iowagander - 2010-02-10 7:39 PM Hey Kim - I just checked your snow album (great pics). Those are some sweet snow shoes! When I went snow shoeing back in the day we had the old school wicker-type ones. Yours look much better.

We're living inverse lives.  I grew up in the south and knew nothing about snow.  I've been in NJ for about 10 years now and have learned to *love* the upsides of winter.  I got the snow shoes from my sister who now lives in VT (serious snow country).  Cross-country ski's are next.

(until I retire in SoCal.....soon I hope)

Too true! I definitely miss playing in the snow, but the family's happy here so I'll try to stick around a while. I think the thing that bugs me around here (besides the traffic, which is just ridunkulous) is how expensive it is. Stupid "sunshine tax."

PAR-TAY!!!!

and well, heck TOM.

no more of this havent had a party in a long time stuff.

KIM AND I will be sure to come to house to party on a regular basis.

stacieb

It's a deal! I'll make sure to bone up on my veggie-dish repertoire for Kim and my Paleo menu for you as well. Any thoughts on what music we should have playing? I was thinking maybe some Chris Isaac/Jack Johnson type stuff. Very beachy

Well, as I tell all my friends....don't overthink my food neuroses.  I'll eat what I'll eat and I won't starve anytime soon.  Time with good people trumps all.  I like both Chris Isaac and Jack Johnson.  We can do some dance moves to both that will definitely embarrass your children.

OK ladies - time to go change and get dinner going. It'll be ready in about a half hour/45 min. The door will be open, so bring your wine and iPods (since I'm fresh out of Lady Gaga on mine) and come on over. Be sure to grab any Ghoulies you happen to see on your way too!

OK gang.  Sorry to sign out but I need to call my niece.  She actually wants to speak *live.*  That rarely happens.  If I'm there, she occasionally speaks. Mostly we text.  She's 14, that pretty much sums it all up.

Check in later.   Tom, thanks for the dinner and dancing.  Stacie, keep the party going.

skrtrnr - 2010-02-10 1:34 PM man is it a mess out there, but awfully to drive in especially when you have badazzed 4 wheel drive SUV

got to the doctors.  yay.

and went to Dicks to scare up a bathing suit.

i just got a call from the site where i ordered my competition suit.  its OUT OF STOCK!

and since my only swimsuit got STOLEN AGAIN from the Y, i need to get me a suit right quick, unless i want to swim at the meet nakked.

though.  that will certainly generate some 'interest' in the post-meet PAR-TAY put on by OUR team (since were hosting the meet)

stacieb

Someone stole your suit?????  That is weird!

The worst thing that happened to me was my towel got swiped.  Nothing like drying off with my sweatshirt and air dryer in the locker room!  I was not too happy about that.  I wish someone would steal my suit - it is at replacement level - almost see through

its totally EWWWW is what it is BILL.

and its the SECOND time that its happened to me.

gets old after awhile.

those suckers are EXPENSIVE.
stacieb

suits and towels and shoes and even clothes get stolen fairly often at our Y ..... especially if it is a school holiday when so many more people are in.  We really encourage people to use locks, but it doesn't always happen.

EWWWWW  is right!

What kind of motorcycle do you ride?

2005 BMW F 650 GS
This is a 2000,  but mine is pretty similar. I do have a taller windshield on mine and hand guards.

well hello there.

YOURE SERIOUS ABOUT THEM MOTORCYCLES ARENT YOU?

scares the sh^t outta me just to look at it, let alone ride on the back of it.

WOW!.

stacieb

I've been a passenger since I was a toddler. I had uncles with motorcycles growing up so I was always going on rides. My husband picked me up for our first date on his motorcycle, it took us an hour and a half to get to Gettysburg, which is only a 20 minute drive, we took the scenic route.

One of my favorite things to do is to go out riding on Sunday afternoons. Just riding around with no time limit, nowhere in particular that you have to be, nobody to answer to, just having fun.

I've only been in one accident and it wasn't too bad. My husband laid the bike down on some loose gravel when we were going up a hill. I messed up my knee, ripped up a hand and my elbow, but got back on the bike and we rode home.

About 3 years ago I got tired of being the passenger, since we didn't go much anymore and decided I was ready to be the driver. I bought a little Honda Rebel, had that for a little over a year then sold it. Then a friend of mine was going to sell this one, she knew it was my dream bike so she gave me a really good deal on it. I love her, my friend and my motorcycle.

In the good weather, I  LOVE to go for a motorcycle ride!  I'm with you on the country roads with no particular time limits.  My bike is an old Honda Rebel 450.  They only made the 450s for a couple of years back in the 80s.  I sure do like it!

givemashot - 2010-02-10 3:55 PM Well hello, everybody!! I am back from California. I won't say it was sunny, because, well, it wasn't all that sunny. Disney was fun, the kids were soooo happy. My 7 year old cried when the plane took off to come back home. He wanted to stay in California. He says he knows where he wants to live when he grows up (so he can go to Disneyland every day...). Sweet, huh?

A 450 would have been awesome!!! My 250 was a Honda Rebel, she just didn't have enough umph. It's hard now to even find a 500, I think only Kawasaki makes them, 650's are pretty much the standard now.

If I hadn't bought my bike from my friend I was debating between the 650 and an 800 if I went new. I wouldn't have gone bigger than that.
