tahrens - 2008-10-10 11:19 AM  I'm trying to come up with something clever about pasties and poles vs permanent marker and bikes, but it just won't come together.  Sorry to disappoint.  I'm loosing my touch. Help me out Rob

On a side note, when I found that stripper name game on Yahoo, I accidently opened some type of u-tube link of dirty videos.  I don't know what they were, I closed them as quick as I could, but more kept popping open.  We'll see if I still have a job on Monday.

You could take the streamers off your daughter's bike for props.   How you use them is up to you.

Cut the numbers out of your race bibs for pasties?

Put up (erect?) a pole in the finish line misting tent?

Let's not even get started on 'transitions'!

Zoot wetsuite $180, speedo gogles $15, the look on the gumpy old fisherman's face when you walk through the snow into the 45 F lake to go swim 1.5 miles while it is snowing, priceless. But brr, I think I am done at the moutain lake for the season. My core body temp was dropping in the wetsuit, with the booties an and even my tounge got numb from the water.

Anyway so weekend that there 1.5 mile swim, Sat 70 mile bike, 3 mile run, Sunday 13-14 mile run.

I hope it warms up at least to the 40s.....

FANTASIA LEATHER-HEAT !!!!!!

Sorry Tracy. I was off in London visting my daughter and couldn't help until now. How about if we had gentlemen's triathlons you would not have to worry about the pasties falling cause you could use permament marker to strategically highlight ones attributes. Also "riding the pole" (as in a bike crossbar) would have a whole new meaning.

Just how long did it take you to get the youtube sites closed. 30 minutes ?? and hour??

He's really smokin' out there!  Excellent swim and bike splits, now under 8:00/mi through 10 miles.

I did some yard work today.  My wife went out this evening (she didn't really want to, but I kicked her out for a break).  So I cooked a steak on the grill and opened an awesome bottle of wine that I bought at the Coppola winery a few years ago.  Then the girls and I went in the hot tub.  Kind of funny that I could see the Ironman updates on the PC through the window as I was totally relaxed.  *Almost* felt guilty!

Easy run tomorrow.

Steve, I was laughing today.  I was reading my Outdoor magazine.  Every page is like your personal, daily journal! Cool

Hey Steve. What a great time for your BIL at Kona. 10:38:55 and it sounds like the course was pretty tough this year. Makes me want to get out and train harder again.

My friend was a good friend and let me off the hook about feeling guilty doing the full metric century ride - or rather leaving her to ride the second half of her ride alone.  We kicked butt together on the first 15miles, then the course split and there was a head wind almost the whole way.  How many right turns can you make and still be into the wind?!?!!

About halfway through my thighs wanted to have a little chat with me. Apparently they were still holding a grudge about the 10 miler.  I gently explained that riding was not the same as running and if they agreed to climb for me I would give them a break on the down hills and flats.  That kept the peace now were BBF again!!!!!

Great job on your brother in law Steve.  What a stud!!!!  I'm bumbed I didn't get to see it.  Will it be on TV -Versus?

Oh I just remembered something.  Because the ride was a charity ride there was a wine and cheese party the night before with a silent auction table.  I WON AN AUTOGRAPHED GEORGE HINCAPIE JERSEY!!!

Apparently the ride organizer is a personal friend of his.  I guess he signs "friend" jerseys as GEORGE and the more public ones with GEORGE HINCAPIE. Mine says GEORGE.   I am so stoked!!!   I'll post a photo once I get the jersey.

Tracy Congrats on the Jersery... BOO ON THE RIDE!! WHAT HAPPEN!?

I love OUTSidE Magazine!  I want to be a writer for them!  That would be sweet, or just open a retail shop somewhere that has everything to do with the outdoors!! That is my dream!

I am very proud of my BIL!  He rocked it... It's his 3rd time in Hawaii and his PR there is 10:15, but he is still pleased!! He said it was tough on the bike....  But it was a PR for his marathon!  Which surprises me, because he has really been working on the bike lately, but I guess this saves his legs for the run... That and he is been building a base for 20 years!!  Damn him!

I must say that I had a great weekend, It is the most beat down I have felt (working out wise) in a long time!!!!

The Seahawks aside, I had a great weekend.  My parents were visiting and we just kind of hung out Friday night and Saturday.  Saturday night there was a crab feed at our church, mmmm...... dungeness!!!

And yesterday..... wait for it........ yep, I rode my bike, on the roads.  I think this is the first time I've had green on my graphs since Labor Day weekend.  Between being run focused and the weather being better for mountain biking, I just haven't gotten out on the bike.  I didn't go long, but it was fun.

Steve - I hear you on owning a sporting goods store.  I would love to do something like that and I know that a ligitmate (no snobbery) ski shop and a place that sells kayaks would do awesome here.

I don't understand what you mean "what happened?"  I did the full metric century, just like you said I had to.  WHAT - DID YOU WANT ME TO RIDE FAST OR SOMETHING?  THAT WAS NOT IN THE INSTRUCTIONS.

Tony, how was your wife's marathon?  I read her race report and is sounds like she was pleased.  Did you have a good time as well?

I misunderstood what I read... I should have looked at your logs!  When your friend let you off the hook, I thought that meant you did the short course (earlier in the week you said you had a friend working out on the course-LONG COURSE)... You must be the popular one with ALL SORT OF FRIENDS!!!

Yes, but GO FASTER! ALWAYS GO FASTER !!!

Does anyone log their nutrition?  I thought I'd try it for the week and it is a PITA.  I don't think I'll get an accurate picture just because I'll eat less so I don't have to log it.

I agree - I tried last year, and only lasted a couple of days.  I was actually about to do it again, but earlier today I started entering stuff and decided it wasn't worth the effort!

She did really well, if not for a pee break she would have made her goal easily 4:30.  She also cramped up in the last couple of miles that slowed her down.  Was very proud of her, it was hot and there are alot of hills on that course.

Was fine for me, she had a friend that did the 5k so I hung out with her while waiting for my wife.  LoL, I was at the finish of the 5k, winner came by in about 13 minutes 50 seconds, lol.

We ate some breakfast then watched and waited for my wife.  Saw some interesting stuff

One dude had 2 very, very bloddy nipples going around mile 25.  I think I would have just taken my shirt off, the whole front of his shirt was red..

A 70 something wearing a tux from the 60's/70's, complete with ruffles, he was sub 4hr I think.

A very pasty white guy wearing a blue speedo with HOT written on the back (no shirt, socks pulled all the way up)

Many, many, women (and one guy) that need to read some of the sports bra posts here.

All and all a pretty fun weekend.

Yeah, I'd thought about tracking it for a week every few months, but after today I think I'll just not worry about it.

I did it for 1 day and realized it was easy when I was at work but impossible on the weekends.

I made myself a personal goal to drop 15 lbs this winter if possible so need to figure out how to track that.
