Alright! First challenge ever for me, but I need something to keep me running after Race for the Cure, so...

Sign me up for 50 miles!

(I totally know I can do this, but seeing it in writing makes it seem a little scary!)

I hate running. I'm an absolute newbie. (Am planning on doing my first sprint tri next year.) I found BT in August, and joined the September Challenge because I like to swim. However..... I dread the October Challenge because I can not run. Check my log - I did all of 2.17 miles in September, and most of that was walking.

But Sappho has motivated me. Ten miles? I should be able to do a half-mile twenty times over during a full month, right??? Even if I have to walk it. (Amazing how ten miles running is more scary to me than 20,000 yds swimming.)

OK, here is my official sign-up notice:

My October Challenge Run Goal:
Ten miles.

As for requesting teams: "Newbie" please! (Although it looks like lots of us have requested that one.)

Ten miles. I can do it, right? *whimper* (Here's to hoping that the November Challenge goes back to swimming. LOL)

D.

Zilla - 2007-09-28 2:49 PM I will play. Put me in for 60 miles!

CHANGED MY MIND!!!! CHANGED MY MIND!!! DANGER DANGER!!!

In honor of my pal Trixie who just ran the Lake Tahoe Triple Marathon .... I would like to raise my goal to:

78.6 miles for Zilla!

If she can do that in 3 days (sure, she's an animal) ... well, then I can certainly challenge my lazy fat a$$ to do it in 30 days!

You trumped me on purpose - to make me look bad.  DAMN that power of Trixie!

Ok, I'm officially in.

Sign me up for 9hrs - these will be completed on an eliptical as I am trying to heal my foot.  Have been dealing with PF since June - bleh, can't seem to shake it.

This will definitely be a challenge.  Love to tri, LOVE to swim, like to bike, run because I have to - it's part of tri'ing.

I just finished my second season of racing.  This will be my second challenge.  I did the swim/bike challenge in Sept.

I'm with Dee - hoping that the Nov challenge is back to swimming - lol

Hi! I'd like to join. I'm doing a couch to 5k plan, three half hour run/walks a week, so total for October is 5.5 hours.

Can I still join in? I am just starting back into running after having been off for two months due to work committments and grad school.

My goal is 40 miles for the month of Oct. That would be 10 miles a week. While I hope most of this will be running - I am anticipating it will be a walk/run combo.

While I am a newbie - I will be on any team that will take me

Stacie

Yeah. And you have to swim, too.

Although ---> If you're on my team, then all you have to do for the entire month is run.

But if you're NOT on my team then, yep, you have to bike and swim too. And then maybe you'll be too tired to run.

(Oh look. The evil side of my personality is showing already. And the challenge hasn't even started yet. )

Oh, definitely!

Swimming is so much easier than running. I loved the September Challenge.

I'm dreading the October Challenge. I can already feel my knee getting ready to whine. LOL

I'm in for 35 miles.  Not much, but I'm still recovering from a stress fracture.  I'd like to be on the TAN team if possible.

Thanks for doing all this, Cat!

btw, i'm not tomp, i'm tomp's wife, lisazapato.  he has never read the ender books and has never been known to use triple exclamation points or emoticon smileys, and will probably be mortified that i accidentally posted this in his name.

ok, i want to try this. i can count the times i've been on this site since my race on one hand, and i haven't figured out how to set up my training log yet. BUT i WILL run. i will run and run and run. (i secretly love it, i'm just not great at it)
i'll pledge 40 miles. IF IF IF i can get a training log set up. i have one on runnersworld.com (or whatever it's called) too bad i can't use that one. :D
if i can't get it set up in time, i'll still run, but i'll beg out on the challenge, i don't wanna make some poor team lose because of my lack of computer knowledge

Hmmm, I walked 101 miles in September.  Put me down for 100 in October.  Okay, so 46.2 of it will come in 2 days (20 miler & marathon). I will be tapering and recovering before and after.

Maybe I'll make an hour's worth of those miles actual running miles. I am going to start running again eventually!
