Subject: RE: Revolution3 Triathlon - Quassy 70.3 : Official Thread davetri1 - 2011-06-06 2:42 PM Yea I have to aggree this course is a beast. This run was by far the hardest one I have ever done. The last hill at mile 12 is just crazy.. I had a great race 5:24 That last hill was so damn hard. Midway up that hill I could see a house on my right, and I heard people ( i think kids) talking and playing. But I was in so much pain I couldn't even look over. I was just mummbling jibberish to myself at that point to try and keep moving forward. |

This is EXACTLY how I felt. Running is my strength and it was still a kick in the face. I hit my goals as well, absolutely loved the course. |

Oh wait, I'm busy on the 18th -- I have an appointment to get my finger nails pulled off with a rusty pair of pliers that day. |

Member 38 Park Slope, Brooklyn | Subject: RE: Revolution3 Triathlon - Quassy 70.3 : Official Thread I LOVED Rev3 Quassy. My goal was to go hard and I did, HUGE PR and I felt great afterwards. Also, and perhaps even better, it was my wife's first Half and she did it, beating her goals too! The hills were tough but I guess my training paid off because I felt they were very reasonable (pulled a 5:26). I thought the run was fine. The hills were hard but I just kept telling myself "I ran up Heartbreak Hill, I'm NOT walking for these bumps) and I kept form and kept it strong with a 1:40 run with enough in the tank to later run it in with my wife, and no soreness the next day. And about the soreness, those leg compressor machines they had at the end were better than ANY massage I've ever had. If they weren't $1,200 or whatever the price tag was, I'd buy one in a second. I feel like I didn't even race!! Maybe I just needed to go harder! Edited by mendeldave 2011-06-07 4:19 PM |

who's in?? Hi Rude Boy. Hmmm... perhaps we should start a new 2012 thread. You're in for the half, Rudy? The more I recall the two times I raced this course, the more I realize just how brutal it is. Harryman is tough, but Quassy edges it out slightly. A few of my local tri friends have remarked that Mooseman is tough, but Moose and Quassy bikes are comparable; but the Quassy run is definitely tougher. I haven't done Savageman but with 6700 feet of climbing on the bike, as opposed to Quassy's 4200 feet - and SavageMan's famed WesternPort Wall Climb with a 12% grade ; I'm going to guess SavageMan is likely tougher. So other than SavageMan, I have not heard of or done a tougher 70.3 on the East Coast. I watched some of the Pro Triathlete post-interviews after Quassy and many of them (Lovato, Bozzone) said it was the toughest half Iron they'd ever done, trumping even WildFlower. Having said all that, I will be doing Quassy half for the 3rd time this year. I am likely going to do the Harryman half 15 days earlier (although I will be at a training; not racing pace for Harryman) and I may set my sights on SavageMan in September. |

Subject: RE: Revolution3 Triathlon - Quassy 70.3 : Official Thread Rudy, I am definitely getting up there for a pre-Race ride. I'll let you know when. Most likely late April, early May. My plan is to ride the full course, and then do an abbreviated transition run - running about 10k of the run course. |

Subject: RE: Revolution3 Triathlon - Quassy 70.3 : Official Thread Will do. I'll be going up with a group in mid-April. And then I'll probably look to do the course again if the kind folks at Target Training (a local triathlon club) offer the pre-ride. They usually do it two weeks before the event. |

Yes they will, i have already inquired about it as i will be doing some training with them this year. Bobby, keep me posted, Jeff Sklarz and I plan on doing some recon on the bike and run course a number of times, would like to meet up with you and catch up!! Also, i had PM'd Marmadaddy about starting a new thread for 2012, he said that he had re-set the training group link for that purpose, but for the life of me i cannot figure out where it is to start a new one, if anyone else wants to look around, please do, as i am not the most interweb savy person in the world, lol.

Thanks Rude Dawg. Yeah, I'm not the most internet savvy either, but will look around. We need to start a new thread so we can let people know EXACTLT what to expect from this beast of a course. |
