Hey Everyone -

Here is the updated spreadsheet for this morning. We seem to be doing good for about middle of the first week. Everyone has logged at least a mile except for Husker Tri Girl. She hasn't posted in her log so hopefully everything is ok.  Sorry for being MIA here - work is busy and hubby has been home last night and tonight off work so I have been trying to spend time with him as well. I did a walk last night (right knee has been giving me problems) but right now I am only counting the true run/walk portions instead of the slow walks that I tak on off nights since they don't even really get the heart rate up - more of a "sanity walk".

Keep up the good work Posion Apples - keep running -

Stacie

total immersion is what i was doing too. i'm in western washington state (think seattle) so swimming OW is pretty much out for now, i don't think it's been above 50 degrees (F) in at least a week. the lake i live by is also pretty huge, even in the dead of summer i wear a wetsuit, cuz that thing is dang cold. i liked the total immersion book, but like i think i've said before, i couldn't actually swim before i read it, so it's really the only thing i know. my only problem with swimming is breathing, i have yet to really feel efficient. i feel like i could swim indefinately, if i could only catch my dang breath!!
as far as biking, i havent touched my bike since the race (labor day) i detest it. i want a new bike, i'd like to take my bike and run over it 17 times with a garbage truck. i DO need to get on it though, a new bike isnt in the budget until spring-boo hoo, poor me
of the three-running is my strong point, but i would like to improve. i'd love to be able to RUN a half mary next year, and i think i'd like to try an oly next year too.
well, husband is working this morning again, so i'm going to run when he gets home in the afternoon. then i'll post mileage,
keep running you poisonous, festering apples you

as I recall the movie...the witch who made the poison apple dies.  Too bad it wasn't from her own poison.  But it was because of her own actions...DIE SUCKERS

things going bump in the night will bump those rotten apples of yours right off the table

Poison Apples, hmmmm? Same as bad apples, hmmmm? This means that bad apples just sit there and rot, turn to mush, and pretty much go nowhere. Hence making it easy for the Vampires to run all over you once again. Vampires Rule.

Feilding, I got it from photobucket.com.

Now I just have to figure out the whole avatar business.  Got my old one down, but everytime I try to insert a new one the old one keeps coming back.  Very mysterious...must have something to do with this whole scary theme...

Once you delete the old avatar, hit F5 (to refresh your browser).  Then insert the new avatar and hit F5 again.  I think that's how I've made it work before.

Fielding - 2007-10-04 3:32 AM Today was a swim day for me too. The swim's definitely my weak link -- in that I've pretty much given up on speed and am just aiming for survival in my race next month. I keep hearing good things about Total Immersion, but I haven't checked it out yet. I'm pretty sure I'm going to join a class at the Y next month and work on getting faster during the off season. (I can't believe I'm already thinking about the off season when I haven't even had an "on season" yet.) Back to running tomorrow. You guys with your long runs are awesome! I'm shooting for 4-4.5 tomorrow -- if I hit 4.5 it'll be my longest run in, well, pretty much ever.

I heard a lot about Total Immersion, so I got the book.  I dunno.  I'm sure it works for lots of people, but it's just making my times go UP, not down.  And I'm talking significant slowness.  Yes, it seems like I'm exerting less effort when I try the TI techniques, but yep, I'm also moving more slowly....

Plus, I must be doing something wrong, because my shoulder is killing me today.

So today, I went to the pool and just swam a light workout.  Did my "original technique" and didn't push it.  But my times went back down to what I consider reasonable.  (Especially since I wasn't pushing hard.)

So I'm sure that Total Immersion is fantastic for loads of people.  But I think I'll just put the book aside and go back to doing what I've always done before.

I wish we had a Master's swim program around here.  I'd definitely join it.  Oh well!

ANYWAY, the challenge this month is about RUNNING.  And I haven't done that today.  Yet.  I think I'll treadmill it a bit tonight.  Will do a short walk/run/walk combo.

Hm, she set us all up as "Friends."  So she WAS online long enough to do that.

And it says that she DID log on today.  (Last logon2007-10-04 5:11 PM.)  So she's been around, at least.

I left an inspire for her, too.

Hopefully, she's been out running all day, and was too busy to update her log.  Or maybe she'll stop by here to check in and say hello to us.

500 yards in 8:46 and you weren't pushing hard? *sigh* Last night I was pretty thrilled when I managed to swim 500 yards in 14:43. Yes, you read that right. I'm a full six minutes slower than you! Ha! Clearly my swim needs a lot of work. Like I said, I'm going for survival at this point.

But yes, this is about running. I'm looking forward to getting out there tonight!
