Excited for the half marathon this weekend, but especially excited to meet up with the gang!  Wish you were ALL coming!

Rob-I know you did your best with everything that was going on with your brother.

Suzy-I look forward to the Wednesday question and to see who's racing.  That one week you went missing, it was like coming home to an empty house!  sad!  Yes, I know someone could have filled in for you but no one wanted to.

Had a decent training month but didn't post so I guess it didn't really happen. Kind of like John's month . I'll have to make sure I post my workouts this month.

I wrote my university exam for Personal Trainer last night and what a cluster f@#!. Brain was like mush and about 2 hours in I felt like walking out. Hung in till the 3 1/2 hours was up and felt better at the end of it. Now have to wait 2/3 weeks for the results. I think I might do some more studying in case I have to rewrite. I was a little disappointed with my performance last night but did my best in the end. So now its hurry up and wait.

Maybe your way is better.  I'm studying to take my PMP certification exam  (Project Mamagement Professional).  It is a 4 hour computer exam and at the end the computer gives you a PASS/FAIL report right there!  Well - that is after you wait the longest 10 seconds of your life!   I think I'll go train for am IM instead, it's gotta be easier than this crap!

SSMinnow - 2010-12-01 6:00 AM Ok, it's Wednesday...who's rocking a race? give us the details!

PS. I'm wondering if we should be keeping this up over the off season so weigh in people!

I AM!  First half marathon on Sunday.  Weather outlook looks good.  Not sure I am really ready for it.

And we should keep this up during the off-season.  It's always good to know what everyone is up to.

John - Sophie has 4 legs and she just sleeps all day resting up for her next run

Linda - it's always fun to hear about your water polo superstar son - congratulations to him!

Glen and the Vegas crew - good luck to all of you, we'll be tracking and cheering you on!

I'm racing this weekend - well, running anyway. I'm running a trail marathon in Southern Indiana, where the glaciers didn't scour all the hills away. My plan is to take it nice and easy, walk the hills, stop to take in nutrition at the aid stations, and stay warm. Just a long run through the woods. Oh, and there are no timing pads, so no tracking, but I'll try to check in when I'm done.

I think I am going to take that also here sometime soon.

And the computer exams beat the 3 week wait you used to have to go through to find out if you passed.

Strategy?  Hmm...finish?

This is a bridge race over the Houston Ship channel with 2 passes over the bridge.  I am planning to stay in in Z2 for the first pass of the bridge until the turnaround then ramp up a bit going back over the bridge to the finish line.  I have target paces in mind....but known only to me.

It should be an interesting race given the bridge.  The weather is supposed to be mild (50's/60's) and hoping the wind will be calm as well.  Whatever happens, I plan to enjoy the experience, the view, and finish strong.

No racing here.  Got a packed weekend though...holiday party at the neighbors Friday night, coaching at a youth wrestling tournament all day Saturday (both Tommy and Cody are wrestling), some things around the house Sunday and then flying to Kentucky for work Sunday night.  Hopefully fit some kind of training in Sunday before I leave.

Good luck to all of our runners this weekend - Glen, Julia, and the LV crew.  Make us proud!

George, have any good ideas on how to get intouch with the local Wrestling teams?  I e-mailed a few in the area and didnt' get any responses.  Trying to get my son into a program.  Do you know how young they normally can start?

Try here...
http://www.themat.com/usawrestling.org/membership.php?page=display_clubs&state_id=47

Lot of VA teams listed, just don't know which ones are in your area.

Here is another list...
http://www.virginiawrestling.com/vawa/usa-clubs/
(this might actually be the same list in a different format)

Another path would be to contact your local HS wrestling coach and see if he knows of any programs.

Tommy started when he was 4 and Cody is starting now when he is 4.  That is on the young side.  The coach let me bring Tommy because I agreed to help out (caution!!!  now I am the coach!).  We have five 5 year olds on the team and the ages go up to 12.  Or program is geared towards introducing the kids to wrestling, teaching them basic moves, and having fun.  There are some competitive programs out there that won't start kids until they are in 1st or 2nd grade because the little ones are a lot of work!  Since it is a club sport, not really goverened a league (like most soccer and baseball programs, and other sports) there is a lot of variability in the ages.

Sorry - t?hat is kind ??o?f? ?a? ?l?o?n?g? ?w?i?n?d?e?d? ?a?n?s?w?e?r?.? ? ??I?f? ?y?o?u? ?w?a?n?t? ?m?o?r?e? ?i?n?f?o?,? ?p?m? ?m?e?.
