I'm getting to the point in training where I dread the longer workouts. Just like I used to dread the workouts in the last 3 weeks of any lifting cycle. It's probably a good thing.

Further than average for me. This is 80% of the race I've been training for.

There have been a couple 5ks in my area lately... but I figure, since running is the part I like least, I'm not going to go out of my way to compete in a running only event.

I've got a 5K tonight. I'm kinda looking forward to it. I haven't raced in awhile.

That would be fun.  Believe it or not, I have NEVER done a 5k.  And I have done probably over 50 races.....  That's a "go as fast as you can till you puke, then go faster".....  But it's over in 20-23 minutes (at least for me)....  I should look for one.

I was wondering...you're quite the presence on this board, but it seems as though you never actually do any triathlons

What, you're not buying 3 of those ugly green & silver jerseys?

Maybe that's a reason why you should do one.

you know how you have a list of things you are looking for in a potential mate? You compile this through the series of boyfriends.. I've recently added the following:

Must know MORE about cars than me.

How difficult is that?

Ah, that. A 5k wouldn't really accomplish that right now. I'm still waiting on my first tri to see if I enjoy it enough to continue. If I dig the tri, I'll look into ways to get faster, but if I don't, I'll probably pack up and move on to some other sport. First tri is a sprint next month.

HAHA, I'm a COJ expert. I've done a lot of running races, but only 1 tri. I was supposed to do one over memorial day, but hurt my shoulder skiing and couldn't swim. Then I was supposed to do Rocky Gap... but had that wedding. I don't really care enough to sacrifice other things in life for triathlon... so I just do what I feel like doing, when I feel like doing it.

I'm gonna be doing more races now...

Ryna is a constant reminder that there is other things to do than tri'ing!    Thanks Ryna!

Hey, I wasn't implying that we should all sacrifice our other hobbies for triathlon. Not in the slightest. It's just interesting that he hangs around a triathlon board yet never seems to DO any

mm.. not at all if you're mechanically inclined and cars interest you

Uh, define mechanically inclined. I really enjoyed working on cars. Rebuilt an engine for one, then due to not knowing all the parts you should replace when rebuilding a motor shattered the flywheel while doing doughnuts (engine and trans separated.) Had another one catch on fire. Carburetors weren't my thing, either. I gave up after that.
