Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The non-elimination leg really surprised me. That means the finale is probably a two-hour show covering two legs.... I was surprised by the level of cooperation on this leg...from the previews though it looks like that goes by the wayside next episode! Did anyone else catch that Lexi is lowering some kind of flag during the next episode? I wonder if that means a return to the "recap what you've done" challenge. I'd like to see Jaymes/James or the Beekmans win. And I hope they have to drive stick shifts again next episode...that was just f'ing EMBARRASSING. Who goes on the Amazing Race without at least one team member being COMPLETELY proficient at driving a stick! Oh, and I hope shorter Beekman does both remaining road blocks...tall Beekman gets on my nerves a bit with his "I can't do it" negative talk. I wonder what city will be the final US destination.... |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() If whiny Lexi wins I will be so disappointed. What adult cries like that when they hurt themselves?! I understand tears, but crying like my 4 year old niece is unacceptable in life. I was just disgusted with her, especially her stupid voice and cheering for Trey during the tennis. How does he stand her? Her outfit was dumb too. Phew, thanks for letting me get that off my chest. Taller Beekman (Josh) finally manned up and said "I'm finishing this unless I pass out from the pain or my foot breaks off" (or something like that.) FINALLY! I would certainly regret giving up on a challenge because something hurt. I understand if you simply can't do it, but mind over matter needs to be employed in a game for a million bucks. Although, Brent would be hard to stomach and I am sure after being together that long, Josh has probably become this way. When Brent said "Josh is supposed to be working on his attitude on the race" (or something like that) it diminished my general like for him. That would be really tiring and if my husband talked to me like that, I would clock him. Also Brent said he basically didn't stop Josh from doing the task because he said his ankle felt better in the car. I would have personally told my teammate to sit this one out (unless my teammate was a tennis star) so that the healing could continue. Instead I got the feeling Brent wanted it said on camera that it wasn't his fault. He's definitely in charge of that relationship and I don't like their dynamic. I still prefer they win over Trey and Lexi though... I was disappointed it was a non-elimination round, but we'll see what happens. I am glad the "twist" of having to drive themselves actually made a difference in the game, it's far more exciting this way. I wonder if teams in the past have ever had such a great layover as they got in Barcelona. They have certainly never showed it on film, although having the teams together makes it more appealing to the producers I suppose. Usually if they get into a situation where they have to wait it's nighttime and they either sleep on the street or go back to the hotel. I just thought that was interesting. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I almost got excited when the Twinnies almost got eliminated. I was not surprised it was a non elimination round. They have done this in the past and one team will be eliminated in the first hour. I have a feeling Trey and Lexi will be the final winners, but I am pulling for the 2 James. |

Usually if they get into a situation where they have to wait it's nighttime and they either sleep on the street or go back to the hotel. I just thought that was interesting. I think I pointed out several pages ago that they hadn't had to drive themselves yet in this season and I also think that driving yourself should happen more often. It eliminates the "I got a bad cab" excuse. I was disappointed this was the first time we saw them drive themselves. Heck, even on the last leg in last season they were taking cabs...in the US. Really? The US of ALL places they should be driving themselves! I know there have been long layovers in the past, but maybe not with such an amenable group of racers and maybe not for QUITE so long. I mean, they had 12 hours...which is a LOT of time. If you only have 6 it really isn't worth leaving the airport. And I know I've heard some of them say they will go get a hotel if they show up at some gate that says "opens at 8am" and it's like 10pm. Plus I think they don't tend to go have too much fun because they are limited to the money they have on the race. For their little beach trip they might have pooled cash and squished into fewer cabs....or just walked there. Anyway, I don't doubt this isn't the first time a group has gone and had a good time during a layover, but this one was probably too good for the producers to pass up.... I'm SURE this leg was designed as a catch up leg... |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Being a former tennis player, I got a big kick out of both Lexi and the Chippendales complimenting Trey's tennis game! Ha! Sure, out of the group's competing he was the least awful...but his swing was downright terrible. |

I would accept "muh-lor-ka" but why add all the unnecessary syllables??? That's one of my favorite things about AR - mocking the inexperienced/uninformed. |

That's one of my favorite things about AR - mocking the inexperienced/uninformed. I think that maybe reading it a bit out of context it might come out wrong the first time (kind of like reading something aloud you've never seen before). But I would hope that as they stumble over it for a second that they would have an "aha" moment and immediately correct themselves.... |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ha! We are kind of sad The degradation of the twins calling them "The Gays" was just the last straw. The whole spiel about how they "don't want it as much" or whatever, embarrassing. I am so thrilled. Any last respect I had for the twins was totally lost in this first hour. |

So happy for the underdogs! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() YES YES YES! I would still have been thrilled for Jaymes & James, but am super thrilled for Beakman's! Woo! Lexi- crying never got you anywhere. Wow. Time to grow up! Justice is served. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Does anyone else ever remember high-fiving at the conclusion of a show on tv? I know I high-fived my wife when we saw the Beekmans come running through the door of Gotham Hall! Great stuff. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'll just second what everyone else said so far! I would have been just as happy for J&J. I was glad to see Karma come around for the Twins. They were being SO rude. And another thing I noticed during this leg was that the Beekmans just KNOW more stuff than these other guys. They were the ONLY team to know the UN logo without asking anyone (even I knew what it was instantly). And that's not the only time they've proven themselves the most "educated" of the group...the only ones to pronounce "Mallorca"...and there were other examples during the race. Sometimes it's nice to see some culture and grooming succeed...brains over brawn. Oh, and did anyone else see how happy Abby and Ryan were when the Beekmans won? :D TOUGH final roadblock...wow. I would like to know how long that took everyone! They all seemed to get maybe half of the flags by actually having a vague idea...the rest was guesswork...for everyone. I think that's all I have. Yay, Beekmans! |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ehhh... hummm. Totally happy twins got eliminated. IDK... the Beakmans were pretty consistently bad. Not sure what to think about that. I mean everyone loves an undedog story, but they... ehhh. I was rooting for J&J. And honestly, watching Lexi cry is painful, but they were one of the less disfunctional couples to play the AR. They seem cool. Not saying it wasn't a win... they won the only one that mattered, I would take that all day long. Just wierd. |

It was definitely like watching an 8-8 NFL team make the playoffs...then go on to win the Super Bowl! But don't ya love the fact nice guys CAN finish first? I LOVED that! Don't get me wrong, having J&J win would have been fine by me, but this was great. That alliance the other teams formed was probably what pushed me hardcore into the Beekmans camp. It just smacked of elitism...and meanness? Don't forget, it was the twinnies who took STOLE the rockers money and SPLIT IT with Trey and Lexi. Does anyone else see the irony that it was both the twinnies and Trey and Lexi who were wearing crosses on their necklaces? Not cool in my eyes. If you're gonna wear it, do the right thing. Just sayin'. |

Just sayin'. True enough. I sort of figured the final "3" just decided to make it easy and stick together and figured the Beakmans would come in last as usual. I do know they were last a few times just because there was not a "catch up" and they were always running behind.... But ya, they didn't quit. They did over come a speed bump. They did get ganged up on, and they still hit the mat first. I don't dislike them... good analagy with the 8-8 team. But I certainly won't say they didn't earn it. They did work... and that last challenge was really long. So it wasn't a gimme and they all had a chance. ... I guess I feel better now. Thanks. Edited by powerman 2012-12-09 11:32 PM |

That struck me as a bit crass as well. Everything just "sucks" to them. It's obvious they are very young and immature. They didn't get their way and pouting.
VERY happy with the ending. I was happy as long as it wasn't Texas or Twinnies
Happy for Jaymes and James winning a car. I was pulling for them but they got beat by the ultimate underdog team. GO BEAKMANS. |
