There's a lot of red out there, but was that the Canadians pulling the chase pack? Whitfield's a strong runner, you gotta wonder how motivated they are to pull back the three in front.

One of them was from "Lux", not sure about the other.

Also - not sure how easy it would be to negotiate gold, silver, and bronze using different languages!

MelissaE - 2008-08-19 1:03 PM That lead group of 3 really seems to be working together. Wonder if they're negotiating right now who will get the gold, silver and bronze?

Might be a bit early for that

Yeah...there are some crazy fast runners behind them, and if they killed their legs on the pull-out...too soon...

the escape away currently only have 35 sec lead. the best runners like Gonez can run like 2+ min faster than any of them so the better keep on hammering the bike and build up that lead or get ready for a LOOOOONG lonely run

They are definitely communicating.  I've seen hand gestures.  Maybe they all speak English as well?

Well the Belgian and the Luxembourg racer might both speak some German or French as both languages are used in parts of their home countries... but not sure about the Mexican...

I would have to think perhaps a little English!

Likely that the two Euros have at least one language in common, but also pretty likely that they all speak at least enough English to make themselves understood.

I guess you'd just have to point and then show a number of fingers in order to communicate place.

True dat. But America is the only place where people are stupid and don't speak several languages, so between the 3, they all must know something that the other one knows.

Belgium and Luxembourg are right next to each other...they will be able to speak the same language, probably some Dutch...often the area is referred to as the "Benelux" area for Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.

Too much talking about talking that doesn't need to happen. They just need to work together, simple hand signs can take care of that.

As usual, it will come down to the run.  While watching the women's race last night and now watching the men tonight, it seems like the best strategy is just to draft like crazy on the swim & bike, letting your competitors do all the work, and then get 'em on the run.
