Right on Muskrat! I like it.

As for me, I'm laying low this week after the clinger incident. Heading to Nashville Friday to see a "friend" , run a little marathon, and party like a rock star. I'll re-group next week.

Wait, what? no date last Saturday?  although I think heading to Nashville to run a mary with a "friend" sounds pretty awesome.

What is a good but nice way to describe myself in a dating bio as a silly, dork, sophomoric guy without turning people off?

The best thing to do is to show that you're a silly dork, not say that you're a silly dork. How do silly dork's talk? Write like you talk. BE the silly dork!

Ok I changed it. This is what I have so for on the bullets part, tell me what you think.

Some quick things about me, I…

- Love to shoot firearms, surf, snowboard, run, bike, hike, play basketball, and dance

- Am looking for a woman who is genuine and down to earth

- Believe that actions do speak louder than words, in paying it forward, and the golden rule

- Wish I had mood music and a theme song

- Actually like chick flicks and going to/watching movies in general

- Am fun loving and smile most of the time when I am awake. I could be when I am sleeping but I have no way to tell.

- Think life is too short to sweat the small things

- Hate drama

- Love to cook

- Have a silly sense of humor and try to laugh as much as possible

I am sure no one else will agree, but using a groupon on a first date might not be the best idea?  I will turn to dating experts on this one?

It's still a lot of telling, not showing. Showing would be writing silly dorky things. Here's an example from my profile. I'm a pretty big dork, too. So, in OKC, they have a section "The 6 Things I could never live without." Most of my answers are serious. The last one is:
That vestigial tail

Then, further down, there's a section "The most private thing I'm willing to admit" and in that section I have,
"um..I don't really have a vestigial tail....?"

See - BEING a dork. Not saying, "I'm a dork."

And this line?
- Am looking for a woman who is genuine and down to earth
Ugh - SO cliche.

It is an idea that it could backfire....Great for attempting something different which the girl liked, but the groupon migth be something else.  Similar to using a coupon for dinner, something you migth do once you have dated the person for a while and you know each other, but very bad idea on a first date.

x2... I like when a man is smart with his money and trust me I Groupon all day. But I'd be inclined to save that for later on down the road. Just me.

I'm fairly sure that every guy on match.com is looking for a woman that's not into the money. The ones that are into the money use private, high cost sites. Seriously. I know someone that did one of those. The woman puts up something like $75,000 and the man puts up something like $200,000 and if you don't wind up married it gets returned.

Anyway, words are cheap - particularly words that say, "I am x, y, & z" or "I want x, y & z." I can tell way more about a person by what they DON'T say they are and how they just present themselves. So, don't focus too much on saying what you want. You'll know if she's a fit.

Or, if you must say something, how about something like,

Looking for a woman that knows a good Groupon when she sees one, and isn't afraid to use one for a first date adventure.

:P

Don't change a thing. This is who you are, how you communicate, what you are seeking.

If you feel like you have to change it, take the negative bullets and put them in a non-negative manner. For instance Hate drama = Appreciate honest, kind communication.

It wouldn't bother me at all.  Plus, it would at least be revealing early on.  I'd rather go on a groupon date paintballing than a boring, "dinner and a movie" type first date any day.

Actually - I saw a report a while back about "groupons" on dates.  Some people thought it said "cheap" and others said "no big deal".  If I remember right, it was split down the middle.

I agree - if she judges me for using a Groupon, probably not my girl.

The way I put it in the email when I asked her out was "Are you adventurous? I ask because I have a Groupon for paintball. I bought it with the sole intention of paintball being a unique first date with someone." (I did not bold this part, just emphasizing it now

Either way - she's one in the "good group" that doesn't judge me for using a Groupon, and I'm looking forward to shooting my date, then buying her lunch.  LOL

You have to have her on your team and jump in the way of a shot meant for her. Show her you will take one for her and how chivalrous you are.

BTW good luck man!
