Just finished Revolver. Oy.

It takes a special kind of crazy to do this nonsense.

How am I going to run tomorrow AM? more of a shuffle, I think.

I have read several places that it is back-to-back.
I did HHNF this morning. My plan is to go until I need a day off. That will probably be the day before or after Stage 7 - Angels plus the Hunted.

Good luck all.

Stage 3 done. Wasn't as bad as I thought but Maybe that thought will change in the morning. Stage 7 is going to suck though.

So all day long I keep reading everyone's post about how hard revolver is! I was all worked up and before I even started I was wondering if I was going to be able to finish. Well I don't know what everyone is hollering about because those 10 intervals were nothing, barely made a blip on the sweat meter

. Of course those last 6 intervals put me into a hole that I am not sure I will ever climb out of! . Stage 3 is done, ready for the next.... I think

I did HHNF this morning and have been WRECKED all day at work, I may leave tomorrows workout till the evening to get maximum recovery. It really is brutal. For the 1st 20 min interval of HHNF I was pretty good, hit the targets, but after the 1st 5-10mins of the 2nd 20 mins I was FRIED. The time trial at the end damn near killed me. How the knights do it I have no idea!!

It's like you read my mind, and my ride. First 20 I was actually impressed. I kept it dialed in the whole time. 2nd interval I started off well then just nose dived into hell. Last TT, forget it. Got about 45 seconds into it and made a deal with myself that if I just didn't stop pedaling I would consider it a victory.

I thought I remember Extra Shot having no warmp, so I'll likely ride a 20 minute warmup and then do them back to back.

4 Stages down and feeling pretty good about my chances of making it to the end. HHNF felt like a rest day after ISLAGIATT and Revolver back to back. I'm much more comfortable with long sustained efforts.

And I'm especially comfortable with 6 minutes of recovery between them.

I think Stage 7 is where the most people may get cracked. At least that's the one I'm dreading the most.

Day 3 complete! What's everyone's plan for post-tour recovery?

Please don't say a cup full of nails and more cycling.

HHNF Done!

I didn't think I'd make it.

I had intended to do the video as soon as I finished class today. I ended up getting talked into going to see a movie and then dinner. As I was drinking my beer with dinner I realized that it was going to be a painful night. As it turns out popcorn, soda, beer, and delicious shrimp w/ chicken is not an ideal pre-race meal.

Somehow managed to do the video at 95% though it was a struggle. I'll just summarize by saying that I'm lucky my kitchen floor cleans easily, I'd say I think I pushed too hard during the final time trial, but I feel I pushed just hard enough.

As for everyone saying about Stage 7 being scary, I point to last year's stage 8: There Is No Try, followed by Revolver.

Just finished HHNF. I could feel Revolver in my legs through the first half, but shook it off and finished pretty well. I'm really glad HHNF has those long-ish recoveries between the intervals.

Feeling the full effect of Revolver this AM.....thinking about this, the best mental approach has to be avoiding any thoughts about what is to come and only worry about today's beatdown.

The dropout rate on TrainerRoad is already at 33%.....

Finished HHNF at 97% of target FTP - felt like I really needed to hold a little extra back after being crushed in Stage 3. That last 4' of that second 20' set was really cruel. Scary part is none of the next stages look like a relief. Need a strategy for that double shot on Friday. Angels + Hunted are not conducive for back to back work outs. Looks like a day-night doubleheader!

Good job man.

For me the tour won. 42" I had to drop it to 90% and then 53" I had to drop it to 85%. Don't think my 3 mile run last night helped but can't use that as an excuse. Just whooped!

Awesome job everyone. If you did the ToS last year maybe you'll agree with me, but this year is disgusting in comparison. I feel like last year they just kind of made you ride a week in a row with no rhyme or reason, but this year it's like they've plotted out which ones would kill you back to back and how to change it up. ISLAGIATT then a total opposite in Revolver the next day? Brutally awesome. Stage 7 is going to kill dreams though. That's just nuts.

http://support.trainerroad.com/entries/25876424Just found this. Is this correct regarding back to back rides. I know it was mentioned before we had to do them in order and back to back but ...

Tour of Sufferlandria 2014 FAQs
I see multiple workouts on a couple of the days. Can I combine the two workouts in the Workout Creator?
No. Workouts created in the WC won't count towards completion of the Tour. You're welcome to do the workouts back to back or space them out over the day. Just make sure you complete both within the specified time frame.

Slightly similar question about the ordering. Was thinking about getting a jump on tomorrow and doing the Extra Shot tonight. Is that permissible or would I violate the ordering rule?

There is a post somewhere on the ToS facebook page, you HAVE to do them back to back with no break for it to count. I'm going to assume that the normal 5 min rule applies. But no doing one in the morning and one in the afternoon, or something like that.

The way I'm taking it is that you have to do the rides back to back in close time proximity. Extra shot and Wretched isn't even the bad one. It's stage 7 Angels/Hunted back to back that we all have to worry about. I'd say max of 10 minutes between workouts. I'm planning on just getting off the bike, refilling my water/nutrition then getting back on and getting my a$$ handed to me again.

oh come on, extra shot and the wretched back to back is not a back breaker. Angels and the Hunted is a little different, but really, if it's killing you, turn down the intensity to 90% or less for one of the stages and recover a bit.

Had a mental breakdown on Day 1 and am officially dropped. All I could think about was I should be outside running since I have a 25k race in a few weeks. Ran the next morning and my legs were jello on stage 2 but back on the horse and completed stage 3. Bring on HHNF tonight. AVDP looks really hard.

"Fandom" in triathlon compared to other sports. If you're a sports fan and simply love to follow sport, why pick a sport that may offer a view of the start, the finish and a few moments in between?

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
