Today I bike commuted... I was planning on swimming in the lake, then lifting after work today, but I got hit by a cabbie on the way here and am now sporting some lovely fresh road rash on my leg. I think the swim is out until it scabs over, but I think I should be ok to lift (it kind of hurts, but more from the cuts and probably forming bruises, not like anything's broken or anything). **** Hit by a car 900th post toppage!! **** Not fun! Hopefully the cabbie stopped. Sounds like you're ok (thank goodness). Did the bike survive OK? Hopefully you got all the insurance, etc in case you find something wrong later on. Congrats on post 900. Luckily it was very low speed, so the bike was totally fine. My leg is mostly fine... err, at least it looks better than it did yesterday! Now it just looks like a bunch of little scrapes with some bruising. I'm walking with a little limp, and it just feels like it's "sore", but besides that I feel ok. As for insurance, the cabbie definitely did the thing where he stopped, saw I was laying on the ground, and then drove away as fast as he could. He didn't even come out of his stupid cab to make sure I was ok! Should have figured as much, since the reason for the accident was that he wasn't paying attention to the road because he was busy honking at a possible fare. Urgh! I had a run planned today, but I think I'll skip that in favor of a pool swim. Hopefully my leg is better before Saturday since I have to run 15 miles that day Wow.... I don't suppose you were able to get the license plate? Scary stuff. Glad you're pretty much OK except for some scrapes and bruises. |

Unfortunately its only a fickle green star, here today, gone tomorrow. I'm a long way from one of those elusive yellow stars that stick with you no matter what happens. Some day I'll get a yellow star. Hmm, I wonder if I should speed up or slow down my posting? Because then I'll accumulate more green stars, but after 97 more posts I'll lose ALL my stars and only have one red star... Eh, the yellow stars are boring. Now, if they were REAL GOLD, that might be more interesting. |

Did the Howl at the moon ultra - you can read about it - if you are so inclined in my training blog. Should catch me up a bit for the monthly goals. I don't know - are you supposed to taper it back up? oh well - I can't run right now anyway - have blisters bigger than half dollars on each foot. Any tried and true methods for getting rid of those? |

If they are too painful to walk, I usually drain them, put on a bunch of Neosporin, and cover them with bandaids. It seems to get rid of them the fastest and I'm able to walk again. |

It's weird, I don't actually do anything with my blisters, and I've been getting them almost every run. I think I have so many blisters, they just form on top of each other and become callouses. |

These things prevented me from walking anywhere close to normal. My wife popped them for me - and she said more than a teaspoon of fluid came out of each foot. Strange how yesterday at 3 (or really, anytime after 11:00) if you would have asked me - doing this again and I would have said hell no. But - other than the blisters, I feel pretty darn good. No lactic problem at all - which is weird considering what I went through on the half marathon I did. Hope to be running again by Tues or Wed. Might do some biking tomorrow. Kids first day of school, so we'll see. |
