Couple of things (yes, I've read the whole thread).

1) At IM Cabo, they had podium guys AND girls.  When the women went up, they were handed their awards by Studly men.  When the men went up they were handed their award by Beautiful women.  Every age group.

If someone doesn't like the duties of their job, then get another job.  In this case, I'm referring to the kissing part.  Not the butt grabbing as that is not in the job description.

2) Random musing/question:  If I smack girl on butt and she clocks me for it.  Do we both get fired?  I overstepped my bounds and she did too.  So we both were assaulted.

3) Yes, I sadly agree that if someone sees me grab the butt of a co-worker, even if she's my GF or Wife, I am 'guilty' of creating a hostile work environment.  I think that is a problem and the bar has been set too low.  Just my personal opinion.

4) I also think that too many men do not report the same thing that women do to them because it's just as taboo.  Same goes with male rape.  It's gotten to the point where the statement:  "Wow...you are supefit and your body shows it" said to me is just a statement but if I say it to a women it's borderline sexual harassment.  We are forgetting about intent because that is subjective and in America, it's deemed offensive unless proven otherwise.

5) Equal pay in professional sport:  Revenue should generate pay.  Nothing more.  If a mens team is bringing in the money and the womens team is not, then why should they get paid more?  It's bad math.

right so you smacked the guy for being a jerk. he didnt stab you, or steal your purse. its not that bad of a thing to happen to you.

Wow.

I think the reason not many women have chimed in is because we're all sitting here shaking our heads.. at least I am.

I got your back I'm a man and KNOW it is wrong so no problem standing up and saying so!

The fact "he" wants to beat the crap out of the guy if it were his 17yr old sister lends to the truth that he does think it is wrong just maybe not Man enough to say it and mean it...

I said it and I meant it and no backing down from it... I own it!

On a lighter note... Just got back from the pool great swim, 2 hr spin class tonight as it is STORMING OUT!

It was wrong, most agree, I agree. I am personally more concerned and infuriated over the government(s) putting their hands on my butt($). Cycle boy may get punished, our politicians(OF BOTH PARTIES) sadly won't.

Since he is Slovak and this happened in Belgium, is this now an International Incident?  Perhaps some human rights advocacy groups should get involved as our laws can't be enforced.

It's simple, really.  If he'd just pedalled a little faster, he'd be getting a kiss from a hot blonde instead of being flogged in public for being a dork.

BernardDogs - 2013-04-03 5:07 PM An analogy.

If you're driving your car with a BAC of .09, and a police officer doesn't stop you to ask some questions, you've still driven under the influence.

that's a poor analogy; you don't get caught doing anything in your example.  should read:

If you're driving your car with a BAC of .09, and a police officer stops you to ask some questions, but you're an elected official and nothing happens.  you're still guilty and anyone else in any other situation would have been hauled off to jail.

Bernard - I NEVER assumed "she liked it"......in fact, I would be more inclined to think she didn't like it.  That doesn't change anything I wrote.

Left Brain - 2013-04-03

Dude, they're models.....they like their jobs...ask a woman who is a model.

Left Brain - 2013-04-03 10:26 AM

On another note.....I have 4 daughters.......trust me when I tell you that they don't need "validation" for any of their endeavors.

As for Danica.....I don't hear her whining.  Probably because she perfectly understands that if you're going to make "Go Daddy" commercials with the innuendos that they contain (and take the $$$$ that comes from it), you're going to have to be able to deal with the perceptions of some idiots.

In short......you don't give women enough credit....they don't need your help in standing up for themselves.

Like you, I live in a house full of women. But I don't do this interruption stuff primarily for them. I also work in a position that has to confront college aged men who have never been taught the meaning of consent. I hear every sexual assault case that is brought to the attention of our conduct office at the University at which I work.

Certainly, I'm interested in a creating  a world where my daughters attend a university that looks different from the one I attended ... or the one currently defined by the numbers of assaults by clueless men. I've been doing this work since my daughters were very young. One attends the college at which I work right now and the other is about to decide where she'll attend next year. Sadly, in the 20 years that has spanned that time, things haven't changed (I have stats). Mostly, because men feel entitled to perpetuate the mentality that never challenges and dissects the sort of behavior presented by the actions captured in the OP's submission.

We, as men, are defined by the least of our peers. Fair or not, that's true. This is me trying to improve that. With all due respect (and you're due quite a bit ... I've gained quite a bit over the past 2 years listening to what you have to say), you don't give men enough credit for recognizing what's in it for them to begin this sort of interruption.

BernardDogs, let me begin by saying he's a chauvinist and an idiot, and I didn't have to read through 7 pages of this thread to be convinced of that.

I read it to decide if you overreacted

If, as you stated, you define yourself by his actions, then you did not overreact.  On the other hand if you can live with the fact that there will always be chauvinists, as well as racists and pedophiles, without letting their actions define you than I believe you overreacted.

As long as there are men, there will be sexist men.  There will also always be women who chose to be defined by the way they look.

Fight not only the battles that can be won, but the ones that will make a difference.  This one... not so much I'm afraid.

No, you assualted her and she defended herself. She is perfectly justified in defending herself when her person comes under threat. Now if you ran away and she chased you down and clocked you, you might have a case.

lisac957 -The fact that you wrote "do we know if she complained?" Tells me all I need to know.
Agree. Just because someone does not complain does not make it ok. I ask myself if I would be ok if that happened to one of my daughters? If my daughter didn't immediately complain (maybe she was worried that it could affect her job status etc) would it make it ok? My answer is no. I'm not PC and the old COJ crowd knows I'm not liberal. Just my honest opinion.

Please show me where I said it was ok if she didn't complain?  For that matter, it was a response to a hypothetical "Joe" doing the same.  Yeah, I'd like to know if she complained......it's part of the story.

Still.....for all any of you/us know that woman couldn't care less about it (if you take the time to go back and read you will find where I said that's not likely)....but by all means,  don't miss a chance to be offended and cherry pick parts of threads......it wouldn't be the same without it.  I said it was wrong, I said I would never look down on any woman who reported such behavior if she felt the need, and I said it was indeed a sexual assault in the eyes of the law in my state......and now.......

I say we hang him!!

The other thing we could do is stand him in the public square and have a parade of women walk by and pinch his butt.......that'll teach him!

Do you feel threatened?  Have you reacted with the same measure of force as the assault?  Then the answer would be yes.

Do you really believe that though? If a girl pinched me on the butt and I punched her in the face I don't think any judge would see that as legally justified self defense.
