Healthy goal: 11 - 11:30

I am so upset. Have no idea what happened but I cannot put any weight on my right foot. So swollen, can't wear bike shoes and on crutches. Off to podiatrist in an hour and hopefully x-rays. I really, truly have no idea how this happened! IT started hurting a little Mon. night and by last night it was so painful I couldn't even sleep. Ice, advil, elevation, all that stuff did nothing. I wanna cry.

Good luck at doc!

OMG NOOOOOOO!! Good thing to take care of it now. Hang in there and keep us updated. I am so paranoid of this stuff happening. I even started taking Tamiflu prophlactically last week because some people at work had H1N1.

DNS. Stress fracture in my right foot. No weight for 4-6 weeks. Dr. was being "nice" to give me a removable knee to foot boot instead of regular cast so I can shower. No words to say right now. Everyone stay healthy and focused!!! You're almost there

WOW!  I am very sorry to read that!  I hope it heals quickly and try to stay positive ~ as there has to be some reason this has turned out this way.  There has to be a positive in this somewhere.  We will all race a lil' for ya ~ best of luck ~ heal up and if you can, find your next race.  Keeping you in our thoughts.

mountainpics - 2009-10-28 12:14 AM Never doen an Ironman before....1. I assume they do not FILL your bottles, but, rather, give you full bottles at the aid stations...is that correct? 2. Are the bottles "regular" size or oversized with the extra area above the WB cage? 3. Are the aid stations generally crowded? i.e. do you have to get off the bike and wait for a bottle, or do they do handoffs as you ride by?

No they do not fill your bottles but give you full ones

regular sized bottles of water or gatorade like you would buy ina convience store

Aide stations are every 12 miles....typically not crowded.  You don't have to get off.....figure out what you want (ie water) and who has that item.  Point to a volunteer slow down for the hand off and grab what you want.

thanks for the info! When you say "like you would buy in a convenience store" I assume that these bottles will fit in an average water bottle cage, right? (always used actual water bottles while riding)

Kristin,  I am so sorry.  I know it must be very hard right now, and nothing I can say will make it any better.  But, hang in there & take good care of yourself.  There will be many races in your future.

So bummed for you. Well, hopefully you can piggyback the great physical fitness level you've probably achieved into an Ironman very soon. That said, I know it must be hard. Do your best to stay positive and surround yourself with friends on race day.

I have no idea what to do with that.

Other than wear it proudly and go kick some Ironman [buns].

x2.  I am so, so sorry.

Fwiw, I am assuming the doctor is 100% positive on the diagnosis, but if there is any question at all you might want to check with the other Kristin (she posts in IM training under the name Lazy Marathoner) as she had this exact issue before IMWI and almost had a DNS, but ended up able to race.  You might want to PM her.

That's the spirit. 10 days isn't anywhere close to 4-6 weeks, but a lot can change. Athletes heal faster than regular mortals. Don't rule anything out unless and until you are absolutely sure there are no options. Wishing the best.
