Extreme Veteran 573 Sherman Oaks, CA | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge I have one thing to say: Core Synergistics. OUCH! Tough stuff! You definitely have to watch what they are doing, wait for them to show a modified version that you can perhaps try or just do far fewer reps than those monsters on your tv screen, rewind and then join in the fun. Yes, my lower back is a weakling and I feel it. It's good though! Kenpo is today. Or a run. I haven't decided. |

Do we want to post our starting measurements so we can monitor progress? I'll confess, I am not a fan of YogaX. What do you not like about YogaX? |

Master 1531 TORONTO | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Hey everyone - Thanksgiving Monday here and before I eat the big bird... I figured there was no time like the present to stop procrastinating and start P90X. Although I just put everything away and realized I was also supposed to do the Ab Ripper X for day 1. I'll do tomorrow instead of plyometrics. I'm not sure what I think. I did the Chest & Arms. I underestimated my strength and should have bought tougher bands. I didn't feel like I was getting a good resistance going and half way through switched to a set of dumb bells we had which were a bit too heavy. The bands aren't the easiest things to use. I need to figure out the pull up exercises because the space I'm using doesn't really allow me to post a poll anywhere. I did all the pushups from my knees averaging sets of 20. Couldn't do the decline push-ups and only did about 6-10 diamond ones. I felt so bloody stiff and inflexible trying the diver-bomber ones! I think I'll either buy some dumb bells or just do the exercises at the gym vs. watching the video! The "Hey girlfriend" was getting REALLY annoying. There's no way I burned 600 calories and I suspect my form SUCKED! Hope everyone else is doing well with it! |

Extreme Veteran 573 Sherman Oaks, CA | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Nice going! at least you did it! The ab ripper program is like 15 min. i would skip it and do plyo tomorrow which is a sweaty workout! re the bands, a couple of things. 1. you can make the resistance harder by shortening the amount of band you are stretching - create a loop and step on it to make it shorter and harder. to use the bands instead of a pull up bar, if you can take one handle off, you can thread it over and under the hinge on a door and use it that way. i've tried that and frankly, the bands for the "pull ups" are SO much easier - the pull ups are quite the struggle. i do them w a chair all the time. still hard. i sometimes think i'd be better served using the bands. i did pushups all on my knees to start as well - 20 is great!!! tony's little quips are def annoying. you love it, but you hate it... regardless stick with it you will see a difference in about 3 weeks. |

Master 1531 TORONTO | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge shrano - 2010-10-11 9:50 PM Nice going! at least you did it! The ab ripper program is like 15 min. i would skip it and do plyo tomorrow which is a sweaty workout! Went for a bike ride instead of the plyo. A little nervous to try anything TOO new until after my 1/2 mary. Oh my arms are feeling it today - especially gripping my handlebars while riding through rush hour traffic. Ouch! re: the bands - I ended up wrapping the one around a chimney stack pole we have and it was more like a seated row vs. pull down. I have to set up my area better because at one point I was dragging myself around on the carpet which was annoying! The space I'm working out in is a loft with no doors or door frames so - making do. I'll try ab ripper later today and then tomorrow is Shoulders & Arms. I just realized I'm doing the Classic vs. Lean... oh well. I'm thinking something is better than nothing! Thanks for the tips!! |

Bleah. all the pizza, bagels and italian food is catching up w me!!!! where is everyone else? Going no where fast I did my first session last Monday and felt tender the following day, couldn't sneeze properly for 4 days without pain (and no - I didn't get around to doing Ab Ripper X) and so decided to hold off until after my run this weekend. Will start after that. |

Extreme Veteran 573 Sherman Oaks, CA | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge OK kids, i'm back on the horse tonite. gonna start week 5 again which is alright cos i kind of sort of liked that workout - the chest, shoulders, triceps thing. not looking fwd to plyo again but i know it will help my running. seriously, the 90 days thing...i think it is going to take me 180 days to get thru 90! i got back from NY Tues evening and have been so tired, probably from the lack of exercise, pizza and bagels. gotta whip my arse back in shape as tri training season starts soon-ish. |

Master 1531 TORONTO | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Okay - finished the half mary, can now walk normally again and have no excuses. Question - Do you think you could do something like the Chest & Back at the gym and use the assisted pull up machine? - doing the pushups to the side between sets? Just curious - I have the worksheets printed off so I know what the exercises are. Still not sure if I'll follow the lean or classic so it'll either be Chest & Back or Core but I'll get it done! |

Expert 1279 Northern VA | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge New to this thread, but in week 5 of the program. So far (knock on wood) I havent missed a day. I've really enjoyed it - some tough workouts, but its keeping me motivated. I would think its fine to use the assisted pullup machine at your gym. They're doing assisted pullups with chairs in the video (so am I). I think the machine would give you a better workout than a chair. I think I end up "cheating" too much with the chair as I get tired. Good luck!
