that is a really tough situation...i think it's OK to be annoyed, just realize that when he says he completely forgot it's not like he was d*cking around playing video games, he probably REALLY did forget.  and for the tracking thing...it's extra time to go to the post office and get it done rather than just leave it for your mailman to collect (if you guys do it like we do it here) ... me personally that's exactly the kind of thing that gets pushed to the bottom of the list.

i don't think you are being horrible at all though.

You're right - he probably did actually forget, and I have to remember that he's got a LOT going on right on.  It's been a fine line between not wanting to nag at them, but also knowing (and they know this too) that if these applications aren't in within the next couple of weeks - I'm going to be in the country illegally which is quite frowned upon by the USCIS.

All I can do is be thankful that he's re-sent it, hope that it gets here this time, and keep my family in my thoughts for the best possible outcome with her mom.

Thanks Meh.

is there anyone else that might be able to turn over a letter pretty fast for you, just in case?

We've got a couple from friends here (all people that stayed with us in the UK) and one from my parents - but the one from my parents isn't really worth the paper that it's written on (and I'm hoping to be able to not include it from the application by including my brother's), so it's kind of key that we have that one.  Keeping fingers crossed it arrives soon!

Our very own Whizzz was absolutely amazing... she wrote one and had it in the mail for us on Monday after asking over the weekend if she could write one for us.

What's up TAN?  Hope everybody's good.  Had my third PT visit this morning.  Gained ~35 degrees of range of motion in my arm in 3 visits.  Working today, and then going to our local cycling club's end of year dinner to listen to Chrisitian VandeVelde speak.  Should be a good day.

How are you all doing today?

Monica -- Sounds like a bad situation all around.  I'd bet the letter will arrive before too long.

That is fantastic news Dan!!!   I hope you continue to get better, but sounds like good things are happening so far!

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that it arrives soon - getting deported isn't high on my list of things to do.

I thought everyone wanted to be deported?  I wouldn't worry about that too much though (obviously easy for me to say)... I worked with a guy when I lived in Carbondale who was from England.  He'd come over on a student visa in the mid 80's, had four marriages over the years, with his most recent being to a woman who lived in Vegas and had a kid with another guy, had 4 DUI's in the course of a decade, and they STILL haven't deported him.  I know he's still in Southern Illinois, and I know that the majority of that stuff was going on 6 years ago.

Make sure you ask him why he ratted out Lance Armstrong?

Sorry the power is out up there Pitt.  Our guys are working on it.  The non-union ones were told to go away, but the union ones are still there...

Monica, I apologize on behalf of forgettful brothers everywhere.  Maybe he just doesn't want to lose another cool canadian to the USA.  They're running out of cool people up there.

Meh, Great news on Italy and Greece.  By the time you get there, you should be able to buy the country for $7.25.

Anyone else? Oh TJ, glad to see you're happy...

Ha! Sounds like that guy could write a book on how to not get deported!

Though maybe USCIS just hasn't found him yet?

Monica,

When's the last time you rode?  I just had a thought this morning.  When you are in town, you can have mine (AFTER the race of course).  Does Tony ride?

Have you guys been out to Red Rocks?  We could ride/go out there.

I'm not too shabby.

Hey!

I watched the trailers for Machinariium and World of Goo.  They both looked good and the visuals for Machinarium are beautiful.  I like that style.  Trying to think of what to compair it too.  I have seen something similar somewhere.

Anyway, downloaded Machinarium for 5 bucks.  I will get WoG later.

Also, one downside of The Room.  It's short.  After getting through the 3 puzzle boxes, it's over.  BUT, since I probably spent around 4-5 hours (maybe more?) on it, at 1.99, that's only 33-50 cents an hour for entertainment.  Not bad.

OH MY GAWD!!!  That would be all kinds of awesome!  I last rode my beloved Zeus in February of 2010.     Tony doesn't ride, and I've already told him that his choices are to 1) drive to wherever we go and meet me there; 2) ride on the b!tch pad; or 3) not go.  When I actually get a bike here, his other option will be for him to get a license and get his own bike.

I've never been out to Red Rocks, but I've seen pictures - it looks beautiful!

We have a friend that suddenly changed his name after a couple years and we didn't understand why.  EVENTUALLY, he told us that someone screwed up and he got into the country as his brother, and his brother was him.  Someone swapped passport photos or messed up immigration...

Anyway, they were IN, so decided to take each other's identity.  But after several years, and established, felt ok to let all their friends call them by their real names.

Glad to see they are on the ball at the border...

Ciao for now TAN - off to the gym though I've got no idea what the heck I'm going to do once I get there.  It seems like all I know how to do right now is s/b/r.

One thing for sure... I'm definitely NOT doing an ab workout!

We can work something out.  I could give you the bike and keys for the week while I'm in STL.  OR, the three of us could meet out at Red Rocks and take turns doing the loop - 13 miles of twisties...

And Tony can darn some socks or something.

OR just let you ride, and Tony and I can hike or makeout or whatevs.

Cool! I played last night and it took me 2 hours to get through one level. Within the game you can play mini games to unlock "blueprints". They are little cheats but they dont give all the info. Tip: screen shot the blueprint on your iPad and save it. Once you move out of it you have to play another game to see it again. It's very Tim Burton looking. That's what I equate it to. Especially his Tragic Toys stuff.

How do you take a screen capture/shot on Ipad?  learn me something new...

OK, I'm finally getting angry at the "how fast can I go/predict my time" threads.

Who would know better the answer than the OP?  Or a coach?  I just don't get it.

It's obviously a "please look at me" ploy to get people go to their logs and focus on them for a moment.

Unless I'm drunk, I'm sort of an anti "look at me guy".  I try to blend in.

Make my dad happy before he dies. He's really milking this dying thing. Crap, he just had his 83rd birthday today ... 83 of them ain't enough?

Anyway, he wants me to become an Indonesian citizen (and follow in his footsteps and do all the saving of the nation and the world he wasn't quite able to get around to). Does he not realize how many naked pictures of me are floating around on the Internet which would prevent my Presidency?

To do that, I would HAVE to give up my U.S. citizenship, which I'm none too thrilled about (and my sister regrets having given up hers).

However, if I had a German citizenship in my back pocket, I'd be more favorably inclined toward giving up the U.S. one. Germany has waaaay better benefits it's kind of cold and full of Germans, but what the hey.

Too busy mostly (I haven't even really been in here) but also, just can't frickin' stand it sometimes ... either someone has posted good info (so I don't need to) or I'd be too tired to deal with idiotic posts/responses. OK, I missed the knowledge boat on this one and tired of not knowing.

What does "indie" mean?

The new game I got won "best indie game of the year", and indie films, and indie rock, and "best of indie" streaming audio...

me no gets it.
