AbbieR - 2012-08-14 8:38 AM Did anyone else notice that they will be selling straps for timing chips?  I ave my own but for the race entry fee they should at least give you one to use for the day!  Not to mention the nightmare this is for the volunteers to remove every chip from the straps as people finish...it takes some time.

#1280 for me

Was this information on the athletes guide?   I better read it soon.  The straps are probably going to be way overpriced

Whoa, this got very real all of a sudden with the bib #'s coming out, checkin' in #622!

A strange mix of nervousness and excitment going on right now. Will be my first IM. Lots of friends and family coming up to watch, which is awesome but does add a bit of stress.

Good luck to everyone.

Dave

It was in the PS part of the email that was sent yesterday, I have not read the athlete guide yet, but my teammate told me it clearly states that "crawling is allowed"

I had to buy one last year. I believ they were $5. Alot of people were stunned that we had to pay $5 for it. I will be bringing mine from last year.

Anyone know of a good pool in Penticton for a prep swim?  I like the quiet of the pool race week. Super excited for this race! It's going to be so much fun.

Looks like itcould even be cooler than that now. That would be ideal. No rain, no wind and cool.

Not trying to get tooooooo excited, but I've checked 4 sources now and they have 74, 63, 77, and 75 as highs on Sunday.

Either way, it's looking to be VERY favorable conditions for a fast race!  Woo!

Hope everyone had  great day.  I felt like we lucked out with great conditions and an awesome atmosphere.

Best of luck to everyone on their next adventure.  I'm planning on some shorter stuff in an effort to qualify for Natonals next year with a late season half.

Next IM in 2014--either Tahoe or Wisco.

Registration for the 2013 IRONMAN Canada will open today (10/18/2012) at noon (PDT). I'm really really really debating signing up for this.  I've got a doctors appt so I will be sitting in a waiting room when registration opens.  Not sure if I could register on my iPhone

I don't believe IMC has sold out on the opening day of registration in about 3 years or so.  I had been keeping an eye on it in the past.

I think the split with Penticton will also impact the numbers. You've not got 2 quality races in the region in the later half of the summer. While it won't qualify you for Kona, I'm pretty positive that plenty of people will race the old race because it is an amazing place for an IM. I'm really torn right now if I want to do my first IM in '13 or '14. I'm a little concerned with my feet for '13 as they barely held up for this past year's schedule 4 half marathons (2 of which were at HIM Boise (shortened bike) and HIM Lake Stevens). If I do Canada this year I will probably won't do any other races to conserve my feet as much as possible.
