Master 2235 Pacific Northwest | Subject: RE: TriAya's Group: SHUT like dog on steak, sorry! MrsUSMC - 2008-04-25 9:46 AM I was going to suggest what Yanti did....bring your whole wardrobe. Not that I have any experience (yet) in that department, but that' what the DH does when he's not sure. Oh and I cannot wait to hear about your DU! I've decided to attempt one myself in July (I think). Eek! I figure it's just one step closer to completely my first tri, since I've already participated in 2 5Ks. Oh, and I thought we were supposed to look good! I've been running around like a crazy woman trying to find a nail polish that will match the pink in my helmet that matches the pink in my tri-top! Let me tell you it was hard to find a helmet that had pink in it that also had a pretty silvery-gray that would match my bike. Whew! I think it is fun to look 'good'....I am notorious for wearing makeup to my races...just a touch of concealer and mascara (waterproof), and maybe lipgloss to start. Of course, by the end, I am looking like total crazy hell, but that's fun, too! Full circle! It looks like I will be toting my entire workout wardrobe to the race! Oh well! I'd rather be prepared for any situation. Ah, the fun of early season pacific northwest racing. Although all summer it is touch and go as far as the weather goes, too. Terri-good job on attempting a du, that will be fun, especially if you are keeping up on the running! |

Expert 851 Oceanside, CA | Subject: RE: TriAya's Group: SHUT like dog on steak, sorry! Hi guys and gals. We just got some terrible news! One of our club members was killed by a shark this morning There were 10 of them out doing a training swim for an upcoming race (I'm assuming the May 4 Mission Bay race). Here's what's on the internet: A man swimming in the ocean at Tide Beach near Fletcher Cove was attacked and killed by a shark about 7 a.m. Friday, according to Solana Beach city officials. City Fire and Lifeguard Rescue Services officials said the man, 55 to 60 years old, was swimming with a triathlon training group when the attack occurred. He was taken to the Fletcher Cove Park lifeguard station for emergency treatment, but was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a city news release. The beach and waters in Solana Beach have been cleared, according to the city's news release, and Sheriff's Department helicopters were scanning the coast for the shark. The man's family was contacted, according to the news release. His name was not released. |

More details have been trickling out from the San Diegans, various news agencies, and surfer's forums. |

Terri-good job on attempting a du, that will be fun, especially if you are keeping up on the running! You will do great! I also kind of like 'looking' good - although, this past weekend when I met up with Sal (sparco) - he probably thought I was in need of 'garanimals' - remember those - ummmm probably not anyway i totally did not match, i just picked what was the warmest among the clothes i had packed - we had a great wralk! oh, and who would have thunk it, but granimals are still in the news http://www.adweek.com/aw/content_display/creative/news/e3i4e3f5abcf0f51c3230e68f4541556102 |

Leslie, bringing it all sounds like a great plan! Even if it takes a couple extra seconds at transition at least you will be able to decide at that moment and will have the best chance of being comfortable during the race! GOOD LUCK tomorrow!!! Can't wait to hear all about it! Renee |
