Winery  ?   Did someone mention winery

Jack: Man! That's tasty!
Miles Raymond: That's 100% pinot noir. Single vineyard. They don't even make it any more.
Jack: Pinot noir?
Miles Raymond: Mmm-hmm.
Jack: Then how come it's white?
Miles Raymond: [laughs] Oh, Jesus. Don't ask questions like that up in wine country. They'll think you're some kind of dumbs**t, OK?

Yummmmmmmmm!!

I'm not usually a fan of California Pinot Noir, but I gotta say, i do ADORE "Meomi", a Caymus winery product.

MMMMM, as a matter of fact I plan to pick up a case this week, so I always ha a few on hand!

Could that be a goal? 4 bottles of Meomi for Jan? To share with my darling wife of course.

What site am I on again *slightly confused*

Rest Day for me.

Back to work & assumed I would have a lot of problems to troubleshoot.

Also, legs are tired from my 20k run yesterday. At about 9k, there was a 4k hill. Did not realize until last night, how sore my legs were going to be.

Anyway, hopefully back at tomorrow.

Jeeez, all this wine talk has me thirsty.  I prefer a nice California Zinfindel.  We  have a local winery here in the Livermore Valley, Micheal Katz, that grows a very nice Zin.

I also have a local winery you may have heard of Galleano Winery.  Don make a rather great Zin as well.

I also got to the gym today and swam 300m felt good to get back into the routine again.

I haven't heard of them, but next time I down there I will stop.

It looks like you live near my in-laws then.  Are you going to do any of the tris at Lake Perris this year?  There will be an Olympic distance tri on April 17th.  Saw Productions is the event organizer.  I did their off-road tri in November at Vail Lake.  Event was pretty well ran and organized.

Okay, I'm really not a wine person. I like Asti Spumante and White Merlot. Suggestions to help broaden my horizon (without breaking my budget?) I usually think wines taste too strong and sharp.

The key, for me, is not to have that food around.  Because if it is there, I will eat it.  I have no willpower!  If my wife brings that crap home, I immediately throw it in the trash.  I'm getting better though.  I would rather have a little piece of organic, dark chocolate rather than baked goods.  Well, unless its cheesecake, then all bets are off.

Damn, this thread is more like food network than bt!

My wife doesn't like bold, red wine either.  However, she is found of this one zin, Ravenswood Vitners Blend, and its cheap enough to have with dinner on a regular occassion.  I don't know about availablity back East, but can usually be found in grocery stores or BevMo for under $10 a bottle.  It is very mild, has a slight peppery taste, and very light on tanins.

OK, now training.  I got out on the mountain bike today.  I finally sucked it up and did my 30 minute threshold test at the beginning of the ride.  OUCH!  I'm not looking forward to doing this again for verification.  Trails were still a little to muddy though and torn up by the cattle.  Nevertheless, it always rejuvenates me when I can ride my mountain bike.

I'm really hoping to get a run in tomorrow.

Don't worry, there aren't any left. How do I know? Um, well, I kinda finished off the rest of the package tonight....

So yeah, I'm in the Epic Fail category with you. (They were really good though.)

I think I might even have that Ravenswood downstairs on the rack... or I've had it recently. Both me and my husband are big fans of most dry reds. I try not to discriminate! Being from NYS, we run across a lot of finger lakes wines. But I think my favs are the Oregon Pinot Noirs.

OK, I have to get my mind out of the wine cellar! I SO did not feel like riding tonight but got a 15 mile ride in. I just wasn't feeling the love from the drainer tonight so it was slow. But better than nothing, I hope? Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

http://www.winewebcentral.com/winepairing/

you could try the above site.  I used it while taking my wine of the world class last fall to help with our menu we had to make.  I got full points on it.  As for wine you may want to try a new world merlot (from US, South America, Austrilla)  these tend to have more of a fruity taste as they enter the mouth, and you wont really get the tannins in merlot ( but that is where all the health benefit from in whine it the tannins.)  you could try White Zin but that is an oxymoron to me, Zin is red and should only be made that way.

If you can find a local store that does wine tasting it is the best way to try the wines.  By me there is a BevMo and they charge like 3 bucks to try usually 6-8 wines every sat evening.  At 50 cents a taste you got nothing to  loose, at the least you will know 6 wines not too buy.  There is also a place called Total Wine and they charge 10 cents a person, yes thats $0.10, to try their wines usually about 10 wines to try.

I am not too sure if I will compete then.  I will be in the prep stages for my senior project final presentation( means graduate or wait till the following fall).  At the very least I will go check it out its only like 30-45 min away from me.

I think you're being too conservative.  If you buy the case, you should try to drink it all in January Wink

I stick with the heavier reds - Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Camenere, Merlot and usually buy Chilean, Australian, South African.  Unfortunately, the US wines tend to be overpriced here in Japan.

Hi all!  I'm new to the challenge section, so I just found out about the monthly challenges and got assigned to this team!  I just added my goals to the team spreadsheet... Is there anything else I need to know about how this all works?

That's about it.  meet your goals.  report back into the thread, so we can help you if necessary.  Also, you might be able to inspire someone else, if needed.

Morning team.

Welcome Yogachick!

Still plugging away. didn't feel like strength this morning ... well, just not like getting dressed to go to the gym. so i did an old pilates video that focuses on core.  Even though it's a great routine I don't think i'll count it toward my strength goal - at least not right now.
