at the store. Poof! 1200 calories of pure sugar are consumed within 24 hours. |

Sensei Sin City | Subject: RE: #57 - I Need a Drink - Gin and TANic So, my wife says the other day that she's sick, but then wants pizza, so she says she's NOT sick (because I want to stay away from sick people). I believed her, now she says she is sick again. PLUS, a coworker is sick.... I woke up last night, and felt a scratchy throat and sinus congestion. But it may have been in my head because I feel ok today.
I guess I have to admit, I was pretty pissed last night... I put in 5 months of my life to train for this race, and the wife gets sick and has NO issue to want to make out and possibly get me sick. Her solution was "it's ok to make out with me if you take and airborn". I sort of think it's selfish... Hopefully, I DON'T get sick, and it's a none issue. But if I do, and it hurts or cancels my race. We could have some issues to workout at home. About respect and consideration. I know she wants affection and pizza, but to jeapordize my race? (and it's just not ANY race) I have had a hard time working this out in my head the last 24 hours.... It hurts... |

My husband was sick the week before my marathon and I wouldn't kiss him or anything. He understood. An airborne really isn't going to help that much. It's not an anti-viral drug, so you can easily still get sick. |
