I think the Folsom Olympic Triathlon is my new favorite. And NO, its not because I came in 3rd in the athena division, OR because I was within 3 minutes of my goal of 3 hours, 30 minutes. It was just downright well done! Aid stations were where they were needed, the courses were great (well, except for the 2nd quarter of the bike, which was ALL uphill in a headwind, but that will be in my RR), and there was even an 'instructional cheerleader' placed at the bike/run out of transition! (even after the race--the guy brought a smile to my face every time I was there!). So apparently, if you place a this race, you win a bottle of wine....kinda a bummer, as I don't like wine, so I will find a home for the pretty bottle of chardonnay (sp????).

In any case, Great race, awesome swim, decent bike, and best run I have ever done. I will get to the RR either tonight or tomorrow....Just amped up and tired (AT THE SAME TIME) right now...so I'm a wee bit loopy(er than normal)...

It sounds like you had a terrific race. I'm looking forward to reading the race report.

It was like Best Party Ever Popping Out of a Box.

And SO NEEDED!!!!!

Hooray! I'm glad you got it, and at a great time.

The Indonesian postal service was the topic of a very long underground conversation. I admit that I also had images of postal workers snacking on pop tarts.

Well isn't that nice?!  me and DH want to be cremated, our ashes to be scattered on the island we met and later married, Kefalonia.  Hopefully many many years from now!

Been the longest day ever today, system was down all morning so no BT!!! Yikes!

Swim squad tonight, what strange torture will Coach Johnny come up with tonight, !

I'm giving my body to science or a medical school.

That is awesome.  It is so helpful.

That is our plan, too.

My mom, brother, and I joke all the time.  We told my mom that after she is cremated (her wishes), we are taking her ashes on a roller coaster, throwing her off a mountain, etc.  All the things she is afraid to do now.  We're a little strange like that.

Asalzwed - 2012-08-20 12:10 PM Oh sweet baby Jesus I am probably happier you received that package than you! I was sure the Manatees had begun to think I took their money and cards for myself! Seriously, I've had some major anxiety. Phhhhhhheeeeeeew! Enjoy, Yanti!

Nah...we knew you could never eat that many PopTarts.

I actually don't like popcorn!

Had a great day at the HM yesterday, I found it easy (definitely didn't go hard!)  I decided to keep it as a training run, set out very cruise speed, increased speed at 7km and again at 14km, in fact my last 7km was my fastest and I enjoyed lots of overtaking as i had so much left in my legs.  Thanks Jeff Galloway for all those run/walk tips!

I've done the RR such as it is.  Baptism was okay - I'm not big on Greek Orthodox as a religion, very much pomp and ceremony and less about what it should be.  Poor baby gets stripped naked and it was cold, covered in oil and dunked in a font of water, then priest has to snip a lock of hair and poor Persephone she's not got much and I think he pulled it coz she shrieked!  In fact she cried all the way through.

BUT the feast was good - so much food, even a HM didn't justify what i ate!

I'm tired, a bit depressed this morning, standard for a post race morning.

cough, cough hey girl heeeeeeeeeey. Can you be August in our Manatee calendar please Great job with your race-I mean training run. Great job taking it easy but also steadily increasing the pace! [/QUgOTE]I thought I was August? . Great job on keeping it a training run Jo, but enjoying yourself too!!!

Oh oh oh, ok. You are August and Jo is September, makes sense with the orange/more fall-like color anyhow . Sorry to bump you Jo (OR MAYBE I'M HAPPY TO Wink!!!)

Phew!  What a fun weekend.  Well, I guess the middle can't really be considered fun, cause I worked on Saturday, but still.  On Friday evening, my brother and I took my youngest nephew fishing.  They have a kayak, so we went out to the lake.  They went out in the kayak, while I fished from shore for about an hour, then I went out on the kayak.  We only had one bite between us, but it was a beautiful evening and we all had fun.

Yesterday, my brother and I took nephew #1 bike riding.  He is 9, and only has a single gear bike.  We went to Pender Island, which is a small island in the Strait of Georgia.  My brother and I used to load up our bikes and go camping when we were young adults (we would camp in a field near the Marina.  There was a pub there.  'Nuff said).  So anyway, all totalled, from one end to the island and back is 40km.  There are a couple good hills, but mostly rolling farm-ish land.  My nephew did great.  He had to walk many of the hills, but never complained.  We stopped and had lunch at the far end of the island, right on the ocean.  We got to see many deer, one right on the road, including a doe with 2 fawns munching on the Salal.  What a fantastic day!!  The funniest part was when we got off the ferry back on the mainland and we were riding our bikes back to the car my nephew says "I don't dare let my butt touch the seat"  I laughed so hard I almost fell off my bike.  The poor little man!  Ah well, he is starting training for the 10km we will do together in Oct this week, so he can avoid the bike for a few days Laughing

That sounds like a perfect weekend!!!! I love this so much.

This reminds me, my brother was the one who took my training wheels off my bike when I was little. He just sent me a message stating that he has decided that it will be my job to decide when my niece takes hers off.

We had a sandwich making contest when I was in the sixth grade. To win, you actually had to eat your sandwiches. My team won, of course, mainly because the team vying for Most Ingredients couldn't eat theirs, and it looked a lot like that Energy Bar Sandwich.

I get really carried away with sandwiches and hamburgers. I just love veggies so I add as many as possible. But I also love meat, so I add as much of that as I can, too. This was a "mini" burger that I made not too long ago. I had to use a Kebab stick to keep it all together.
