Today was my first day of really not feeling it. I didn't have motivation issues, haven't had any of those since I decided to participate in this challenge  :0 but once I got on the bike, that was different story. My legs felt bad, my feet hurt, my butt is always in border line pain and I just felt like giving it up. I pushed myself to make the 10 miles and it was a little faster than usual but I felt I had to go faster to make it through. I am definitely taking tomorrow off.

It still looks like everyone is making good progress and I hope that everyone makes it and enjoys themselves in the process. That will be my plan for Saturday.

Bobby

DO Take a day off / cross train / long walk perhaps , just something that leaves those cycling tender spots alone.

so far I like the speedfill  ( only 2 rides )   It was one of the only choices I had not much room on an extra small frame  cages would not fit.

Oh I did take yesterday off and feel MUCH better. Although I very much wanted to get on the bike yesterday but I forced myself not to.

About to hop on it for today's ride. Today is ILT day, not my favorite but I know it's important.

Sue, nice bike!!!!!  Have fun.

Bobby, what is ITL?  Sorry I'm so clueless.

Stupid me increased my goals a couple of days ago and now I think I did fuzzy math.

Hiya Pam,

Sorry about that, everyone around seems to use acronyms for everything. ILT is Individual Leg training. It is just a challenge to find the right gear and the right cadence. Too big a gear and you lose momentum at the top of the rotaiton, too low a gear and your foot wants to flop all over the place.

For some reason it seems that the least liked training components are the ones that are better for you.

I am super jealous of your bike Sue.

Bobby

Bobby, thanks for explaining.  Probably every one else knew what it was but not me.  But I'm the worst cyclist ever.

KWDreamun and I just did a Boston tribute run.  5.2 miles to "finish" it for those that got pulled from the course at Mile 21.  They expected about 50 people and realized 2 days ago that they needed to change venues because they would have so many people.  There were probably 1200 to 1500 for this impromptu run.  It was highly emotional at the start and then the finish line.  Thrilled to be a part of something so awesome and the same time, wish we never had to have "Boston tribute" runs.  Wish this was a typical week after the Boston marathon.

Surprise! It's a RANDOM....

Oh wait. False alarm.... No tasering "update" today.... Maybe tomorrow.

Why are you still here? Shouldn't you be working out so that you don't become a Taser Target? I mean, you KNOW it's just a matter of time until the next tasering "update!"

Don't worry Pam, I checked around and the only place anyone uses ILT is in the beginner cycling training plan. I used to work in IT and it drove me nuts how EVERYTHING was an acronym. I had a 4 page typed cheat sheet for all of them.

Thank you for doing that tribute run. That was a horrible thing to have happen and I am glad people are taking a good slant about it. Not victims, not Survivors, just Strong.

On an unrelated personal front, today I weighed and I have lost 10% of my original body weight.

Suefesta... which brand is that awesome looking new bike?

Bobby

Actually, I'd always heard it referred to as "Isolated leg training"  and you may see it other places.

I don't know - but then on the other side  - Pink Eye is leading to tazering.  I had it for a week and that is when I fell way behind on my running.  Been over it for another week and still wary of putting in my contacts.

I am trying spin classes at the gym to see if i am missing anything . i am curious if they would help my cycling , Maybe i should looking at the classes as a complement to riding a real bike . I do like the loud music and being in a group but it s pretty toasty indoors without the breeze you get riding outdoors and its hard to tell how you are doing vs the group which you get when doing a group ride . Made a killer workout by running a 4-6 mile brick afterwards .
So Here is my Question ......... Do You use spin classes as part of your training ?

Been having all kinds of sleeping issues so my schedule of riding has been all screwed up. Managed to get in 5 miles yesterday and 10 today. My workout log on here has been screwing up for some reason. It had double workouts listed which I deleted. Now it still has a wacky total number for April. Luckily I upload to Garmin Connect after every workout so I have an accurate total of miles now. I need 19 miles over the next 4 days so I think I will make it.

How has everyone been doing lately? Hope all is well!

I do not use spin classes since our gym does not have a class.  It could be good to compliment riding but the bikes fit different.  If your gym has good bikes that is a bonus.  Then it also depends on the instructor.

I love/hate my trainer Kurt kinetic...well that is great, the spinervals videos are great but dang I hate them, they kick my butt...lol
