Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are doing Ironman distances this month!
So the drama I had this morning that changed everything but I did the best I could. I had to substitute going to the actual race with running my own personal HM. The car died and there I stood with the DH long gone to a business breakfast. By the time he got back, If I had driven, I would have missed the start time. I looked at the DH and instead of crying I set out to run my HM. I had prepared to run a HM, I was dressed to run a HM, I was by-god gonna run a HM. I ran my 5 K hilly route then 7 miles around the town at the lake then my hilly 5 K for the end. There was no way to simulate running in the State forest but I did the best I could. So even though I didn't run the race, I did run a HM. I feel guilt about writing an actual race report, though.

disturbed275 - 2010-04-10 12:49 PM Donuts + running = BAD IDEA!

I kept all my donuts down but feel like poo right now.  I ate 10 donuts during the race, but it took me longer to eat them than the time bonuses that I gained from them.

Run time: 18:43
Finish time: ~31:00
Donut Adjusted time: ~21:00

Would've be much better off not eating a single donut.  From what I heard they were much bigger than last years

You boys think of some very funny ways to entertain yourselves.  In my winter mentor group, they had a mg competition via a *beer mile.*  Every 1/4 mile you had to drink a beer.  Penalty points for returns.  Final time was adjusted vs your PR 5k mph average pace.  Also does not sound like a good idea.

Let the tummy settle and go for a nice, easy bike.

Silly boy!  Hope the ride goes okay!
I second Tom,, 18:43!!!!!!!!! geeze

kimk - 2010-04-10 11:02 AM Happy Saturday Ghoulies! I also have a bike ride today with the donks....we call it the blessing of the burro. If I remember correctly this is how we got the name donkey. The sun is shining and am hoping he will give out an eeeeeaaaaawwwwww to us all!

Sounds like fun Kim!

Hey I need a favor. If you see where they are ordering Tri Donk gear can you let me know. I'd like to get a tri top.

We order through jszat. If you go to his blog I think he can set you up.

I absolutely could not have said it better than Bill. Just the fact you decided to do it your own way when the car died is incredible. MANY people would have just quit. Slap that 13.1 sticker on your car with pride (if you so choose) - you definitely earned it!

Yes dear I cut the bike ride a little short today but still got in 24 and did my first brick as well. Only ran a mile afterwards but it was cool to feel how different the legs respond after spinning for a while.

And by the way, I got my first flat today! I was actually kind of excited to change my first tube, but nervous too because I only had one spare tube and 2 CO2s. Luckily I got it changed out fine and inflated on the first try. Now I just need to work on speeding the process up a bit

Good for you! and yea on the flat fixing experience. That is my nemesis. My hands just won't let me take a tire off the rim.

Good morning ghoulies?  I can't believe I'm the first to check in.

I got a swim and run in already today.  Taking a few hours off to relax and then will be doing a group ride later this afternoon.

Afternoon to the eastern Ghoulies, Morning to you westerners. Hope everyone is out and about enjoying the day. I have been doing diddy little chores around the house. Lots of stair stepping though. Time to take the million plants I have on the upstairs sun porch outside. Every year I swear I won't keep as many- every fall I can't stand to have my little buddies die in the cold. Yes, I know- weird.
Going to do a little spin on the bike later, hopefully with the DH.
