I haven't decided on the HHH yet - I'm in Omaha and not sure how many trips I can afford!!

Is anyone planning on the following Free Training Weekend?

http://www.breakthroughmultisport.com/Training_Camps.html

I've definitely got this one planned!  May 28-30 FYI.

I'm starting some prep phase work (using Going Long to write a plan) on Jan 4th.  I guess I better get to writing it this weekend   Anyone else using the book to develop a plan?

I'm reading the book, but am not sure if I'm going to use it to formulate a plan or not.  I am eying February as an official start date though.

I've got a couple extra months of prep work at the front - but am excited to have a plan :P

What other plan(s) are you looking at?

What's free about it?

Yeah, I'm also not sure how many trips I can afford, but it would be nice to get on the course at least once.

Thanks for the heads up on the training weekend. I had no idea.  Anyone worked with these guys before, there must be a catch. Sounds too good to be true although the lake will be freezing even at the end of May.

Thanks for the heads-up on the training weekend mentioned above. I'm trying to figure out the best time to make a trip to Madtown for a meet-the-course training weekend, and that sounds like an intriguing possibility. I'm a bit confused by the fact that it's free though. Also, does anyone know how closely the Horribly Hilly Hundred follows the IM course? Or is it just similar terrain? Thanks for any input.

I'm using the BT 20 week winter maintenance program (7-10 hrs/week). I calculated that the last week of April will be 20 weeks out - will start one of the BT IM programs at that point. I had asked on another thread if, due to my cycling weakness, I should be extending my long rides to 2+ hours. It seems like many of the IM distance folks are working on power/LT type rides rather than long/slow work at this point.

Seems like much of D3's plans are based on Friel's work. I do like Going Long - detailed, but easy to understand.

My wife and are folloiwng Jorge's off season bike program to increase power/LT but we're also throwing in a long bike session on Sunday's - usually around 1.5 to 2 hours.

I know a lot folks do the HHH but it doesn't work for my schedule so I'm looking at doing the Insaine Terrain - http://www.vikingbikingclub.com/index.htm,which is on July 10th. It's in the same area as HHH and put on by the same folks.

Hey, has anyone done the Wisconsin Triterium before?  This year it is on June 20 th.  That Oly lines up real close to what my training day should be on that day.  I am looking at the Hilly Hundreds, but it I'm supposed to do a brick on that Saturday.

My plan is to do a couple oly's and a HIM and other than that stick to my plan.

Your feedback is appreciated as always!

I did it last year.  Overall it is a great race and very well run.  The swim is a little quirky...three loops of the quarry. You get out of the water and run around a tree before getting back in.  The real kick is the bike which is very hilly (Observatory drive is a killer!) and the run is three loops with a series of hills. Definitely the hardest Oly I did last year, but I would definitely recommend it.

Less then 35 weeks out! Still a ways away but those weeks are starting to fall of the calender. How is everyone's winter training going? Anyone in specific training or are we all still building our base in our prep phase? Injuries? I am about maybe 4 weeks away from being able to swim and run again. Biking on the trainer more then I had expected right now, but hopefully that will pay dividends come race day! Just remember spring is on its way.

Feeling pretty well here.  Avoided too much of a holiday setback and now plan to spend the rest of the winter doing ~hard swim/bike workouts and as much easy running as I can handle.  My primary goal is to stay healthy and avoid an injury setback.  No whammies this year!

I'm still in "off season" until March 15th.  I am swimming, biking(very little), running and weight training along with foam roller work, yoga, etc.  I am trying to maintain fitness and improve strength and flexibility.  I have also put on about 5-6 lbs which is good for me.  The weight comes off easy once I get into formal training and if I start lean, I think I get a little too lean.

Looking forward to doing the Triterium and coming up to ride the course this summer with some of you guys!

Just an FYI.  Horribly Hilly Hundreds registration is this Friday at 5pm CST.   It will sell out in minutes most likely.  I'm planning on trying to get in and can cart a few people up from Chicago the night before (I live in Lakeview area, about 2 blocks from Wrigley Field).

It will be a great training ride, if you are in to torture. Still undecided on 100k vs. 200k need to talk to my coach about it.

Well, I'm finally getting the weight loss thing under control.  Down -8.4lbs in three weeks.  Only -84lbs left till September.  My base training is paying off.

Glad I'm not the only one trying to lose and train at the same time. I need to lose an additional 35-40 or so in addition to the huge amount I've already lost. I was hoping to start my training plan a little closer to my goal, but it's been a slow couple of months. My official training starts on Feb 2nd.

Congrats on the progress so far!

I'm doing st. croix as well so its going to be a long year for me! (what was I thinking lol...)  I'm in my second week of a 6 week base phase and the aches and pains are starting to go away.  Already lost a few pounds but have another 6-8 to go!  happy pre-season everyone!

New to the BT site, and this will be my first IM. Looking forward to it! I was a volunteer last year out at the cross plains aid station and had a blast. Watching everyone come through there is what motivated me to sign up for this year. I'm going to attempt to sign up for the HHH today at 5pm. It's a killer.

Welcome!  I also volunteered last year, though I was in change tent, bike check-in and gear bags so we probably didn't cross paths.

Good luck with your training!

I spent 6 hours on the run course on Library Mall on State Street.  It was a ton of fun becuase you see runners coming and going.  It is crazy busy, but has great energy.

I did T2 and finish line and loved them both. I recommend the transition area just because you get a really good feel for the organizational side of things - where to go, how things work, etc.

x2 on a transition slot. I've been in women's T2 for the last two years and learned SO MUCH about IM transitions just by observing what goes on in there. You'll see every kind of possible emotion, and have the opportunity to inspire and encourage on a more personal level than you would if you were doing something like manning a water station. Plus it's in an actual building and air conditioned
