Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Nah is all good. I didn't look back far enough. I am off the couch since 9/07 with no background in anything prior. My first HIM in 105 temps was 6:48 ish with a HIM in the rain this year at 5:45 ish and a first IM af 12:16. It is a lot smarter to build up speed and then go long, but.... I like going long. All the races are so far away I feel like why bother to drive 8 hours for sprint or an Oly. Might as well spend the whole day racing if it took you a whole day to drive there 8). Most of the closer races are 350 miles away. |

Icebath brrrrrr. 33 miles for the month, off to a good start 8). Lord I could have used one of those yesterday! I am such a chicken! I have done it in the past and found it so uncomfortable. It was hard to tell if it worked, but then again I haven't really given it the chance. I have been told by some folks that even cold water is better than nothing. I probably don't need two full bags. What is your method, a lot of ice, a little?
We had a tri coach that sent us into the sea after a running a workout at the beach . I use an unheated pool besides my place and swim 10 mins .
There is a lake I run at sometimes that has a 10k loop. After long runs I sometimes jsut take off my shoes and walk into it. Works pretty well! |

You want me to spend $100 on a race that takes a little over an hour. Edited by Global 2009-11-05 3:20 PM |

Veteran 294 Germantown, WI | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Only did 6 miles...was planning 8, but realized I was going to be late for my lunch date with my wife if I went with 8. Pushed harder than usual just to make sure I could still go under 9min/mile. Pulled 8:44 avg for 6 miles so I am happy with that. Looking forward to hilly 10 miler on Saturday with my wife and then we give blood at 11am. |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Nice job Rob! It's all about priorities. Definately cut the run short rather than keep the wife waiting. What kind of pace will you run on that 10 miles this Saturday? |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Well nothing for the spreadsheet today. Went on a ride that started well and went sideways from there. Rode to the top of a local summit (4,000ft ascent), started to rain on me, and then my GPS died. Funny how dependant I have become on stupid little, electronic devices. Not to mention, 30 mph + downhill speeds on a mountain bike in the rain, not so fun! |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Good morning. Long run today. Treated myself to a new pair of street shoes yesterday, so I plan on taking the run to the pavement. |

But glad to hear you made it home safe and sound. I hate that weather can sometimes derail perfectly good training plans! I am also very dependent on my garmin. I love the data!! I love it. |

Definately cut the run short rather than keep the wife waiting. What kind of pace will you run on that 10 miles this Saturday? Probably 9:30 to 9:45. When I go 12-15, I stay around 9:45 to 10:00. I learned not to push every single run and know that the mileage itself and the shorter tempo/speed/hill work makes me faster as well. |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Decided to push the long run today. I wanted to see where I was at terms of speed over duration. Targeted 7:30 minute splits which ended up being about 85%-90% PPE. All splits under time except for one. Cardio wise, felt really good. Legs-hips started to tire a little toward the end. Planning on throwing in a 1/2 mary after the first of the year to see how I hold up. Starting to feel more confident about the full marathon in April. Long ways to go though. |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Question about cadence. How many of you have used candence sensors in their shoe? Wondering how beneficial the device would be? I have read that the ideal cadence is around 80-90 foot strikes per minute. However, I have no idea where I'm at right now. With cycling, I used one for a while until I could naturally feel where my cadence should be in terms of comfort and rpm. Opinions? |

Veteran 294 Germantown, WI | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge My foam roller routine and elasticity routines help me feel great. Why then do I decide to sit and watch TV at night instead? It's almost as if I am a masochist and like the pain. Not anymore, I say for the billionth time! Thanks to this challenge and the desire to not let the team down, I will be doing them at least four times a week along with my strength training. |

I gotta admit it, I have been very consistent this week. Assurdedly due to the challenge, as well. A number of times I was going to blow it off, but didn't.Agree with you completely, BE6 |
