I'm totally procrastinating again. Put in a really long tough day full of meetings (good, productive, some were tough, my brother made a guy cry and told him he's lucky it wasn't me talking to him or he'd be black and blue, true) ... then dinner and Yahtzee with Mutti. She trounced me as usual.

Doing a fly-out to Bali early morn tomorrow, whirlwind of errands and document-location around the Funny Farm, and back to Jakarta by evening.

Woah, that's a long day right there.

Yanti's dapper dude-dad circa 1958, in New York City.

Really hadn't changed that much over 50 years later. Just for the record, he was definitely the best-looking corpse I've ever seen, and I've seen a few hundred probably.

I also did the ceremonial Muslim washing of the body and preparation for burial. I think in most Muslim cultures, but definitely many Indonesian cultures regardless, it's the family that takes care of their loved one's body.

It was a great honor and such a tender thing to do for my dad. He was also a clean freak so I know he appreciated the thoroughness Also the Muslim cleric who was there supervising--basically just the hospital chaplain, if you will--was a super, super guy.

I think it's nice you can be part of the process like that.

Sometimes I feel like we are so disconnected from death.

What a nice way to honour one's loved one in death.

Trying to plan some tris leading up to AG Nats. First, this IS a good idea, no?

Second, should I just do sprints leading up to it or should I do an Oly or two? I know recovery for a sprint is minimal, I'v never really done a true Oly but I imagine it's not bad.

My plan is to try and train right through them with no taper and limited recovery time. Since I am slightly pinched for training anyway.

crap.

i just shed a tear--one tear--going through one of my dad's old wallets. He had his Senate ID card, House of Representatives ID card, and his gun permit in there. HAHAHA

I have no idea why that's all really funny to me, but it is. Juxtaposition?

I don't know what Senate or House badges look like in the US, but I think it's really funny--kind of like an official, HI, MY NAME IS tag.

Oooh Diego Rivera's murals are on display at MoMA. I might have to be a total tourist and get a multi-museum pass so I can get to the Guggenheim, too. Crap I still need a date to the Nets game!

What a responsible rep.Smile

I worked as a senate page for a WA State Senator in high school lol. We had badges a lot like that. I don't remember what the reps or senators had.

This grief thing is currently like a wicked munchie that can't be satisfied.

Howl at the moon if you like.   It occasionally works for me.  Convenient full moon coming up.

I howled in here just yesterday

We Ardie siblings do say, "Howl at it, growl at it, bark at it." That solves a lot of problems right off the bat. Even if not, we feel better.

Moi aussi, mon chéri.

No shyte, right? I'll post it here for posterity too and because Skrat asked for stories. That's a 1000-word one right there!

You have to get Dice with Buddies on your phone then we can play!

I've tried to track Boston runners before and haven't been able. My agency may block it or I may just have a lousy phone. I'll try again with you, but if I can't I can track you via Boston's website ( I think)

I dunno about the app but I used a very similar text message system for my cousin running the LA marathon and it worked like a charm. Sent me his splits via text and then finishing time
