So ...I am sitting here at my desk wasting time...and I am trying to find races for the DH and I to do together...the problem is he can run much farther (we won't even get in to how much faster) than I can...Well actually right now I can run farther but that is because I have been training all winter on the Dreadmill and he won't go near one (but he also won't run outside in the cold/snow...I know I know don't get me started)...but once he gets training he will be able to go much farther than I can.
Why can't you go farther you ask...well its not that I can't I just probably shouldn't. My PT told me that "running probably wasn't a good hobby for me" when I developped PF this fall. He says that my arch is to high, and my hip and knee angles are wrong for running...
So to finally get to my question (took me long enough I know)... There are lots of races in Chicago that have 2 distances (5K/10K, 5K/1/2mary, 5K/15K) but I feel like a cheater if I do the shorter race....should I? Or should I just get over it and realize that most people can't even run a 5K?
You and I are so alike!
I have had chronic PF for YEARS. I tore the left one in October and was on crutches for a bit.
*NOTHING* has helped until I recently started doing the trigger point therapy.
(You can do yourself, buy the system, use a foam roller, get massage, whatever
). I had custom orthotics, multiple shoe brands and types, three podiatrists, two physical therapists - the works, did daily stretches, yada yada yada. Always came back.
Get yourself into some trigger point therapy. I would BET that if you press deep into your calf, about 5 inches under your knee, you'll find one killer of a sore spot in the calf
(the tibialis?
). But it likely only hurts if you press on it really hard.
PM me if you want more info.
