The wind on my ride home tonight seriously sucked.

Any freaking time Spring wants to show up, I'll be waiting.

On a positive note, I am not wearing my snowboard helmet and ski goggles anymore on my ride to work!!!

And the run around the lakes last Saturday was really nice and sunny. I guess it isn't ALL bad......

Fun!!!  Looking forward to soon having regular normal spring-like weather and getting out on the bike regularly.

Just really, really, really, really, glad to not having the bad blizzardy stuff in the Cities that the folks in Northern MN and surrounding areas are getting.  I'll take 40s and windy

This stuff is depressing.  But at least I can knock wood and hope it won't stick.  I am counting the days to getting the bike off the trainer.

I found it a bit sticky and warm on Saturday, while having dinner.  But I sure am back to reality in the past few days!

Here's my gloating picture for you all...  Kelly (Lumpy), me and Bryan (Mndiver) at the best restaurant on Bonaire:

Despite the fact there is a wine glass and a bottle of beer in front of me that is not the reason my eyes were closed.  I'm pretty sure I wasn't THAT droonk.

Yeah, so get those bikes off the trainers folks.  On Saturday I wore a hat under my helmet and a few layers all over for my bike ride.  Last night it was shorts, a long-sleeved but summer-weight top and my tri-shoes without socks.  And I was warm!  Awesome.

I was able to hit the road saturday as well! I was flying on the new bike, thinking about how much better my bike was. After awhile I decided to turn around and come home and SURPRISE I had a big ole head wind. BOOO! I wasn't ready for that. Quick bike ride turned into an hour twenty and my rear hurt after 40 mins. Not good for the up and coming 60 mile variant of the Iron Man ride.

I had the same experience and am also planning on the 65 miler at Ironman next weekend.    Upon reflection I realize two things:

1.  I've never had a ride around here where I wasn't slapped with a headwind at least 50% of the time.  If there's a way to avoid it, please seriously, let me know!  Usually it switches.  Or blows me sideways, whatever.  It's a mess when you attempt to bike on a corridor like the Greenway especially.

2.  Ironman is always windy.  I have to just accept it.

Good luck!

x 100

It's always windy here in the spring and you can most certainly count on a windy Ironman bike ride.
