Kids should have a GREAT gramma. I had a Grammy who ROCKED! I miss her. She never met Keri, they'd have liked each other. She died not long before Caleb turned 2 so he doesn't remember her.

Kind of, as long as I stay indoors..  It continues to rain here.  I think we will have to build an Ark.

Not that I am making excuses for the grandparents, but I have to admit that we don't always get to call them on their birthdays.  It is hard when they are so far away, (I know that is not your issue).  Of course we more than make up for it by having a surprise birthday with them at some point throughout the year. 

You all have fun Ghoulies. That is a direct order!

Wish me lots of luck tomorrow.  it is the big day, starting at 8:30 and going until 5pm.  I feel like I've done so much to get ready for the presentation that I don't know enough about the university itself.  Aarrrrgh!

Peachtree Road Race on the 4th was great.  It rained all night and into the morning.  During the actual race, there was only very light rain, and for the seeded runners, I'm not sure they had any rain at that point.  Working the start, we were start wave M.  It was actually a lot of fun to do it, and we got to start with that wave even though our wave was supposed to have been later.  

60K were registered to race, and just under 56K completed the event, so the rain did scare some people off, but not that many in the long run.  (ha ha pun intended.)

Hubby and I walked the event.  I so wanted to run, but I behaved.  The park was a big mud pit, and you could hear a few people complain, but most of us understood that there was nothing the event director could do about the rain.  And try to find a different location to finish for 60K people and then spectators.  Nope, not happening.

Lots and LOTS and LOTS of luck. You will rock their socks off.

I'll try to check back in and see how it went.

Good morning Ghoulies!

I think I broke my pinkie finger last night. I was catching at softball practice and I did what I've told the catchers to never do. I left my right hand exposed, on my thigh, and I took a foul tip in the tip of my finger. I knew I was hurt, but I caught a few more balls before I was focusing more on my finger than on the balls coming at me, so I stepped out. The asst coaches are a nurse and a PA. My finger tip was at about a 45 degree angle. They wanted me to go to the ER. I put it back in place myself. I haven't gone to the hospital for a finger in years. It throbbed and burned all night. I had to take 4 motrin to even think about going to bed. I put a splint on it but I didn't sleep well. Typing is a little slow, too. :-/

Been there. Years ago, before we had kids we had a dog that was in a farm accident. He was young, and a tank so we agreed to have the surgery on him, and the week kenneled at the vets while we were on vacation. The accident happened on a Friday afternoon and we were leaving late that night for the beach. Cost us just under $1000 to fix him up.

I got the go ahead to go on vacation next week. WOOT!!! I just hope Chantal doesn't mess it up. Looks like it should weaken and track further west right now.

Have any of you seen the movie Soul Surfer? It's about surfer Bethany Hamilton, and her losing her arm in a shark bite. It is one of Keri's favorite movies. Ever since the first time she has seen it she has wanted to learn to surf. I did a little research and there is a surf school near the beach we will be at. Keri is going to get surf lessons.

Caleb doesn't want to surf so he and I are going to rent a sea kayak and ride the waves that way.

Our school has a summer reading program for elementary school kids. There is a bus run but it doesn't go to individual houses it does mass pickups at certain locations like a bank, a church parking lot, stuff like that.
