The treadmill rocks!!! Hey when you get to talking to yourself stage that means you are "close" to race shape. Till then there is much work to do. Besides Racine (my 2nd) I'll be doing Steelhead! Please tell me you loved it. (so I'll be also checking out the "other side" of the lake)

Master 1372 Tosa, WI | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread TriWisconsin just released a tenative date for a bike course recon ride of Sat July 2nd. They do a nice job of getting the groups adjusted by speed, have a little course support should something go wrong, and ensure that nobody gets dropped. Come join the team on the ride. More details to follow when we get closer to the date! I have been busy getting ready for REV3 in Knoxville in a couple of weeks, but then it will be time to switch the focus to the "A" race for the year! Racine is gonna be Fast this year with better weather! Right Amy??? |

Expert 1121 Menomonee Falls, WI | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread I tell ya what....I can't wait for this event! Definitely interested in getting out on a test ride & that TriWI recon ride sounds cool. My training is going well and I'm just wrapping up week 8 of 20 in my plan. I'm currently in a nice, lazy recovery week which feels pretty good. However, the weeks to come get pretty tough and I hope my aging body holds up ok. Time will tell. |

Veteran 283 Racine, WI | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread TriWisconsin - I saw them at the Multisport expo at the beginning of the year. I sent an email to them via the website and haven't heard back since. Could you maybe put me in contact with the right person over there? I'm am definitely in for the TriWI recon ride. Are there any plans for some swims along the course? |

Regular 84 | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread The "other side" of the lake isn't that bad! The water temp in Lake Michigan on the "east" side is usually so much warmer! Ran in snow here in Grand Rapids on Wednesday. I am convinced that the Grand Rapids Tri on June 5 will replace the swim portion with speed skating on the lake! Love to hear all of your training tips fellow Racine Racers! That was my first and only 1/2 Ironman. I did Steelhead as a relay last year and enjoyed that too! Not as pretty as Racine though! Storming here again this weekend, looks like more trainer rides! |

Regular 81 Marshfield | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread I hear you al,l as Racine has been on my mind quite a bit lately!!! Going to step things up and will be heading out to the Memphis in May amateur challenge. Thinking sprint to oly, back to back races should be pretty good prep for 70.3. Coaches encouragement also helps If only the weather up here in central Wisconsin would get better!

Member 38 Madison, WI | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread re: steelhead 70.3 -- i really enjoyed this race last year, particularly since i grew up in this area. they had just paved the bike route portion on blue star highway - smooth as it gets. climbing the benson road hill twice on the run loop got me a bit however. nice to see GR, MI has a HIM too - didn't realize this. i often hear that racine 70.3 is a similar to steelhead in terms of a 'flat' course - are there any rollers on the bike/run to speak of? i would be interested in getting some some training in on the course at some point. |

Master 1563 Chicago | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread My training has taken a bit of a "ding" to say the least in the last week and a half...BOOO! -Sinus infection with an ear infection - given antibiotics for 10 days last Monday - Feeling almost 100% better, but then during bike class on Sunday I -Pulled a muscle in my back trying to move my fan back to where it should of been because some young lass moved it, even AFTER I told him not to set up his bike on the computrainer next to me because I need the fan on...what a wizenheimer! -MOVING STRESS!! I move Saturday and am COMMITTED to getting back to working out "full time" once I get into new place. I still plan on heading up once or twice (obviously depending on this shi$$y weather we've been having) to bike the course (that would be in addition to the July 2nd ride), so I will post something when I have an idea of when that will be. Also, June 5th, my training facility Well Fit here in Chicago is doing a ride up there. Happy Training fellow Racine peeps! Edited by miami9296 2011-04-26 10:33 AM |

Happy Training fellow Racine peeps! Are you a member of the Chicago Tri Club? I became a member but haven't been able to train or meet anyone yet. I'm hoping once the weather improves I can start participating in group rides and runs and get some help for the event. I've been super strict with my training but I feel like working out with other who have experience will be a tons more useful.
NUTRITION IS STRESSING ME OUT! |

Expert 952 Chicagoland | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread hey all!! can i join the fun? I have NO idea why I am just *now* joining the thread. Humph at me. But I'm here now... So.... I am wondering what time you guys are planning to get together on Saturday before the race? I'm hoping we could meet earlier in the day? I'm not planning on getting a hotel this year (I live in Carpentersville in IL, 75 miles away), and if it's a dinner, I likely won't be able to make it. Btw, Anne.... I'm right on your way up from Springfield, we should hook up sometime! Maybe for one of those training rides? Would LOVE to join everybody on a training ride. Unfortunately, July 2 is out for me, a friend's wedding..GAH! this would have been perfect, too!! If there is another date for a ride, I'll do my best to be there, I really need it, too! Bike is my least favorite and weakest leg. |

It is starting to look like I won't be able to get up to Racine before the race, between races and family stuff, my weekends are shot. I need to work on bike too. Good question about meeting up -- my buddy and I will probably get to Racine around 3 on Saturday, maybe a little earlier. We are still figuring out logistics. Edited by abake 2011-05-10 9:36 AM |

Expert 1121 Menomonee Falls, WI | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread This Sunday morning (5/15) I will be riding the Racine bike course around 9am. My plan is to do about 45 miles at a pace somewhere around 17-18mph. Anyone is welcome to join me. Also, I've haven't been to this area of Racine in years. Does anyone know the best/easiest place to park in relation to the bike start? |

Extreme Veteran 499 Racine WI | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread The NorthBeach parking lot should be open and that is where transition is normally set up, so that is the best place to park and start the ride since it will be the starting point of the ride anyways. |
