adrene1976 - 2009-07-14 12:13 AM Hi - is it too late to join?  I am 32 yrs old - training for my first tri in October.  I am 5'3, 133 lbs and trying to lose the last of the baby weight from having twins last October.  I would like to lose 5 or so more pounds, but am much more interested in losing body fat.  What do I need to do?

Elizabeth

You can start by creating a food log from the things you eat every day. Then subtract 300 kcal from that. Keep it for couple weeks before you change it.

Training on caloric deficit diet can be difficult, but your body will adapt to the situation. It will use the reserved fat to fuel up.. but do not go anywhere below 1000 kcal from your daily needs, YOU WILL LOSE MUSCLE!!

Happy Birthday...  Now get off your arse and HTFU!  Move it. Go Now, stop looking at the BT forums and do some situps and pullups.

Doing ok on food today.  Light day for training (racing this weekend) and it's hot outside, kinda killls the desire for food.  I really need to focus on hydration...LOTS OF WATER!

weight is the same, training has taken a hit, and after talking with a few friends and one of my Dr's i've decided to start the training back up, building back to full time over the next two weeks or so and see whats happens with my knee. if it stays the same, doesnt get worse, or gets better i'll train through my last big A race in sep and then take a month or so off and see what needs to be done, if it gets worse, off season healing starts now, so either way i cant really be any further behind than i am now.

Its to the point where taking more time off is going to be a season ender right there.

we'll see!

good job so far everyone!

otongki - 2009-07-01 12:28 PM This is great! If you need help, please check out my log.. it's a bodybuilding/triathlon style training journal. I can set you training routine and nutrition plan too!!

Great to see you in here!  Otongki is a great source for knowledge and if you need it, inspiration.

Just found this thread.  I'm on a similar board with otongki, and can help you with your questions and such.  While he is focusing more on bodybuilding currently, I just switched to a circuit-style method.

I won't be in this thread too often, but I update my logs (found in my signature) daily.  Please check in. Thanks.

log everything you eat.. EVERYTHING

I even include the butter I add on my veggies, and the creamer to my coffee.  (Although when I'm losing I usually just drink my coffee black)

Don't forget gatorade, or other during workout energy food/drink.

(also it might be faux pas here, but you should eat relatively high protein to preserve muscle while dieting, maybe not the 1g/lb that a man would need, but close to it.  More than the 30% of total calories recommended for most endurance athletes since that recommendation is based on a high calorie total of someone maintaining, plus muscle is easy to maintain on a neutral calorie balance)

I completed my second marathon over the weekend. Nutrition was OK considering I allowed myself some leeway for it being a race weekend.

I log all of my training on BT, but log my nutrition on Livestrong.

I've been following along but not posting a whole lot.  I realized soon after we got started that most of you are truely trying to "Get Ripped".  Who'd of thought from the title of the thread Tongue out
I'm just trying to break out of the clydedale division.

Anyway, going well so far and today I'm comfortably back into my 34" waist pants.  Been a while since these were comfortable.

Hey hey, so this past week I've done better controlling food intake.  But man, that makes me hungry!  I don't think my BF has changed yet, pictures haven't, not that I expected a change after 1 week.  But I plan to buckle down this week.

I set up a daily calisthenics routine if anyone wants a copy, maybe when I get to my compy I'll just post it here.  It was based from a Navy SEALs routine.  It'll kick your butt, it's good.

I'm going out of town for more zumba training this weekend, so I won't be logging, checking BF or taking any more pictures.

But I'm doing 2 days of zumba certification. The first certification, I wore my HRM - we danced for 4-ish hours - I burned 2300 calories in one day.  This time I'm doing two days in a row.

It's gonna be brutal :-p

Is it too late to join in?

I just saw a picture my sister took of me last week and I have some love handles developing .  5'10" - 185 or so - scale says 12.5% bf and I will go with that because I know if it goes lower then I am going in the right direction.  Would like to hit 175 or so by end of summer & >10% BF.

ETA: I added stuff to spreadsheet figuring you would let this late guy join in - just want the motivation no prizes + Abbie will vouch for me and my coolness Right Abbie???

Of course I will!  Although we may need to do something about the farmer-tan.....you know how I feel about tan-lines!

Much better on nutrition today, going back to my "caveman" way of eating, other than the window immediately before and after training.  In that window I allow myself some processed stuff.  I had a GU pre-swim and a small corn-muffin post swim along with some white meat chicken.

It is a male cyclist tan - you are right it is pretty ugly but that is what happens when you live in Western New York and not California!!

Hitting Tampa next week so maybe I can darken up down there a little!

Ohhh....do you need to borrow a WW for your trip?
