I hate people! I want to get out in my kayak, and none of the trips my club is going on suit me, so I found a PA Creekers group on facebook. You can't just join, they have to approve you. I requested yesterday, and overnight I got a snippy response from their admin telling me I was denied because he saw no evidence on my page that I was from pa, or even liked to paddle, and he was considering reporting me to facebook for wanting to join their page because it was suspicious.

Seriously?

I replied back that I have lived in PA my entire life, I am the proud owner of 6 kayaks, and a member of the CCGH. I told him it was all good, I'm not really interested in being part of a group that is so judgemental anyway.

Some groups of enthusiasts are just elitist bastards! I have found that in kayaking, biking, contra dancing... etc. Better to find out before going paddling with them. That is odd, too. I enjoy lots of things that are not reflected in my facebook page.

Your spot on with the elitist thing. And don't judge me by my facebook page, it is FAR FAR FAR from who I really truly am.

Wow, to be judged by what you post on Facebook.  Crazy.  I will say this is why I have not found a bicycle group to ride with here.  Even when they tell you that they have C riders, the next thing I know, I'm riding by myself on roads I don't know because I have been "dropped" by a "no drop" ride.  Thus, very few rides happen on the road for me.

That's total BS. What part of "no drop ride" don't they understand? If they want to race it, then maybe they should be riding up a group. Bring your bike and come up here.

Good morning Ghoulies!  This presentation is driving me crazy.  I feel like I have read hundreds of articles and I'm trying to cull information.  I did find in one article where they actually mentioned that creating the service desk they modeled it after what the public libraries had been already doing for several years.  Woot!  It is kind of funny.  I always thought that Academic Libraries were something to aspire to, but the more I am learning, I realize how much all libraries pay attention to what is happening in the Public libraries and then look to see if they can use that information in their own.  Very interesting.

Tell me again why I want to jump ship.

Oh yeah.  No pay increase in 6 years and none anticipated for another 3.  Board of Directors that are really Dictators and think they know how to run a library.  A boss who is not supportive, you ask a question and never get an answer unless you ask it again about 4 more times.  Yup, I do want out.

Portland just caught a bird. I managed to get the bird free, and it flew away. Now Portland is crying miserably to be let back outside. Sorry kitty, no birds on the menu today.

Today I am playing hooky from work.  I am heading out in a few minutes to go and pick up Frank so that we can go and pick up our packets for the Peachtree Road Race (July 4th).

Good Morning Ghoulies!

We have had 90* weather for 3 or 4 days now.  It has been wonderful without rain, but we are certainly not used to dealing with that kind of heat.  A lot of houses up here do not have a/c including MY house!  However, we do have a window unit in the bedroom, thankfully!

This morning is cloudy and in the low 60s, but this afternoon is supposed to be in the 80s again.  Not really complaining, because I love the sunshine and I work in an a/c building, but people are wilting around here!

There has been all kinds of sucktastic going on around me lately. It can stop any time now.

Robin and Kendra - We won't be making it to Lake Lure in August.   I was hoping to put off buying a car until October or November, I won't be able to wait that long, I need to buy one soon.

Along with losing my wfh ability, I will not get to go on vacation with my family in 11 days. There is a big project at work, that I was told I need to be here for. I am beyond pi$$ed off about this!

The list could go on, but it's just more of the same. I'm going to be sending out a lot of resumes here in the coming days, send me juju that I can find something I am happy doing, and I can work from home. I live in the middle of nowhere, so unless I want to commute over an hour each way to Harrisburg, or 2+ hours to DC every day wfh is my only real option (takin a huge paycut is NOT an option and that's what will happen if I try to find something locally).

Crazy response to a request!  What a paranoid response.  You probably would not enjoy being with them if they are all like that!  And what a crud for work to want you to be always available, but won't give you any flexibility in your schedule.  Seems like most any organization gets so dictatorial.

You will do great at your presentation.  And if they are smart enough to hire you, then you will do great at the job!  Hopefully they will do great for you.

Just got back from the Peachtree Road Race Expo.  Picked up our packets.  Got some Veronica's Health Crunch.  If you ever get a chance to try it, it is very yummy.  It is one of the reasons I went to the expo instead of having them mail me my packet.  Also picked up some Good On Ya skin cream.  Again we were introduced to it last year and wanted to get the expo price (1/2 off) rather than pay full price and shipping expenses,

I also picked up some headbands and a shirt.  The shirt says "Dead Last > Not Starting"  Woot, I like that.  and I also got a hand held water bottle holder so those times I need some water, but not a whole big bottle.  I don't like the ones that go on the belt, so I'll give this a try.

So, all in all, a good expo.

SCORE! FWIW, I have a love hate relationship with my hand held water bottle. It is great for a while, then I get tired of carying it. I have a buddy who loves hers. She carries it on all of her marathons.

I don't know if I would carry it on a race, but definitely when I am training on my own and don't have any loops back to the car where I can keep water.  It only holds 12 oz so it is not too big.  When I carry my camelback bottle, it holds 16 oz and I really hate it by the end of three miles.  Hoping this one will work out better, plus once it is empty, I could then clip it to my belt.

My SIL just went from 116 degrees in TX to California hoping to have cooler weather.  So, CA is having hotter temps than TX this week.  Oh, well.

I will show her this. She had breakfast in bed this morning. I'm only working until 10:00, then I'm going to go pick her and the boy up, and we're going out to lunch. She wants to go to Buffalo Wild Wings, and sit outside, so that's what we're doing.
