Saturday afternoon was a Christmas party (morning spent cooking). I had planned a 9 mile run Sunday afternoon in the absolutely beautiful weather. But DH had a different outing planned for us. We went and selected our Christmas present... a puppy. Spent the afternoon up at the breeders having fun with the pups and the parents... so no run. Today is pouring buckets and we have to go back up to the breeders after work to finalize papers. We will get the puppy this weekend ... german shepherd. However, if all goes well, I will get my 9 miles in on Tuesday, rain or no rain! That still sounds like a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!!
Agreed! That is so cool. Does puppy have a name yet? |

Add to it the fact that today is my birthday and I've been going out for birthday dinners and eating cake and sweets all week. Going to really shoot for a run tonight, I feel like I'm starting all over from scratch! |

We don't pick up the puppy until this Saturday, but it looks like her name will be Hannah.
And I DID get my long run in yesterday that I missed on Sunday. I am very pleased and slightly shocked! I had planned 9.5 miles at 12:00 pace (I only jog, not run). This would have taken me about 1 hour 55 minutes. I wasn't running a pre-measured course, so I tried to run a comfortably slow pace for 2 hours. When I mapped it out, I had run over 11 miles! I checked it numerous times because I couldn't believe that I had gone that far that fast! This meant about 10:40 pace for my longest distance! Crazy! But wonderful !!!! And I am not really sore, just a little like any long jog. Whoo hoo!! |

Its tough when it drags out to a whole week of celebrating though. Don't give up. Get back out there and work out. You'll even start to enjoy the cooler weather after a while. |

December babies are the best but I'm not a fan of my December birthday. People tend to get caught up in Christmas and forget the birthday. At least that's how it was growing up. My wife does a pretty good job of remembering though. |

I'm not doing very well. I'm definitely being a fruitcake so far this month. This weekend threw me off and I've been having troubles getting out there again. Did some push ups and sit ups last night and that helped. I'm going to try for a lunchtime ride today. I hope I remembered everything. I don't want to get to the trailhead and find I left something home. I've done that before. I hope I can squeeze in a run tonight too. |

Was wanting to go for a bike ride at lunch but lost all motivation when I walked outside and it was COLD (relative term considering I live in the south). Brr... going to hit the treadmill tonight. Oh, and December birthdays are the best... but it bunches up all the gifts in one month. I envied my friends who had a birthday mid summer. |

Mine is the 15th and I've honestly never been that Birthday/Christmas gift person. My folks always made sure my brother (his is the 18th)and I had our birthdays far, far different from Xmas, but as we got older though and wanted bigger gifts sometimes we'd combine Christmas with birthday but we still got smaller gifts to open the day of. I also think Saggi's rule. We're by far the happiest sign. |

HAHAHA! Even better! YAY! One I won't forget. I have a lot of friends with December birthdays, lots of busy parents in Marchtime. lol
So I wasn't a fruitcake today, had a slow, peppermint mocha induced run. Whatever you do, wait till after the run before you drink it. Erp. Edited by Triathlynne 2010-12-08 3:02 PM |
