MotoQueen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning Ghoulies. It is supposed to rain for the Peachtree tomorrow. I've got some ponchos for our working shifts, but don't know what to do about the shoes. Hate the thought of walking 6 miles in wet shoes, but walking in sandals would be just as bad. Oh, well. I am going to plan to have a good time no matter what the weather is. |

Taxes raised on 87 % of the population, highest tax bracket got a huge tax cut, women's health restricted and cuts to programs, huge education budget cuts, workers comp restricted and medicaid payments cut. You are in NC if you aren't already rich. Perfect day for the job announcement. Oh, and I found out that I didnt' get the job AFTER the department wide e-mail went out. No I didn't get it. Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Morning Ghoulies. We had the flood sirens last night. Flash floods everywhere. Then this huge "voice of God" is heard throughout the valley telling you to Seek Higher Ground!! Good thing we ARE higher ground! We had over 4 inches of rain yesterday! Our guage ws broken so I don't know how much happened before yesterday. It feels like Monday, but it's not!! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning Ghoulies! WHAT A PAST COUPLE OF DAYS! Tuesday Keri got her bottom braces on, so she was grumpy and in pain. Wednesday was her birthday. I only worked part of the day, then came home early to take her out for lunch. She was still in pain and didn't want to eat. We did go out to Pizza Hut, she likes their chicken, but she only ate a few bites. She had a softball game that night. She had a softball game that night. She plays well on her birthday. She had a 3 run double, and 2 singles. She stole a bunch of bases, scored several runs, threw a few runners out stealing (she is a catcher when she's not pitching). She played well last year on her birthday, too. Her team won 10-6. Woot! Caleb had 2 basketball games on Wednesday, his team won both. WOOT! Caleb shot 5 times in the first game, but didn't make any. I DON'T CARE! He was shooting finally. He had several rebounds, and stole the ball a few times, too. The second game apparently was a mess. His team won, the other team, including their coach, were poor sports. The coach had a technical fould called on him, and was eventually asked to leave the gym along with 2 parents. Caleb said the players on that team moaned and complained to the refs the whole game if things didn't go their way. I heard one parent from the other team yelled at their guys to just elbow our guys in the face. Why would you do that? And what the he!! are you teachign those kids? I'm glad our guys won. Thursday morning we got a phone call at 6:24 in the morning, when everyone but Donnie was still sleeping. There was a hundred horse calvary unit camped out not far from where I grew up and they would be riding into the re-enactment battlefield that morning. We had less than 10 minutes to get dressed and out the door. I threw on clothes and a hat, and grabbed a pair of sandals. I thought Caleb would stay in bed, but he wanted to go with us, Keri was already getting dressed. I grabbed some water and apples and we jumped in the car. It was pretty cool to see when we got there. We talked to some re-enactors. This was the veteran squad, they knew what they were doing. Caleb was recruited to hold 2 flags for riders while they got their horses ready. We watched them line up then, get their orders for the day, give 3 cheers for the family that let them stay on their farm, their morning prayer, then they headed off 2 by 2. We went down the road and watched them come across. Then we followed them down the road maybe 200 yards where they turned into the driveway of a friend of my niece. I got some pictures of them going across the field. They had a 7 mile ride ahead of them. We heard that at the main road not far away there was quite a crowd waiting to see them. When we got home Keri and I did a 2.2 mile run. Then I took a shower and a nap. We just putzed around the house in the morning. Then Keri wanted to go to Buffalo Wild Wings and sit outside. This was what she wanted to do on her birthday before she got her braces and her mouth hurt. So we went, we had a good lunch. Then we went to the mall and she got her ears pierced a second time. I'm on call this week, but I got someone to cover for me a few hours this afternoon so we can go kayaking.

That all sounds like tons of fun, except the braces-hurt and the idiot parents and ref. I feel sorry for what those kids are learning from the adults in their lives. Kayaking sounds FUN!!! When I get back from NYC I am going to spend more time on the lake and river in mine. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good Morning, Ghoulies Wow, such the adventures the Ghoulies have had. Glad you are okay with all that flooding, Robin. Is there much damage? Has it slowed down or stopped yet? Ann, glad there was so much good mixed in those days. That must have been so cool to see the re-enactment unit. Enjoy the kayaking! We had a pretty quiet day. Low key BBQ and visiting with friends. The neighborhood boomers didn't stop until midnight last night. I am sure tired this morning. But I think that I am off at 2:30 today, so that will be nice. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Still in the 80s during the day, though it cools down to the 50s at night which helps a lot. Hanna and I went for a run yesterday before it got too hot. Was really nice. No real plans for this afternoon. I have a lot of stuff to get done before our vacation in 3 weeks. And Larry wants me to go with him to car shows each Saturday until then. I probably will because it's the first time he has been able to take our hotrod to enter instead of just going as a spectator. It's important to him, but it sure eats up the weekend. Ah well. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Morning Ghoulies. We saw the fire ball yesterday for a while before more rain, and it is out again today. I did my first brick in a whole long time. Slow, but doable for the NYC tri. I just need to challenge Marla. In her tri last year, Lance Armstrong was first, she was DFL by a long shot. Her smile at the end was bigger than life and her words. "Lance was first, I was last, we both got the same medal and the same t-shirt." Now to start packing, drug the dog, shop for some food for camping and watch fire works this evening (if they aren't washed away). |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Morning Ghoulies. The weekend here was extra soggy. We did have fireworks for Saturday night, through the rain storm. Some folks came over for dinner and another few came over just for the Big Bang. Yesterday I spent packing for the Highland Games and NYC. Kinda the yin and yang of packing. I went to get a second round of antibiotics cause my infection did NOT get cured by round one. I am hoping to start to feel better by tomorrow! It is looking like I will not do the Bear race. Not being 100 % and it being three days in front of the tri I am not prepped seems like a bad idea to do it. Work today then I will be off the grid for a while. |

We can foster, but not full out adopt Thanks. I'm looking for better grandparents for my kiddos. On Keri's birthday she got a text from my mom at 9:23 at night that simply said Happy Birthday. A text. From her grandmother. Almost half an hour after her bedtime. Grrrr. That's all Caleb and I got from her on our birthday's too. On Thursday we took Keri to get her ears pierced a second time. Her other grandmother gave her a really hard time about having her ears pierced twice. The kid was almost in tears about it. I told her not to worry about what a grumpy old woman says, I thought it looked great and she doesn't have to make grandma happy, she has to make herself happy. I'm going to go get mine done a second, and maybe third time, too, just because. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Robin - I think the Flex is more accurate with step count than the Up. I liked the app for the Up better though. I can't figure out the tapping on the Flex, so when I go to bed I just use the app to log sleep. |

Heck, she might have gotten her ears pierced again right with Keri. she wanted me to have kids so dang badly. She was happy to have the step kids. That is just another reason for you all to come here in August!!! My Mom will be here then. |

It doesn't gt my bike stuff, but it is doing great for the other steps and it is doing what it is supposed to, which is making me move more other than workouts. It took me a couple of days to figure out the tapping thing. Also, the alarm works pretty good, but it is important to put AM or PM I haven't used the app much, mostly my computer but this week it will be all app while I am travelling. |
