Our girls will be in the same graduating class  How old is your younger one?  Gordie is almost 4 (July) and Fred is 2.  Hope you have fun family time tonight!

Abby just turned 3 in February.

My 7 yr old will be doing his first Tri of the season as well on june 10th. 50yd pool swim. 1 mile bike, 1/2 mile run. He did this one last year as well. Parents are not allowed in transition and each kid is required to handle transition themselves. Very cool and proud to see as a parent. He can't wait. We actually practiced transitions tonight. I hope he continues to enjoy it.

I thought this was interesting (Jen read this)

interesting article, thanks for the link.

I'm still struggling with recovering from my Achilles problems and it's driving me NUTS.

Does anyone have any experience with KT Tape? I bought a roll to try out, figured $12 was a cheap thing to test.

My friend is a certified kinesio tape person which I believe are the same as KT tape. It depends if you want support or inflammation relief on how you tape it. I you tell me which one I can ask the lengths and cuts you need.

Thank you for the link.  I was going to ask the group something along these lines.  What do you do that helps you stay injury-free.

Obviously, I'm prone to running related injuries.  I assume it has to do with muscular imbalances or gait.  Having the 4 kids in five years probably affected my back, hips, etc., and I'm sure that has some bearing on the way my muscles have developed post-babies.  The Cleveland Clinic has a running institute....its sole purpose is run analysis and injury prevention.  I've already decided that I'm going to visit the institute once my season is over and see if there is something they can teach me.

I think this is a great course of action really.  Maybe read up on Chi running.  It helped me with my gait.  I also find that the yoga courses that focus on endurance athletes are very helpful in keeping the muscles and support structures stretched out and limber.

So all indications coming out of last night's townhall meeting in The Woodlands is that IMTX stays there and registration should open the end of June.  Thank God.  They are free to mess with it all they want after next year.  LOL.

First OWS of the season this morning. We got in the water at 5:45 and the water was suprisingly warm. I felt so uncurrent having not swam in a wetsuit in 8 or 9 months. By the end it was much better but I definitely need to get more of these in before the race. The fog was really thick making spotting difficult. The lake we were on has different segments that make it easy to navigate and we just kept doing the shortest back and forth. Even spotting that you couldn't clearly make out the beach head until over half way across.

Cool! Could you ask about both please? Inflammation for now and I suppose support for later on.

Good morning everyone! 1800 in the pool this morning followed by an hour ZR/Z1 run. Then I get back home and find a sick wife throwing up trying to help kids get ready and the 13 month old screaming and hungry. Needless to say I am working from home today. Thank goodness I have that option right now. Hope everyone has a great day.

Swimmers, I know my form prob sucks, but is it bad to use the pull buoy for most of a swim? My legs were a bit tired from yesterdays early morning ride, and just wasn't feeling like I was gliding through the water at my swim last night, so I just used the pull buoy for a good portion of it to allow the legs to rest. Is that a bad thing?

Secondly, the pool has been getting crowded, and I am finding there are some really good swimmers always sharing a lane with me. It's good and bad, I am being pushed to swim faster, but on the other hand, I am breathing quite heavy to keep up, causing me to take breaks.  I don't really have the option to switch lanes.  We only have 4 lanes (I thought it was 5) and there are now 3 people in a lane.  I guess in the long run, it can only help being pushed, right?

Over in the Connecticut forum, Todd was asking if there was a way to get access to the Rev3 Quassy lake to pre-swim it. I asked him if that matters, and just waiting for his response.

Does it really make a difference to pre-swim a course? I mean, the buoys arent out. And water is water, isn't it? It's not like pre riding or running the bike/run courses.  I clearly see the need for that if it's possible.  But how much does it matter to be able to pre swim a course? Honest question.  Am I missing something?

If you have a good idea of where the course will be you can find landmarks to sight off of.

If there are currents it might be nice just to not be surprised. And as Scott said, you can get a preview of some landmarks to sight off of. Also, water temps if it's at one extreme or another.

The 305 is way better than the 910, IMO.  Too many bugs with the 910...just something to think about if you're upgrading (I've had lots of problems).

I've heard a select few with issues.  Most are very pleased with it.
