I'm doing Vineman 70.3 in 5 weeks - did an Oly yesterday. It's about time to start a real plan, methinks. I've got IM-LP on July 24th, then a couple of recovery weeks, the Annapolis 10-miler in late August, and maybe the ChesapeakeMan Aqua Velo in late September. Guessing October and early November will be my big build periods, which will be difficult here in Maryland as the days get shorter and the weather gets colder. |

My take based on IMSG last year: First time - definitley go! They'll get you excited about the event, show some video, you'll get misty eyed, good times. Food is "eh" - bland pasta and bread. Guests - if they're gung-ho, sure, but you have to pay like $25 for them to eat bland pasta and watch the video. This will be my second, I'll for sure go, but will likely send my wife and parents out to a real dinner. I suspect that by that time, they're so burned out on hearing about triathlon, the last thing they'll want to do is hang around a bunch of hyper stressed out participants. LOL. |

I'm doing an Oly next week and a 70.3 in 7 weeks. Just coming off of an injury (stress response in my foot 9 weeks ago) and just hoping to get through next weeks race without any hitches. |

Also, I assume that there is a cost to bring guests? Thanks! You can buy guest tickets. I skipped it in 2009 and just showed up late for the athlete meeting. I had more fun going to dinner with my husband and friends (and then just walked over for the meeting while they hit the bars). The food didn't look like anything special, though I know I missed out on some of the athlete introductions/video. |

Regular 83 Chesterfield, MO | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread OK, So I knew this was going to be difficult when I started but for the first time I'm starting to have a "little" doubt. I had a 3:30 ride on Sat followed by a 30 min run after. I rode 67 miles and my run was slow but steady. The last 30 minutes of the ride all I could think was how am I going to ride for another 2:30-3 hours?!?!?! This was my longest ride and I know I have a lot of time, but WOW, 112 miles is a long way. |

Well if you finish your bike at that pace and have a decent swim you have about 10 hours to do a marathon. See that is not so bad now is it ?

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you in Tempe later this year. How's the training going for everyone? Less than 5 months to go - things should be starting to pick up soon. Rather then feeling burned out and "oh crap, I have to do this all over again", I'm SUPER fired up and anxious to start hitting the training again. I can't wait until November!!! |

Extreme Veteran 605 Centennial, CO | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread The realization that I'm actually going to do this has started to hit me and I am fired up as well. Training is ramping up, but I can clearly see that I'm in great shape and it's only going to get better (mostly). Build phase 1 of my training starts in a couple of weeks and I'm ready to get going. How about everyone else? I know I'm still relatively new to this site, but I'm looking forward to meeting some folks from BT in AZ as well.

Extreme Veteran 610 San Francisco CA | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread Two weeks into my official IMAZ training and I crashed my bike on Saturday. Landed in the dirt on the side of the road so nothing broken and very little road rash, but I did strain my neck pretty good which has meant no S/B/R at all this week. Doc has me on muscle relaxers and my coach says not to worry but it's a bummer to have my momentum thrown off just as I was getting back in a groove. Be safe out there everyone! |

I know what you mean. This 4AM crap is getting old, and it's not even officially July yet! I keep reminding myself that I only have to endure these early mornings for a couple more months. I can make it, I can make it, I can make it...... |

So my actual training mileage was well below by planned training mileage due to occupational requirements. The good news - I was able to start my s/b/r training at the current schedule with no issues, so I am back on track. I started the Build Phase of the Ironfit program and so far, so good. The mileage is definitely starting to pick up in the near future!!! Finally - It's great to have TexasMPgal back after smoking IMCDA!!! |

Finished the 100 mile run this month.. Hardest thing I've ever done. It's been almost 3 weeks since and I'm still feeling it. Have just gotten back to the bike and swimming. Now, to get back to some proper IM training. So looking forward to a more balanced diet of biking and swimming. Congrats to the IMCDA finishers. Multiple IM's in a year is some major commitment.

I am still in recovery mode--which for me means I'm at my brother's wedding festivities (wedding is today) so I haven't done anything since IMCdA! Hahaha! But when I get back to San Diego, it's game on! Pumped to race with all of you--and also pretty pumped cause Team RWB (the non-prof racing team I'm part of) will have our largest presence at a tri yet when it comes to IMAZ. You guys will see a lot of the red, white, and blue eagle out on that course! |
